So yeah been playing this game almost since NA release. I'd really like to do end game content such as sky fights and such at some point in my ff career.
I work almost everyday from 8am pst to around 6-7pm pst. tuesdays and thursdays I work and have wrestling training and 1 or 2 saturdays a month i have wrestling events. Its alot of work.
So are there any sky linkshells that would be willing to let me come along? Let me come do sky events. Drops? I dont care to much for, it would be nice but not really on the top of my list. Or work out a point system for me idont care. Dont think i get any gear off gods in sky as a drg anyway.

Johnma
73 drg (14k to 74 baby!)
ZM14
PM 3-5
lv 72 cooking.

SOMEONE LET JOHNMA COME KILL SOMETHING!!!

People probably think it is harsh, but you're a drg. What do you think you can do against sky gods. You don't even have thief or samurai sub leveled. You might want to consider leveling up those or a new job before trying to get into sky.

being a drg has nothing to do with it. drg is my only lv 75 job and i do fine on all the gods. hell my old sky shell let me melee kirin the entire fight. so before you sit there and say "oh your just a drg" fkn learn what drgs can do. i use /war for the NQ gods and /sam vs kirin but thats only because i don't have /thf yet.

This is very true. Last night I merited with a DRG in Caed mire, this person did quite well, they were gainin TP as fast as my NIN which is quite tricked out for TP gain.

@BalforX Very true.

May we say "Oh, you're just a drg with only WAR sub", then, or is that not all right either?

He's a dragoon, i.e. a melee DD that doesn't have a unique and redeeming special ability for use on most difficult monsters. He doesn't have two of the three preferred subs, so says his sig. Anyone else see what I mean?

Thanks to SE's excellent game-design skills, if you didn't get a special main-job melee ability (sam, thf, to an extent drk), you need to be pimp as hell to compensate, or so most think. Therefore, a 73drg without /thf or /sam, IF your LS wanted a part-time person, could be replaced by a 75drg with both. Or another 75 melee with pimper gear and/or who has their subs leveled.

(Mages, on the other hand, get a free ****ing ride. And christ does that depress me when I look at the other blms lfg at 75. There's a reason we solo after all.)

Thats true Johnma, but the fact is that end-game wise, most melee are encouraged to have /sam and /thf leveled. /thf is used mostly for garunteeing a hit when you weaponskill and /sam is used for tp bonus and getting tp via meditate when you are out of alliance. End-game sky, at least, isnt about making certain jobs work these days, its about not losing pop items because you didnt have the strongest group possible in there to win against gods. Often the strongest group can include jobs that are not viewed as 'ideal' but having that label of not 'ideal' means you need to have all your resources lined up to prove people wrong.

All I can say is that I know you are a competant player, so why not go ahead and level your THF and SAM to 37 and really show ppl what you can do.

Me, personally? I hate all DRG's based solely on the fact that Balfor is a DRG. He has shown me one, and only one thing as a DRG, he can die better than anyone I know.

This is exactly what I would have said if I was eruditer and less lazy.

There's a reason /thf and /sam are gold standard, after all. We're in the phase of FFXI where we've proven they work, and it's a ***** to overturn tradition like that.

you have plenty of reason to talk about subjobs lvled but the other poster was generalizing about the drg class in general.

and as /whm a drg can easily main heal a DD pt in an end game situation. i've done it before back before i got /sam up.

Geez you guys, Johnma's a good guy. Throw him a frickin bone. You guys who take this game so seriously need to get laid. Let the guy in to have some fun for goodness sake.

You guys should get a roving prostitute, and on the nights you give Johnma your slot in game, she comes to your house and talks dirty to you. ^^

I know he's a good guy. I have known him in game for quite some time. But where does the throwing of the bone stop? I was simply saying that he should level some of his subs up to compete with the other endgame people that have leveled subs for many different purposes.

Look at yourself for example. You have /WAR and /THF, 2 very sought after subs for DRK. Without that /THF sub, you think you'd get into an end-game shell that you didnt start yourself? You wouldnt. It doesnt happen. Why let a DRG in without proper subs when there are 20 other DRG's with proper subs leveled.

And as far as getting a life, lol, you wish you had mine.

I didn't say "Life", I said you guys should get "laid".

And the reason is "it's just a game."

Game: A game is a structured or semi-structured, contrived activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment.

johnma is one of my best friends in this game but the fact remains that he(and i) both need to get thf sub lvled and he also should get sam up.

Wow, I like Johnma, and he is a good guy. If I had an LS that did this, I would let him participate. If he is only part time, and it only happens once in awhile, and there is not alot to be gained BY him in this, then let him do it. You say your his friend? Wow, how do you treat the people you don't like? Or does that matter if the non friend has his subs leveled? Nice.

Thats even better! If thats the criteria to being acceptable in your eyes, then I am so glad to be in your good graces!

Grats Johnma on getting in to Armonia. Grats Naeo for finally coming back. I'm not into endgame these days, but if you start a Dynamis run or runs and want a stat tank or stat destroyer just let me know.

I also should level my Thf. But, I feel exactly the same about the job as you do. I'm not too fond of leveling it. But, I'm gonna have to one of these days... *sigh*
