My knowledge of FFXI has lessened over the years as I have had to make room for much more useless things like political science and history, but how could something like that happen with the game mechanics? Was he party leader and that happens? Is it clearly impossible and nyheen doesn't seem to have all of the facts?

Ok, so he was party leader? Kinda stupid to have anyone but the people in charge in a position of so much power...

Anyways, if what you say is true than thanks for coming here and posting. As always I am appreciative when people make asshats known.

Must be a pretty special kind of @#%^ to steal a rare/ex sword from people in his ls. Thanks for the heads up Nyheen, will be sure to avoid this guy, and I'm sorry that happened to you.

#12REDACTED, Posted: Jun 27 2008 at 4:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Can you honestly say that you've never stolen anything yourself or at least had someone accuse you of it? How many times have you casted a lot when you know you weren't supposed to? I'm just saying to leave the man alone and cut him some slack. thats all...

I can honestly say I've never stolen anything from another player, for the very reason that it was not mine. As far as leaving him alone..I've never bothered him. He's a player to be avoided like the plague and I've done that so far thank you very much. Anyone who acts so egregiously deserves to enter my big 'ol mental book of people to avoid and receives 0 respect and 0 assistance from me in any form in the future.

Yes.

Never. He's a fucking cheater and should be called out as such.
#15REDACTED, Posted: Jun 27 2008 at 8:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you guys are saying that hes like a plague that should be avoided? I know him personally and hes a nice guy, hes helped me countless times when I needed him and from what Ive gathered here, you guys all sound like the kind of guys to avoid. with attitudes like that I wouldn't want to do anything with you in game. your all bitter and I dont want to have anything to do with a bitter player. you guys all fail to realize that even if he did mean to steal it, that every single NM and item dropped can be repeated countless times. let the past go and all I'm asking is to realize that it's not fair to go on the biggest FFXI site and intentionally create a flaming thread when you can still get the item. you guys kicked him out of your LS, leave it be there. just saying with respect that your all complaining over something small and destroying the reputation of a guy that doesn't deserve it . common guys show a little respect. is that too much to ask?

You're right. I am saying he's like a plague to be avoided. However what you fail to realize is that my entire post (seeing as how my name is next to the post) implies that those are my own thoughts and opinions. Therefore I have a right to believe whatever I want to believe. Just as you do. You don't want anything to do with me? Fine. I'm not hurt in any way by it and you probably come off no worse for wear or even better for not associating with me (if your assumption is true). Even if it isn't true you are right back where you started. That's exactly what I'm doing. If I'm wrong, I'm no worse off. If I'm right I am all the better for it. Everyone is free to make their own assumptions about things. That is why this is called a public forum. No one here destroyed his reputation. That's just blinding yourself to the truth and shifting blame to others. If he hadn't done wrong then he wouldn't be wrong. It's up to each and every person who reads anything on this board to decide for themselves what course of action (or inaction) they will pursue. And as I stated previously, though in much different words, he lost my respect when this issue came to light. I, personally have no desire to associate myself with the type of person (despite how they might feel about it in the aftermath) who would actually carry out that sort of agenda.

So... if I work and save up 1000$ and someone steals it from me and I'm pissed, should I not be because I fail to realize that I can work some more to make another 1000$? That is the worst argument I have ever heard. I'm even slightly drunk right now and I'm still pretty sure that's a terrible argument.

If he stole something, and he admitted it, then he definitely is a douche. I think it's the RIGHT THING TO DO to let people know if someone really is that much of a douche.

And it's like Gamion said, they're not destroying his reputation. He himself stealing an item is destroying his own reputation. All they are doing is warning people about it.
#18 Jun 28 2008 at 3:35 AM Rating: Excellent
Kab are you really going to say that someone who admits to stealing an item that he lost the lot on deserves some kind of break. Come on man if that had happened to him he would have thrown a fit also. You don't soil your own reputation and expect people to let it slide. He lost the lot he could have camped that NM again to get a chance to get the item. Instead he turned into a thf and showed the Server that he is someone that cant be trusted in any circumstance that involves drops. That is 99% of endgame and 100% bcnm and whatnot. He should be glad that it was not posted onto the main forum so atleast he can pack up his stolen item or Items and bounce off the server.

And Yes I have never stolen anything from anyone in this game because your reputation is all you have in this game.

Just a warning also you hang out with thieves and people will associate you as one yourself. I am glad the ls instant booted him it will do nothing but bring your shell rep and your rep down to be around that kind of low life.

You're an idiot lol. Are you REALLY defending this douche? I am in a Linkshell with Nevillsbrother and I would tell him to his face every time that he is a worthless *******. You do realize that by defending LS theft this thread will come up if you ever decide to jump servers or to apply to various shells right? I see it countless times on BG, where sh*t people say come back to bite them in the ***.

[Insert birds of a feather quote]

You and he both are worthless pieces of trash. Yes! I can say unequivocally that I have never stolen anything in game. I have NEVER lotted sh*t that I know that I should not have. Who cares if it can be done "countless times"? I mean if it can be done countless times they why didn't the ******* just wait his turn then? Your logic, like Nevilsbrother is made of fail.

