Sweet zombie jesus, WTF is with the sudden huge influx of 200+ gilsellers being lvl'd all at the same time? Does this not raise ANY suspicion with SE? I just finished with a party in eastern altepa, competing with 30-40 people, all in alliance, killing everything in sight (albeit with lots of deaths/homepointing, i had plenty of laughs watching the same taru die and hp 4 times to one dhalmel) 2/3rd's of them have no subjob, lvl 10 or below equipment, and "Buy?" in their bazaar comment? Spamming tell's to random people "Nosubwhm>> Invite yes i white magic"
Qufim Island is packed, Crawlers nest has been taken over, and Eastern/Western Altepa is littered with galka's voking and taru's casting till they die. Im sure kuftal, gustav, bibiki bay and cape terrigan are next. I can already tell gil will be 10 bucks for 2mil by the end of the year again, and we will all get ****** in the process.
Don't get me wrong, my PT was chaining 5 fine, we had no problems finding stuff to kill. Fact of the matter is, SE wouldnt see the broad side of a barn if it had Gil-5 bucks a mil painted on it. Its just plain wrong and unjust to people who actually play the game, earn their gil/equip/friends whathaveyou.Thumbs up their asses instead of on the ban button.
REAL players do not exp in alliance. Real players upgrade their gear when its possible. real players even get their subjobs before 39 for christ's sake. real players also get suspended for using windower, so go figure.

Praise the good lord for giving us booze, cuz that's the only thing keeping my head from exploding at this point.

now for something completely different:

And it is the exact some on practically every single other server there is at the moment. Don't think that SE will actually ever bother to do anything about it cause they never have.

Their so called RMT countermeasures aren't exactly working.

Actually I believe their current stance is "Just because a person has more time to play than others does not make them a gil seller." They've said that in multiple interviews. And the only bannings involved were those using exploits to obtain said gil, thusly until these new groups use one of those exploits or some other dubious methods, they will never be touched.

Just get used to them and have a few laughs at their expense. THEY SUCK.

To stop the RMT in Altepa:

Level NIN to 40.

Flag the AF1 quest.

Train the two NM spiders that spawn for this quest to the zoneline where four or five RMT parties are camped.

Observe and enjoy.

First off anyone who say SE action on RMT have not worked, probably buy their gil XD j/k but for real the price on most everything have dropped so much. and the other dude right if this new batch of possbile Rmt gets to 75 we will see prices slowly go up again. But SE can't do **** all tell they see the gil flowing between the RMT accounts. I would image once the large sums of Gil start moving around accounts will be flagged and watched. For now we just sit and watch these Ultimate Noobs lv their gimmpy jobs.

With SH down to like 3mill & Pcharm down to 10 and many many other items coming down slowly. I have some degree of faith in SE actions and future actions. That and several new laws being made up to counter Rmt business in the RL.

Gl to everyone.

Actually, I see this as proof that RMT countermeasures are working. All of their accounts got banned so now they have to run out and level up new characters again.

I would think that due to the large amount of players they have leveling, that this is not for the purpose of farming/selling gil. RMT's only really need a good 8-12 ppl to take down most things that drop big ticket items. What this looks like is raising characters to be sold online. RMT's dont need 70+ ppl to get the claims with their methods. They can get 70 characters to level 40, sell em for $50 a pop and, in addition to normal activites for them, make a couple grand on the top. Not to mention that those groups xping could easily be controlled by a few people.

Sorry, I don't have a link but I too read an article about this somewhere. Supposedly the Chinese government is working on laws or some bullcrap to make it illegal. Who knows?

Article relates to Rmt in both SquareEnix & Blizzards MMorpgs. And makes a comment on Real world awareness of the situation as its seen as a form of fraud in some situatuons & an unregulated industry.

Could it be that the Crappy RMT Newbies (CRN) are farming beast seals?

I've been actively CRN hunting for the last couple weeks, and I think I might have noticed something.

We know they use crap gear (except the tank will usually have almost-on-par gear). We know they use no sub or crap sub (saw a 40WHM/01MNK).

We also know that they are extremely inefficient for exping.

I cite Triumphantmule as a case-study. Over two weeks of 24-7 exping, he's gone from a 23 WAR to an amazing 43 WAR. That's about 350 hours of exping. If you (or any other "normie") exp's for 350 hours, I would seriously hope you gain more than lvl 23-43.

I've also seen him in parties with extreme level difference (5+ level gap).

This reminded me of "diamond mining" parties. These are where you get a lot of people (the fuller alliance the better), all with signet (aketons are bonus), and go slaughter EP mobs. As long as the mob is EP, each individual has a chance of getting a crystal drop. So, a diamond mining party can gross hundreds of high-value crystals with extremely little effort.

So then I apply this reasoning to CRNs.

If they are intentionally doing stuff that nets crappy experience, could there be other tangible goals?

If you throw together an 18-person alliance (maybe with some THF in there?), and go slaughter a lot of EPs, as a group could you net a lot of seals? Have 1 person on quartermaster (or designated lotter), and collect all the seals. And then, when you have hundreds of seals, set up a BC group.

If the end goal is BC drops (PCC, Leaping Boots, E.Hairpin, Ust.Ni, etc.), then the exp gain is merely a bonus. And, when they've exhausted the exp gain (and seals), they can sell the accounts for more bonus.

Thoughts?

Either way, I will continue my CRN campaign.

Euhm...you might want to look again then? Because every old gilseller is still around. This is just a lot more new ones that are being added.

The numbers of the lvl 70+ rmt haven't exactly dropped, right now with all of the new ones leveling it's just going to increase drastically. So I disagree.

I don't make it a practice to run around counting gil sellers, I have better things to do with my time when I'm playing. All I can do is cite that prices are much lower than when I quit. I've read other threads in the general forum that document that fact as well.

I did however attend a King Arthro camp this weekend where we lost claim to some gilsellers.

i remember reading about how on WoW there are services that powerlvl a toon for you within a specified period of time...though since it's usually so crash-course-like, the toons are still gimped at their current lvl (bad equipment, not much gold, bad stats, etc.). i wonder if they are now doing this on ffxi, because that could also be tied into theories of gilsellers recklessly lvling like they are in CN and altepa. idk, just a thought

however, i've been on vacation for a month, so i haven't seen anything new since the first week of july (can't wait to come back sunday)
