Bonus Story: Morning After

“Agghh...” I moaned softly, coming to with my eyes blinking rapidly over and over again from the bright light overhead.

The broken tile pattern felt cool beneath my burning red cheek, and I sluggishly raised my left hand in an attempt to wipe away some gunk that was dribbling away from my lips. It took several attempts before I was able to get most of it off with the back of my hand, and it took me a moment more before I realized that I was probably laying in a pool of my own vomit.

I let my hand flop back down on the ground in mindless disgust, and tried to clear the haze that flooded my mind.

Last thi...last thin...

My mind tried to process information and spew it back out at me in a format that I could understand, but all it did was instead fail miserably in the process.

The whole room felt rather hot, and I could swear that I was going to start puking in a cold sweat again any moment.

So why can’t I stop shaking?

That single thought burst through crystal-clear, as if I had been wondering lost for many years in the dark and finally rediscovered the light.

Can’t breathe. Chest hurts.

How did I wind up here, my stomach puked up and my heart feeling like it’s gonna burst out of my chest any second?

I couldn’t remember last night after...

After...

Elayne kissed me goodbye, and ended things, just as the full moon turned black.

Everything else is a blank...

I tried to move my legs, but they weren’t responsive to my brain’s commands. A deep groan echoed away from my mouth, some leftover bile making a sick plap sound as it flung out from my mouth and smacked into the some random tile grout.

I wanted to cry.

Tears are useless, I chided myself harshly.

They have never are able to fix things, they never have been able to change anything. And they won’t bring her back to me...

I closed my eyes, trying to let my chest to begin to breathe again. The cold leaking in through my eyelids from the darkness and started to envelop my body.

I fell back into it’s embrace, letting my thoughts give way to nightmares.