Logged on to the "FaithinChaos" linkshell to see if he was on, he is not. I interested to see what the members and/or leaders of this shell plans to do in regard to this.

That is strange, normally Quatermaster only affects the drops AFTER quatermaster is on, not the drops currently in pool

I know I'm late to the party, but when the op was posted, I added him to my /blist next chance I could and moved on. Yet after your responses and defense of him, I decided to post my thoughts. The reason everyone says to avoid him like the plague is because people who exhibit this kind of behavior will often times do it again.

Yes, every single item can be dropped again, but lets say next time he decides to "accidentally" lot something, he's in dynamis and it's someone's rdm hat who's been waiting 6 months for it to drop. Or perhaps he's helping you again for something you needed his help on, and instead of saying congrats to you when your item drops, he lots it instead cause he thinks he can use it better than you. This is why people post warnings like this, when someone pulls a douchebag move, they get that rep, and noone will help them anymore.

They will most likely find a new ls, explain how it was a huge accident and he mistakenly turned on quartermaster or lag did it, or some other lame excuse. He'll eventually get in a new ls and probably play by the rules for a few months, till there is an item in the treasure pool he really really wants, and then accidentally do it again. The good thing is, he's on my blist, so he wont be in any of my ls's and therefore wont be ******** any of my friends, my members or me out of any drops.

Btw, feel free to /blist me if you don't want to associate with players with attitudes like my own. Thieves in real life get jail time, thieves in ffxi get a bad rep, lose friends and deserve to have their name dragged thru the mud. I'm sure if it was your item that was taken, you'd be thinking completely differently.

The player base would be in a much better place if people like this thought about it before deciding to ninja lot an item, that, like you said, will drop again. The greed for the one item ultimately leads them to less items because noone will help them anymore. Think about all the other items and potential items you will be losing out on by destroying your rep, not to mention the fact that stuff like this will follow you across servers.

Kabalis, you know the guy did something wrong, in a game where not many people ever meet face to face, reputation is paramount, do not ruin your own reputation by chucking up rather shaky posts about what a great guy this person is, when quite clearly that is not the case.

Let him take responsibility for that item that he deprived someone else of, it is a pretty low thing to do. Every item in the game drops limitless times, it is still a very poor excuse to steal from people.

Now before I go on my rant, I have no intention of associating with people that steal in-game and I am in no way sticking up for anyone. I'm simply speaking my mind....

That is probably the most immature thing I've seen. The guy steals something in game (theft is theft, no matter what) and it's obvious that there's no denying such. However, calling someone worthless trash for stealing VIRTUAL GOODS is excessive. Was it right stealing a sword? No. Is it excusable by any means? No. Does that give people the right to stoop to a lower level to call him whatever? There's a difference between warning someone of another's actions, and attacking someone for their actions, and the line was obviously crossed. I mean let's be honest now...it's a game...no matter which way you try to cut it, this is a GAME. People have been screwed out before, they're getting screwed out now, and I gurantee you that it's not over.

Seriously. Just because someone did something wrong doesn't mean people have to make themselves look bad by insulting them. Feel better because YOU haven't stolen anything? Feel better that you insulted someone else for their faults? Good for you. But honestly, people like me look at that, and think the some people take Final Fantasy XI just a little bit too seriously. If you don't like the guy, that's your god-given right. So /blist him, don't associate with him, and move on.

Im sorry for pissing you guys off. I just wanted to defend the man due to the kindness he's shown me in the past, but you guys are right, you are all entitled to your opinion and I would be pissed if someone stole $1000 dollars from me. my point was this, most people who things wrong and are punished for it, usually deserve to have the subject dropped. everyone deserves a second chance in my opinion. you can all curse me and hate me for defending him, but Im not the type to give up on anyone. good can come from anything... sorry to have wasted your guys' time. take care and if anyone ever needs a paladin to protect them, call me and I will be there (role-playing persona ^^)

To NB friends, family and fanboys everywhere:

You guys realize that I do log on the game right? Anyone that is throwing a hissy fit or whining because I seemingly "flamed" your friend, I have talked to NB and to Lejes about the issue. I am a straightforward person and I don't bite, any issues, comments and concerns can be directed towards me. There is no need to send cryptic messages through friends or acquaintances. My point of view is as follows: I have had friends that have been the victim of stolen goods as well as had ex-friends that have done said thefts. After talking to him I have a different understanding of that days events, deal with it. Holding a grudge? Bitter? Still butt hurt over my words? That's your problem not mine. I have been around this game far too long to care what a few select people think. One thing I have noticed in my almost 5 years of playing? Friends and alliances come and go like the tide, it's pretty much the ebb and flow of how this crazy game works sometimes.

Just throwing it out there for anyone that it may still concern, come to me directly to find out what was said and/or done. You can reach me on your forum of choice via email or pm under the same name if you prefer, or in game as *gasp! the same name, I just wish to take the anonymity out of this entire perpetual "sh*t storm". Oh and to NB I will "greet" you as I said I would if you would like just let me know lol, I am not shy or one to bite my tongue, you know this by now I'm sure. :)

Before I get anymore fanboy hate tells, that was a joke between NB and I. He got me good yesterday.....

He should just drop the sword if it really was an accident. End of story. If he doesn't he's a thief.
