Ok so a recent thread has gotten me thinking...

Are you playing what you thought you were going to be playing when you, bright eyed and brain full of deeds of Valour first purchased FFXI?

For example when I picked up FFXI I was determined I was going to be an Elvaan Dragoon. Then I made one of those goose necked freaks (I love you guys ^^)and decided I would be a Hume whm and named him Morty now Here I am over a year later and I am a Hume RDM/BLM, and a Galka DRK/WAR lol.

Best laid plans...

EDIT: Galak... lol

i started the game knowing i wanted to be elvaan but wasn't sure if i wanted to go sam, drk, or drg. ended up unlocking drk first, then sam, then drg. didn't get drk above 6 because my closest in game friend went drk, got sam to 28 before i dropped it. its up to 32 now lvling it for sub and as second main. i took drg all the way to 75 though.

I fell in love with taru WHM's back in with my first couple characters in dune pts. I wanted to be one of them so bad.

Erase made me hate it, and almost made me quit.

I hated the idea of crafting until I made level 3 with cooking. Haven't looked back since.

Now, I'm still deciding what to be >.>

Well I thought the game had more roll playing elements. Everyone was so impersonal and joked to much. I love to joke around, but at times fart jokes just ...ugh...let it go?

Also I did a lot of research. I determined that I would start off as Monk and switch to beastmaster or ranger. I'm a outdoors nature guy, and both seemed to really cater to my interests.(Using animals to beat stuff up with HAHA). I played monk to about 21, when I decided to level rdm as a sub. I started leveling Red Mage ...and kinda took it to 54. So I never really got to sub anything. Red Mage was a job I completely overlooked.

Along with Thf, and Drk, I'm loving these jobs, and still love to put on monk gear.

But when i was finally able to become a beastmaster...it became quite clear that after 10 it wasnt the job for me. Neither was Ranger.

I was always gonna be a hume Samurai with Jaden.. I don't know.. it always seemed to appeal to me. Them I made this taru mule.. and my boyfriend had one that we decided to lvl together. Well after about 18 on his he stopped playing his. I kept going because I was getting tired of samurai. Well.. now that little taru whm mule is lvl 70, and my first character is a lvl 59 samurai that feels like it is slowly becoming a mule.. how sad

Currently the Taru is 67 WHM, 47 BLM, and 41 RNG.

I started loving the healing job, but anymore I just can't get into it anymore. I'll probably finish it out to 75, but I haven't LFG for months as a WHM.

BLM is fun, but my recent love is RNG. Sadly my NIN is sitting at 20 so my RNG is stuck at 41 until I get the sub leveled >.<

When I started, I kept saying I'd go RDM. It seemed to me like it was closest to an EQ enchanter... or something.
I had this silly idea that a rdm/rng would rock.

When I got the box, for some reason, I started as monk. (well, some reason... once again EQ related; I thought monk would be more like theirs, I was looking forward to a challenge, what with the carrying as little weight as possible...... what a joke!)
I've ******* and whined, but I'm still a monk.

well when I started I was like the HUGEST fan of LOTR
and my favorite charector was, you guessed it, arwen!!!!!!1337
I wanted to make a charector that looked just like arwen and had the same job as arwen...
well when I made my elvaan, I looked at the hair types and there was like no long hair so I was like WTF1337BBQ!!!
SO I chose the longest hair there was, and then I didnt see the command that let you change hair color so I got stuck with white hair, so basically I looked nothing like Arwen at all, and the name arwen was already chosen so I had to pick Aerwen.. >.>
Anyway, at first I tried whm because that seemed closest to arwen's job, but I just hated whm
so then I switched to warrior, and then war/mnk, and finally sam
I guess I ditched the whole "arwen" Idea,
but I looked up what "aer" "wen" would be in elfish, and it means "sea lady" o.O
I guess that fits because samurais are like a pirate job.. and pirates sail in the sea..
well anyway yeah..
I guess my plans didnt turn out as expected

Yeah, same here.

Of course, I'm a hume.. and my DRG is level 7. I never really got too far on that whole thing. D:

I feel like Drow, though - both of us, apparentally, have taken long breaks from leveling in order to craft, and consequentially have 70+ cooking without actually doing G1 yet.

And Drow, I hate you for buying a Hocho 14 levels and 3 Genkais before you can use it. D:::

I came to the game wanting to be an Elvaan Dragoon... then I quit the game as a 65 Elvaan Dragoon in full purple sexiness armor, also had the full orange pumpkin armor for when I played Monk (level 60 when I quit). I also had the full set of Dark Knight armor before I even finish G1 lol, granted I only took DRK to 50... Other then that I did everything I wanted to do in game, though I do kind of regret quitting before I got DRG to 75. But alas, I deleted my character and said that I was never coming back... which still holds true today, even though I do lurk these boards out of boredom.

I started this game wanting to be a BLM. Being the efficiency freak that I am, I wanted to pick the race that had the most MP and INT to help my casting. That turned out being Tarutaru. I didn't wanna be someone's dinner. So I picked Hume and decided to just deal with it.

Today I am a 75 BLM/RDM, and I've had fun every step of the way. ^^

Edited 'cause I felt like it.
