Later tho, I saw the THF with his flag up & I sent him a tell gently XD suggesting that he go level his sub. He said that he was thinking the same thing lol, but then he also said "I'm afraid to talk to people and ask for help or advice because all they do is make fun of me"
Send him here to Allakhazam. Yeah, we tend to make fun of ourselves, and it's not taken too seriously. ;-P Honestly, the biggest reason why I wasn't a complete noob was that I came here and read up on stuff. Ok, I admit to not knowing about Mog Houses until level 8 or 9 (and got quite a few laughs from my linkshell), but coming here was the smartest move I ever made.

I'm so proud of us :P I think we all should Adopt-A-Noob. The server will profit from it.
Good idea. It's been a habit of mine to pick up stray noobs, vacinate them, and then show em the basics. Starts with the usual "Hey, can someone show me (how to do this/where I can maps/various items related to the AH/etc)?" Asking for gil handouts leads to the reply "Hey, I can't give you gil, but I can introduce you to my /blist."
I'm not using this moment to earn a gold star, though it seems that way. I've done this on and off for a few months, and I've profited in a few ways by doing this. By adding them to my friend list, I tell em to toss me a question via /tell or mail. Sometimes, I get an occasional "Hey, thanks for helping me out." Other times I get a "Hey, can you help me out with such-and-such?" And for a few of lowbies I helped and synthed gear for, I've recieved payment as such for that stuff at least 5 fold. I've gotten crystals, materials, a few unexpected (and very much appreciated) raises. Wintaru can attest to the raises when we did the BCNM 30 two weeks ago.
Yes, it can be annoying, tedious, and all, but it does pay off. And it also has a few moments. Quick story time here: First newb I helped was a Taru named Neovivi. I had just learned invis and was running through Bastok Mines. Saw him looking lost. Started /poke-ing him. He started looking round and then sent me a tell "Where are you?" So, to add to the fun factor, I went right in front of him, did /sit, and then dropped the invis. Then I /waved. He grinned and said "Wow, that was fun. Thanks. I was getting ready to quit until that." So I brought him into Hipnat (my LS at the time) and got him aquainted. Dunno what happened to him, but he was fun to hang around. Managed to convince him that at level 75, you get your own Moogle familiar. XD
