This is the best news I've heard in ages. Now I can finally go back and play the only melee job I ever really loved :D

Congrats DRGs, it's about time, isn't it?

As I've been saying all morning, "We'll believe it when we see it.". All my faith in SE had evaporated well before now, I'll be genuinely surprised if this is true. If it is, good news. Now all we'd have to do is convince the server of that as well, something that's been proven [Impossible to gauge].

I am a bit confused though. As I understood it Call Wyvern was the dragoon's two hour ability, now they are going to have a 20 minute ability? I mean I know a LOT of dragoons and I'm really happy for them, but doesn't that seems a little bit messed up? So the other jobs will have to wait 2 hours while a dragoon gets to use his every 20 minutes? That seems a bit unfair

Hello... i saw this last night i was like wow... they are actualy finally doing something about this wonderfully powerful melee job :P. Oh and a clarification they are adding the two hour the call wyvern will be come a stand alone ability not the two hour with a 20 min recast and they are adding subtle blow to the wyvvern.

Well, the deal is, the Dragoon gets a new two-hour ability, that will actually be useful when the sh*t hits the fan.
A lot of what was wrong with dragoon was that the wyvern was vulnerable to AOE, and when it died to AOE the dragoon was basically no longer a dragoon. He was a warrior with a polearm.
The wyvern was his unique ability, but if it died he would have to wait a good long time before he could resummon. This took away a good chunk of his damage, and was hella embarrassing, as I can attest as a lvl 30 DRG. -_-;

The dragoon isn't getting two 2-hours; they're just fixing the two-hour that should never have had a two-hour timer to begin with. Imagine if a SMN's avatars could only be called once every two hours. How useful would that be?

Jaden, our current 2 hour ability is Call Wyvern. After this patch we will be getting a new 2 hour ability. Our new 2 hour ability will add strength to both the Dragoon and our wyvern ... also giving us some new effects with "Jump".

Our "Call Wyvern" ability will now no longer be our 2 hour. It will now be a Job ability with a 20 minute timer.

They are also giving the Wyvern an ability like "Subtle Blow".

This is very very good news for us Dragoons! No more standing around Jeuno for days LFG with no party invites. Dragoons will hopefully now appear as equals to any other DD Melee class. And Dragoons will now have the ability to play a significant role in End Game battles and even BCNM's.

I personally can't wait for this update. Dragoon has been my life in Vana'diel for months now. But the 40's and 50's have really been a drag for me ... now it's time for redemption!! WOOHOO!!

This is perhaps one of the most surprising updates I've seen in the longest time.

I'm especially excited for all my DRG friends, seeing as they are often lacking in invites, and it pains me to see such great DD ability unharnessed :(

Big time congratulations to all the DRG that have stuck around this long. I hope to see more of you guys kicking more *** in my parties =D.

I dont play DRG, but I know at least one (BALFOR HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) that already hit 75 and wished the whole 75 levels that his wyvern could be called sooner than every two hours.

For all the other DRG's, congratulations!!!

Proof that no mater what you do, someone won't be happy with it.

I might start leveling Dragoon after update, I personaly think this change is a good one.

Imagine: A sumoner having to wait 2 hours to call Carby, or a Beastmaster waiting 2 hours to charm that tiger chomping away on their leg..........

What's it going to change to a dragoon getting parties? "Oh, Wow. DRG has a good 2h now. Let's get that DRG." Nah, Ain't happening. No one is going to invite a DRG just because of a new 2h.

Bowser, for the first time, i've agreed with him. The post 60 WS(Skewer, Wheeling Thrust, and Impulse Drive.) do need major enhancements. DRG WS modifiers are weak, and really don't bring anything out.

SE did finally do something in an attempt to enhance Dragoon, but they went about it the wrong way. The job did not need a new 2h, it needed better WS modifiers, and better WS in general. DRG is left in the dust when it comes to Weapon Skills.

In closing, DRG did not need fixing. The Weapon skills did.

