OPINION only coming from a US release Vet.

Remeber when you could hardly walk through any town because it was so crowded.....
Remeber when there were 0!! mobs in a zone because it was sooo crowded.....
Remember when Scorp. Harn. was 20+mill!!....
Remember FF before Promathia/Zilart....

I'm sorry to say this game is dead and NOTHING like what it used to be, as is fate of all games I assume. I still have a few friends on here, but it's almost sad running through zones or in cities to see a fraction of the activity....
I don't mean to discourage just feeling nostalgic and throwing something out for the old schoolers. Take care and have fun with it, I still do occasionally. :) (New SE MMO(multi-plat)- Yes Please....... Aion- Yes Please.)

I wouldn't exactly say this game is dead. Things have changed, and this is coming from a guy who has been around since the PS2. All those things you listed were...well, they sucked. Barely walking through the towns as annoying as hell. 0 mobs meant no EXP. There is absolutely, positively no logic in paying 20,000,000+ for the Scorpion Harness and Haubergeon. Promathia was hard, I'll give you that, but the rings make it all worth while. The only real thing that killed FFXI(and still, FFXI is thriving) is ToAU. Even then, things go on.

I enjoy the game less now because of repetition. I mean, here it is 2008 and end game hasn't really changed much, exp is still a grind, and I'm still farming for my gil even after raising crafts to 90+

But is the game dead? Far from it.

If you ask me, SE must have fired some of the retards on the staff, then hired some people that actually pay attention to the game. Every update the game gets better with more to look forward to.

What's changed so drastically that this game is nothing like it used to be?

If anything major has changed, it's that this game has, in fact, become more enjoyable and much more friendly to the casual player.
