4 years of playing this game:

1. I just realized last night that there were 2 entrances to Western Altepa from Eastern Altepa desert.

2. I never knew there was a Mushroom colony in Jugner Forest.

3. I never knew how to get to the waterfall in South Gutasberg until I did my THF AFs.

Nice man.

I still can't navigate Yuhtunga/Yhoator Jungle, Inner/outer HorotoRuins, or any part of Windurst for that matter.

I merit so infrequently that even though I have all 6 staging points, I don't know where half of them lead, or how to get to any Bird camps.

I still catch myself calling it "Intent"

The other day in Sky, a buddy asked me where the FoV book was because he needed a warp. I walked him all the way from the Despot camp to the FoV page next to Divine Might entrance before I realized I could have just D2'd him myself. (Don't drink and FFXI kids)

I have about 4 books of macros for RDM, and it never fails that I'm on the wrong one when it's a pivotal situation. Myst and I duo KSNM30 ODS and I stupidly cast Sleep2 instead of Sleepga and watched 5 Scorpions eat her face before I knew why it happened.

I think at this point I'll stop and pretend that those are all the instances of Stupid I've ever had.

* Couldn't move for like 5 minutes when I first started the game.

* I meleed all the way from RDM 1 to 51, subbing /NIN. (RDM 75 was my first 75)

* Asked help from my dynamis shell to kill the Charybdis it took me 31 hours of killing placeholders to pop, just to watch them come, kill and not even let me join the party to help/lot.

* Not keeping RR up in a Limbus 3 man manaburn run when I was the only one with Raise.

* Keeping composure up while trying to solo the FoV NM turtle in Valley of Sorrows.

* This is more suicidal than noobish, but I do use Sorcerer ring while weakened... in Dynamis. 1 hp is fun.

The first NM I ever fought was Simerg, and I was so excited about my LS getting claim and victory, I /shout'd to the heavens, "Simerg is DEAD!"

Apparantly shouting a ToD to the entire zone isnt kosher.

I went to Temenos North a couple weeks ago as Drg/whm to duo with Solrain. We did really well, the kicker is I didn't bring enough mp gear to cast raise. Thanks for being a good sport and eating that Home Point Sol.

Sing, you didnt mention trying to kite and kill Ullikumi in the 1st warp room way back in the day after sky was introduced.

MooseHP, I was there for that 3 man limbus run with no raise I believe. If it wasnt you, then I had the same thing happen with another RDM.

Entering limbus zone and engaging mobs before party has all entered therefore locking people out.

Haha no way, that was some other Singular >.>

Edit: I'm reminded of a certain Dynamis-San'dOria pull, by a PLD no less.

I tried to gain access to Dynamis as a level 35 Pld. I tricked the leader to giving me an hourglass and linkshell to communicate with everyone. I was in an Alliance, etc. etc. Then I realized I couldn't get in without flagging the quest.

Wow, I had that happen a few weeks ago, person responsible probably won't see this though. Can't remember if it happened before or after the raise incident.

I did this to the OP once. I blamed him for being too slow. He's had way more than just the 3 he listed, though.

I aggro'd one of those gears that disappears in Bhaflau Remnants in a newb moment.

I've had more MTs bashing someone who was on than anyone i know.

I'm pretty sure i aggro'd that house or w/e that you're not supposed to in Dyna-Windy once and wiped the alliance.

I still don't know my way around half the zones, including Sky, and barely have any maps that i wasn't forced to get.

I wore that CP Royal Guard Collar or something that says "Only active outside your nation's conquest zones" in Aht Urghan zones for a solid month before realizing it wasn't even in effect.

I really have way too many to list but here is a couple.

1. Sibent (if you knew him you have played too long) was taking me on my magicite run through castle O and told me to get powders and oils. So I got one of each and halfway there was forced to watch as he killed half the castle cussing me the whole way.

2. This just happened recently. We went on an ohat run, there was about 15 of us, and after the last run I equipped my nomad cap and warped my party home...before the last guy got his o hat. I s still feel like ***** about that one.

there were a ton between 1 and 2, but just like Thrustie, I can barly find a mog house in Bastok with out auto following Strifer or someone else unlucky enough to party with the eteternal noob.

Woooooo Sibent!