Weak you know I love ya man, but you really shouldn't comment on WS's that you never got. Impulse Drive isn't that hot, and honestly I would rather stick with Wheeling Thrust.

That aside, I think this update is just what Drg's have been screaming for. Let's just hope they don't let us down with whatever they're plannin the new 2hour to do.

This both worries me and makes me scream like a little girl. We now have some godly ablities, call wyv is already amoung the BEST 2hr's, it is now a 20 min, that makes it exetremely strong. Our new 2hr, good lord in heaven please tell me that we don't get armies of n00bs running for drg purely for 2hr. Im going to hope that they do it well, and good lord, GIVE US LANCET! Jump is as much a signature move to dr as lancet. Give us lancet and I will never complain ever again. Anyway, I cant wait to try the new 2hr.

you son of a ***** **** you allakhazam and your ******* pop ups god damn!!! pop ups destroyed my post!! so anyway now that i have to type this again. im not seeing this as a very good fix. so its a dragoon only ability so that means its going to be level 38+? if thats the case it makes the first 37 levels of dragoon pointless really. also if its earlier than that then they should also take the biggest strengths of other jobs and make them specific to that job only too such as a wars berserk or double attack a sams meditate a ninjas utsusemi a drks souleater or stun a mnks counter a smns avatars a bsts charm and the list goes on for each job. square really didnt think their **** through when creating the dragoon job. i myself like dragoon the way it is but ive also never got it past level 30 with any of my 3 characters. sorry but i see square ******* things up as they always tend to do people crying nerf and square noticing that dragoon is gonna become an unstoppable powerhouse with this.

In all likelyhood, Call Wyvern will be a lvl 1 ability with a 20 minute timer, which can only be used on DRG main.
Whether it's available on a subjob depends on a simple boolean. How this works can be seen on 2-hour abilities and SP weaponskills.

LOL Hahaha He's just insane! I've seen him serious in ballista, he's a good player.

I only wonder how badly this will increase the generation gap, in { older/ original/ "real"/ veteran (Whatever word they wind up using)} Dragoons, and rookie Dragoons. I already know there is going to be a lot of hollering, about n00b Dragoons out there, that don't know how good they got it, and they will never be the players the oldschoolers were.

But I'll offer this, in the interest of those yet to come, myself included. Just because things are going to be somewhat easier, than it used to be, does not mean that there won't be those of us, who will not give 150% into our job, and always strive to keep that excellence.

Congrats, Dragoons, on your new change, in advance!
And, for you veterans, give us new guys a chance, we might just impress you.

Eh.. I don't think this fixes DRG, but I do think it justifies having them in a BC party or a CoP party now that (hopefully) they have a good 2-hour. I know DRG is easily capable of going through CoP, but a general pick-up party will not say "hey, let's get a DRG instead of anyone else with a better 2-hour."

They need better skillchain placement, weapon skills, and equippable armor. That's my gripe with DRG. The call wyvern ability will help a bit for experience points parties, since it makes their leveling spots with the wyvern out a bit more flexible.

Are we talking about the same Zariko? lol, last time I fought him in Ballista I was a PLD/NIN without Utsusemi: Ni and he still never hit me. o_o

I agree with him though, if anything, DRG needs better WSes. Wheeling Thrust is good as it is, it might not do as much damage as Spinning Slash or Tachi: Gekko with their massive STR modifiers, but Wheeling Thrust has a DEF piercing trait. It still does respectable damage on mobs like Genbu or Aspid while other WSes are doing double digits. Impulse Drive could use a big boost though, and I think Wheeling Thrust could afford to have a touch more damage to it.

Skewer just ignore, it's a Lv200 WS. Most of those are worthless WSes anyways. ;p

before we really sit down and discuss how this update will change a drg's role we should see exactly HOW the new 2hour works and what it does. SE was very vague about what it will do. so until i see how this 2hour will work, i'm going to remain neutral about "the new drg".

also, the only real fix drg needs is WS modifiers.
