Yes, I know RMT is in the title.

Now, I know we've all seen hundreds of threads about RMT. With the recent 2000+ ban/suspend, we'll probably be seeing more of a growing epidemic.

Crappy newbie RMT party / alliances.

The practically own the dunes and qufim island.

You know what I'm talking about. A herd of 20-somethings, rank 1, in level 1 gear with no subs.

They're very entertaining, as one over-matched mob decimates an entire alliance. /joy

Well, today I was running from qufim island OP warp to Jeuno (a bit faster than the airship, especially with /THF for flee). I see a weapon aggro some newbie mage in newbie mage gear. I check said newbie mage, and I'm astonished (sarcasm) to see all starter RSE. Newbie warrior vokes weapon, while another newbie mage casts something on weapon. Newbie warrior dies. Then newbie caster mage dies. Then original newbie mage dies.

I figured there was probably a RMT camp in the island somewhere... and maybe if I change into my BST, I could "farm" gillseller mobs.

So I did.

I had to drop all the pugil scales because, well, they're crap... But they're good to build TP for when you kill a elemental or crab. Yeah, I like the salt. Farming salt on RMT exp crabs is the best. Well, maybe not as good as farming pugil scales for the TP. Or maybe the giants for the gil drops. Yeah, I think giant gil drops are the best.

After 3 hours of "farming" I amassed two stacks of rock salt, 3 lightning clusters, and about 2000 gil (/hurray for giant gil drops!).

And I had the pleasure of witnessing at least a dozen RMT newbie deaths. I wonder what their net exp/hour gain was...

It was one of the most fullfilling farming sessions of my FFXI career.

Maybe this is a "cure" for gillsellers? Invest an hour of "farming" when you see a RMT tribe?

-spanky

PS. if anyone cares...

Note - Maybe some of these are actual players, but guilt by association. Oh well.

Hephaestus isn't RMT. I don't know him too well, but if anyone else can confirm, I believe he's endgame in one of the LS's with High level smithing if I remember correctly.

Hephaestus leads Chimaera, so he isn't involved with RMT. I don't think Pyromaniac is either.

I did something like this recently. I was walking to Pashhow to help a friend learn a spell, when we saw a party of gilsellers in Rolanberry Fields. I'm on my 29 SMN, so I use Frost Armor and start spam-curing them. We don't stay long, though; we have a spell to learn.

So when we were done, I came back as RDM. I cast Ice Spikes and started Curing them. When I got /tells saying "ty," I realized they thought I was power leveling them. So I used /heal to pull a Quadav that was much too strong for their level 25 party. They attacked it! I stopped healing them and watched them die. They almost wiped, but they home pointed and walked back to camp like it was nothing.

Then, and this is the funny part, they pull another Quadav like the one that just killed them! They almost wipe yet again. When they get back, I pull another Quadav. This time they don't attack it; they seem to have realized I'm trying to kill them. They start sending me /tells saying things like "you are rubsh" and "pig." Since they won't attack my Quadav anymore, I leave.

Gloamglozer isn't RMT. He's in my Linkshell and quite a good player. Please, to "assume" is to make an "***" out of "u" and "me". Unless you have hard proof these individuals are RMT, don't be listing names on a forum.

Hephaestus is definitely not an RMT. He's a sick player who should not be confused with crappy RMT players.

I also can confirm that Gloamgloazer is definitely NOT a RMT...

Please be careful with such calumnies.

Okay, I can believe that Heph, Gloam, and Pyro aren't RMT. They just happened to be in the area of RMT camp, appeared to either be in party with them or PL'ing them. Maybe they were just running through and were being nice. Maybe they got picked up for exp with RMT. Maybe they're playing with friends that happen to be allergic to subs and decent gear. Or, maybe, they actually do help out RMT. I dunno.

I already noted in my OP that some of the people probably aren't RMT.

But even if they are completely 100% legit, have never assisted RMT parties in any way... Out of a list of over 30, ya'll vouched for 3.

The only RMT mobs I "farmed" were in qufim, when there were 3 parties of 20-somethings (no subs, crap gear). I was later partying with my wife, and saw Triumphantmule (with his buddies) in wadi. I decided to "farm" some rabbit hides and animal glue (rabbits and gobs).

I saw the LS Songwithoutyou in dunes once getting PL'ed by Lovelv. Lovelv is notorious for RMT, so I would 'assume' they are as well seeing that they are in an alliance w/ Lv 1 gear and no subs. Again, assuming, but I find it hard to believe that all these xbox players are so ignorant to the game, even when I first started playing on PS2 there wasn't as much people thinking it was ok to xp in alliance and stay at rank 1 w/o subs. Too many factors.

