You *deleted* your character or *canceled* it? Because if you cancelled it, they keep them for 12 months now I believe.
If you deleted him, I think the return to vana'diel campaign is over, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. Might as well give it a shot though.

Techs will restore a deleted character once and only once. You need to know the name, server, basic level information, race, jobs, etc in order to further help their search.
The process can take up to one real life week, or it can take as little as two hours, depending on how much the techs feel like busting your balls at the time (mine took five days).
If you call the Play Online tech service number found on their website, or in your FFXI booklets that you received with the game, it'll give you touch-tone options, etc.. then you'll be put on the line with a live customer service representitive.. and I use the term loosely... and you'll be directed on what to do.

yeah I'm back massy lol. Not as much as I once was though. I log on every couple of days to get my *** kicked by maat and say hi to people, but that's about it.
Maybe It will change to full time again..who knows.^^