Here's one. I stood by and tried to watch DB's LS kill Vrtra. I was in Sandy when I got the /t that he was down to 15% and it was the lowest he'd ever been. DB is fighting Vrtra and at the same time trying to describe to me, without me having a map, how to get to Vrtra. Then I get there and well...I stood close enough for an AoE at one point..so yea...

P.S. you've played a long time in my book if you know either Lavdrim or Taikobo.

Speaking of old/infamous names, Blazingtiger? Killuminati!

Who else... who was that mule that was ALWAYS in San'dOria?

Alieador used to be the best THF I knew on the server, as bluntly gay as he was.

Bomber was the first NA 75 I can remember, on DRK no less...

Getting AF was a BIG DEAL, I had to find people that were like... level 60!!! I used to /shout in Lower Jeuno, /search all inv and bug anyone that was high level, especially if they were the same job as the one I needed AF for.

I made a Crawler Hunter / Soldier Crawler EXP party for my Crawler's Nest coffer Key and for Leeluu's Coffer Key. Only way I got that done was by tricking people into thinking it was an EXP party and going at an early enough level that the EXP was ok.

I applied to my first HNM LS at level 70MNK, Lunarians, and never heard back from them.

I made IntensityLS like forever ago: First post about the LS, lol I'm such a n00b...

IntensityLS

I was a part of a few of the best threads in history for Bismarck, LadyOfHolyDarkness Eater of Souls's Journal:

One of a few epic threads. (Looking back, this is when I got pissed about Karma and made an idiot out of myself to Allah's admins. Like 200 posts in a row all Decent because I pissed off Grumpywookie... Then the admins were like "Quit ******** about karma!!"

Then check this out, I got ignored to Lunarians and just upgraded Intensity!

I used to use lots of colors...

That Linkshell was a frickin blast... We did stuff together when the majority of the game wasn't quite exactly mapped out yet. I remember bragging about a Genbu kill. I duoed him just the other day.

I probably was too young to lead, and when things eventually went bad, I went to Epilogue and met Krack and his crew. Great people!

After Epilogue, I pretty much gave up on linkshells in general. I pretty much live off of helping people on my friends list while attempting new solos and trying to meet new friends. My wife plays now (Not Leeluu, though props if you were there for my in-game wedding that took 2+ years of applications since day #1 of weddings)and we're getting rather great at duoing. The part where I don't have to interact with many people on a regular basis sort of makes the game appealing, as well as the fact that SE keeps making it more and more solo/low man friendly.

Anyone remember the Astral Ring thing with Hiptaru? Tsetsuo uncovered that story, that guy was awesome. He went to LoTR online or some crap lol...

There are so many people that have come and gone from Final Fantasy XI that if you took all of the returned players that have /tell me "Hey remember me?!" then took all of those that then again quit, and returned to again /tell me "Hey I'm back!" I could tripple my current friends list.

To be honest, I'm not ready to quit, but it still feels like the end of FFXI is near.

Well there were a few mules that were know in Sandy. Taikobo, as I mentioned was one of them. Another one was a guy named KillaK (his real characters name). I never spoke to him on Killak, I only ever spoke to him on his mule (caught him online a few times as he was refilling his bazaar). He still sits there outside the South Sandy MH's. I forget the character's name but if you check the bazaar's you will find KillaK's name in one of them. There was also Buddah who sat on a ledge somewhere in S. Sandy (different Buddah than now). Now it's a Galka Buddah but before it was a Taru.

And as far as Killuminati..dare not speaketh the name!

You don't miss them? Not even for a second?

Looking back, I have to consider that the period of time in question was the peak of FFXI's popularity. Which is also really hard to believe since the game was so much less solo friendly, incredibly over run with RMT, and had a completely ridiculous economy.

Still man, their web site was a hilarious read.

I think Sageo and Thrustie have more noob moments than anyone I can even think of haha.

One that really sticks out of my mind was getting my friend the Yhoator Gate crystal. I was taking him to get it, and it took me 3 hours to realize that I was in Yuhtunga Jungle instead. Come to think of it, I think I was helping Sageo get it >.>

Lol, I only have 1 problem with zones anymore.. When ever I'm otw to castle Oz, I OP to meriphitaud mts, and every fk'n time, no matter how focused I am, I run to sauramauge champaigne. As soon as the screen goes black, I realize I did it again... before the whitegate warp, I used to always get to jeuno by OP'n there and running on foot. It's a habit I doubt I'll ever break.
