Hey, I know this will be kind of pointless asking...well, begging really, but could anyone reading this do me a favor? I'm quite broke, I need some gil to: feed my Chocobo, buy some magic and for general items/equipment. I know its probably rude of me to ask for this, but Im desperate for gil and im sure theres some high lvls out there with tons of spare gil lying around lol. Im sorry if i'm breaking any rules by posting this, but like i say, im desperate. So if you could spare a few gil or even some items will do, this is what i need:

Vomp Carrots
Thunder
Blaze/Ice Spikes
Aeroaga
Some good BLM gear (im lvl 24)

I know its a longshot asking this, but if theres any kind people out there then thanks, if not then im gonna hunt you down with a teddy bear and beat you silly lol =P

You asked in a much politer way than most people but I'm sure you'll get the same response, which boils down to:

"Why can't you go make gil like everyone else who plays?"

Let me point you in the direction of some gil-making methods for the levels in your sig. Let me find them.

Quests:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?mode=bytype

http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/questdb/

Find some that you can do for your level.

Beginners Crafting guides:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=24;mid=1115126760887739441;num=57;page=1

In addition there is mining, logging, harvesting, excavating, fishing and chocobo digging. Though you mention that you need to feed your chocobo so I'm assuming you don't have the ability to ride one yet?

Hope this helps. You won't help yourself or anyone if you ask for handouts. Do research on these sites and better your knowledge of the game.

Give a man a fish....

Thanks a lot, i will take a look at the links, the problem ive found with crafting is that i dont have enough gil to buy materials or Rods for fishing, (i have 31 gil altogether lol so i cant even afford to rent a chocobo lol) this is all because i wanted to feed my chocobo, so i bought pots and seeds, but being a n00b gardener i never got anything i wanted lol. Like i say, i will take a look at the links, thanks for your help =).

Yea. I've always found that it takes gil to make gil. I've often found myself having to divert attention to things completely unrelated to my original task just to get sub-tasks done which were started to get the income needed to complete my main objective.

For example, I would need A item. A item costs B gil so I start doing C activity. However I do not have the gil to continue C activity so I start doing D activity to build up gil so I can do C activity. D activity brings in very little gil so I have to do it alot until I have enough to begin C activity which can bring in more.

I often found myself killing enemies to get the gil so I could fish to get enough gil to craft a certain item for sale on AH just so I would have enough gil to craft a better item to sell several times to get enough gil to buy my item.

Good luck in your endeavors. Everyone is in the same boat as you, you just have to get your own personal income to the point that you can feel sufficiently self-sustained.

lol start a casino or something.. that might help..

or kill some freaking beastmen, and get some gil from them..
ummm, go kill some crawlers and get some silk. i am sure stacks of silk are better than 10k when i played..

hmmmm, do not beg, i dont even play anymore, and i find that silly.
do some quests, like gamion said.. ****, go do some mining, that is actually how i started getting my gil to start up my goldsmithin, to off-shoot my stupid casino that was so controversial lol...

anywho, just go farm some stuff that is easy for ya, ****, go out to giddeus, i believe that was the name of the place, and go train some stupid yagudo, and sell all the necklaces, or desynth them to get some of that stuff it desynths into..

then start up a casino lol, and tell everybody Hiptaru told you to do it. lol

good luck

One of the best ways I used to find to make gil is to solo a job to 20. You can average about 10k/level easy.

You don't need any gear for the first 7 levels at least so don't waste gil there. Head out with as much inventory space as possible and save everything you get. Make sure you have signet on so you can get crystals as well.

In East Saruta you can get fire crystals, bird feathers, silk thread, beehive chips, honey plus various other things that are all worth decent gil.

You can do level 1-12 in about 5-7 hours if you just beat the crap out of decent mobs for your first 5 levels then easy prey the rest of the way.

OMFG!! Hip is still around ^^ sup d00d

i agree with him, start a casino! (i came into the casino light, shortly after him.)

but first, stick to farming silk threads, and yag. necklaces.. them are very good sources of gil at the start of your FFXI career.

The only way to get that equipment without buying from the AH is to either craft it, or to buy it from another person.

The act of a Casino is not something that was meant to be implemented by the game developers. There is a command you type, which is /random. When you type that, a random number appears in your chat box. Anyone can do this, as many times as they want. Basically, a Casino, is someone who sits there and says something along the lines of "my rates are this, you can bet between this and this". Then people come up, trade you money, and you both do /random trying to see who wins based on the rates that you set. If they win, you pay them their money back plus the winnings, if they lose, you keep the money. It's something alot of players don't like because these Casino guys just sit there and spam away with their text macro filling the screen up with mindless junk every 2 seconds. It's not a foolproof way to make money because if the person wins, then you gotta pay them their winnings out of your pocket. I mean, just like a real Casino, the odds are with the house (i.e. you), but there is risk involved and many people will blacklist you for spamming the macro.

[edit]In regards to your second edit, it's never a problem to ask for help here. That's what the forums are for. :P[/edit]

^ for blaze spikes ^

Don't ever buy stuff you can quest, especially if you actually need it.
Happy gil hunting. :p

I'm from another server but thought I'd try to add helpful info anyway.

You can do well with fishing without the clothes used to enhance it. I went through about 10 levels of fishing without the clothing and did fine. You can also kill goblin fishermen (or whatever they're called) which sometimes drop fishing poles. I started out fishing to get ingredients for cooking, but now I use it more for earning gil. It's a boring and tedious task but it does pay off, and it pays better and better the higher you level it up. Don't forget the fishing test at the Windurst guild if you want to take it past level 10.

As others have mentioned, farming can bring in quite a bit of gil. I have one low-level character I use just for farming in Windurst, mainly for beehive chips, honey, and silk threads. Harvesting is also great, and the only equipment you need are the sickles which you can get from the npc (don't buy from the AH).

As for the carrots, many have said they feed their chocos the much cheaper sandy carrots intead of vomp and the chocos do fine. I dunno if that is always the case. I am fortunate in that mine likes the cheaper greens.

Good luck, and it's nice to see you are actually doing things to get gil. A lot of people will ask for gil in these forums and then whine when people tell them how to earn it. I am glad to see you're not one of them. Smiley: smile

Please don't start up a casino - There's very little that bugs me in this game, but having to see the same casino macros every 30 seconds while I'm trying to either buy or sell stuff on the AH is one of those things. It's an instant /blist add {playername} for me and I think a few others too.

Do the easy thing....go to a starter area and just take a look on the relevant AH to see what sells quickly. Then go and farm a few stacks of whatever it is you decide on.

Put the first stack on the AH a little lower than the going price and it should sell quickly. You will have enough gil to put the rest on the AH. Try and farm things that sell well and you'll have a nice starter fund growing.

To make gil in this game is time consuming, the more time you put into it, the more gil you will end up with if you do a little research.

Anyway, good luck with whichever way you decide to do it. {/grin}