Ah, the joys of farming in Korroloka Tunnel. I walked out with two stacks of bat wings.

Now, I have never (and never will) "farm" in areas that are ambiguous (may be populated by just low lvl players who don't have gear and don't know better). Thus, all of my "farming" takes place in areas where most exp parties are 20+. In my opinion, being in a full party (and/or alliance) of 20-somethings with no subs and 90% lvl 1 gear... Well, that eliminates doubt. My comments about dunes above were from me running through the area, NOT from me "farming" there.

Crappy RMT Nebies seen / suspected (23 JUL - Korr. Tunnel)
Aralya
Triumphantmule
Dumeaumapielle
Tuchoyobochoyo
Wosadamfisada
Pyumimyipyumyi

Devinaurse
Agepehpeh
Chohyohyo (of note below)
Yozaza
Artizal
Conceitedenigma
Hahuhyuhyu

Goldendragon
Yebedebye
Ciaudette
Hoshoohneshooh

Chohyohyo had lots of things to say. I think he's now my buddy. (Does /blist add - put someone on your buddy list?) But, his english was horrible, so he wrote in what I will assume is chinese.

If only I could read chinese. I think he was probably talking about how much he loves me, thinks I'm the awesomest player ever, and wants to be impregnated by me. At least that's what I'll assume he said.

If anyone wants to translate Chohyohyo's /tells (I'm putting my guesses in parentheses):
"ting bu dongi ma ni" ("I want to feel you inside me")
"cao ni ma ma" ("I want to be your children's mamma")
"Cao ni ma bi" ("I want to have your babye")
"Ni mu mei bi" ("I think I'm bisexual")
"Ni ta ma de gun" ("I want you to make love to me with a gun")
"Ni ta ma de dun" ("I just pooped myself")

So, on the off chance that all these players are truly legit and I'm just a jackalope, well, I'm sorry. On the chance that some of these are actual players, well, choose your parties better. On the overwhelming odds that the vast majority of those named are in fact gillsellers, well, I'm glad I can have an impact.

If one player, "farming" for an hour or two, can infuriate 15 gillsellers, how much more could we accomplish if others participated? I mean, it's not too hard or time consuming to go farm up some materials.... Just do a /sea all for your favorite suspected RMT newbidiot. Pack your bags, clear some inventory, and go farm.

Be sure to /wave, /cheer, /hurray often. And they love it when you /random, repeatedly, while they're fighting. And when you see a herd of mobs, a well placed diaga works wonders. Sometimes (read: often) they'll pull one of the mobs you dia'd, spend all that time fighting it, and get no exp. Now I know what you're thinking... if they kill your mob, then you don't get the drop. Yeah, that sucks. RMT newbies are such asses sometimes. So rude.

The next gen RMTs have moved on to sit in the desert sun in Eastern Altepa Desert.
The Great* bunch was there, as were a whole collection of other 25/- rank 1s from Bastok...

I took a screenshot, and will write down the names later during the update ;)

OMG lol
I laughed when I saw heph on the
Quote:
"Not RMT"
list.
You probably just /check'd him when he wore like 5 pieces of armor in the dunes >< (lol, what does a few more defense do for a bard at that level anyway?)
anyways yeah, I know what you mean about RMT newbs poping up, me and heph were just partying in Yuhtunga and a pt of 28's with lvl 1 subs were fighting mandragora's on top of our pt, and when they wiped to one goblin they got another pt of them to alliance up, 12 of them lvl 28 fighting goblins on top of us.
GM didn't(couldn't really?) do much about them camping on top of us, but he did take not of multiple groups of newb (bad armor, etc.) ppl apearing on multiple servers
you should prolly take those that aren't RMT off of your post^^

EDIT:
oh yeah, I might need to "farm" some 4-leaf mandragora buds if they are in yhoatar tomorrow..
EDIT2:
they don't drop in yhoatar >< oh well I'll try anyway

I ran into Andromadus (whm) or whatever his name is and their war Honestvalley friday night in the dunes on my way to the outpost to get home to Sandy.

Honestvalley was a 22 war. Andro was a 20 whm. The rest of their party was 4 blm consisting of level 15 and 16. After a night of sleep 8 hours later i see they are still partying and their whm is at least at 22 now.

Not a 1 of them had subjobs. The war was in level 10 armor all others were in level 1 starter. They took offense to my watching them from the outpost and kept sending tells in broken English.
