So, you finally hit 75 and now you wish to join an end-game
linkshell? You want to finally obtain all the gear you've been
dreaming of, and you feel that one of these shells is just the
ticket. Well, look no further, because I will fill you in on all you need to know about these high profile LS.

Choosing a linkshell that's right for you

First, you must realize that there are several different kinds of
HNMLS that you can choose from. The different types and a brief description are below.

"Established" LS : These are the LS that have been
around for a while. You'll know these LS from the amount of
reshells they do at any given time. These are most often filled with every scumbag that exists on a given server, and all rmt superstars want in. They're known for their ability to kill pretty much everything. The standards for getting into these LS are stringent, so unless you are equipped like a rmt superstar, or have connections, forget about getting in.

If you do happen to get in, remember that your entire self-worth is derived from whether or not you're able to kill tiamat with less than 30 people or kill Vrtra. You must also portray your shell and all its members as the pinnacle of video game excellence. Remember, everyone wants to be like your shell and if people criticize you or your methods, then they're just jealous of your video game glory. Remember to reflect this in every post to a forum you ever make. Your shell is the archetype that all others will follow if they want to be 1337 and garner as much e-respect for their online alias as possible.

"Family" LS: These are a farce. They pretend like they foment a "family" atmosphere - free of the usual HNM drama, but they eventually cave to job demands, item greed, backstabbing, and finger pointing like every other HNM shell that has ever existed. you'll realize that this "tight-knit" feeling is quickly lost when you see that every single day you log on, there's some random new person in the shell due to job and body demands. Each new person has the potential to introduce conflict into the "happy-go-lucky" LS. Not just new people upset the balance of these shells, but long-time LS
members who become jaded also do this.

Newbie shell: This is a shell that is just starting. You'll know it when you see the shell filled to capacity with bright-eyed soft-skinned HNM virgins. These shells end up becoming a joke when they manage to constantly wipe to pop item NMs in sky, and because they can't claim fafnir but once a month, and die when they do. Members eventually become resentful to each other. After a while, some quit the game, some quit the HNM scene, and others just move on to other shells.

Laughing-stock LS: This is an LS that has done
everything imaginable to become a joke. MPK, inviting known RMT
people into their midst, massive leader corruption, LS bank robbing, claim stealing - you name it, they've done it.They'll accept pretty much anyone. Hell, they'd probably even shout for members in lower jeuno if they didn't happen to have enough bodies to throw at something hard.

JP/NA hybrid shells Every NA reject goes to one of
these shells. The leader is almost always JP, and accepts these
people due to job or gear (since a lot of them tend to be rmt).

The NA rejects usually were kicked from multiple NA shells, and the only people who will take them are JP. They're usually proud that a JP shell will accept them given the fact that they're japanophiles or have the mindset that "JP = 1337 lolz, therefore I'm 1337 by association."

Before the claim changes, they would brag about gear they leeched from the JP claim-bots they had in their midst, and how many HQ kings they fought. They enjoy belittling all of the NA shells that rejected them.

RMT shells These are pretty much just shells filled
with RMT people. doing a /sea all linkshell at any given time will reveal that the entire LS is in jeuno. They enjoy wearing 90 mil+ in gear and then standing around looking pretty. Bragging about gear bought with real-life money is par for the course here.

They're characterized by accomplishing nothing, and sucking at the game and life.

It is really funny to read but what even funnier and sad is most of them is true. . . More to read if you go to the link above and read them yourself. If you don't aggree any of these, that's fine by me. But it is still funny to read and have some laughter.

Don't forget to check out the Atmosphere section, Universal Requirement section and Conclusion section.

Yes, what you've heard is true. FFXI's endgame is just a giant E-peen swinging contest, with the majority of time spent standing around, and watching Moon-faced nerds "compare" video game "accomplishments" with each other via flame-wars on forums/in-game. Think your server is immune, or that your linkshell is the exception? Think again. Take a glance over at the KI server forums will show you that ALL server's end-game works this way, with slight variations.

Also, it's a little known fact that your knowledge of the game is directly proportional to how much time you spend waiting for (H)NMs to spawn.

So, what are you waiting for? start sending out those applications to the linkshell of your choice; a whole world of E-wars, having your contributions (no matter how large) questioned, and a sub-par game experience await you!

Forgot this link, also really funny at most part of it. Credit still goes to Spinshark. I would advice you go to original post for a colored version. I am too lazy to color them. The Behemonth section isn't as funny as the Dynamis section.

Reality Train: Hello everyone! it's your favorite dispenser of reality! Today, I'm playing the role of harbinger of the horrors of the endgame/level 75! Without further ado,

Today's lesson is:

Life at Level 75 and the Endgame
********************************************************

Reality Train:Here we watch as another person achieves the great accolade that is level 75 after months and months of hard work/blood/sweat/tears/caffeine. Surely great things are on the horizon!

---------------------------
Dumbass: Lolz, I'm 3 tnl till 75!!! I'm so excited! So much fun awaits me! OMG LEET AF2 GEARZ and GodZ here I ***!!1

Dumbass defeats the Decorative Weapon
Chain 23! Dumbass gains 12 experience points
Dumbass attains level 75!

Dumbass: OMG!! My life-long goal has been realized! I iz now 75! OMG w00ty! ******-inducing fun is right around teh corner!

/sh I'm 75!!!! Nothing but fun and l337ness awaits me!!11
--------------------------------------------
Reality Train: Poor sap, little does he realize the mind-numbing tedium that is end-game and level 75. Ego-driven end-game politics and bot monopolized HNM spawns are just a few of the wonderful things that are in store for him. Here we watch as this ignoramus does his first dynamis, oh the excitement!
--------------------
Dumbass: OMG! My first dynamis! W00t! I'll be rolling in the leet AF2 and fully upgraded relic weapons!

SMN mob uses Astral Flow!
64 person alliance is defeated by the Vanguard's Avatar
Dumbass falls to level 74

Dumbass: WTF just happened!! Gimme Raise 3 now!

Veteran: Um, no. You'll take whatever raise you can get, because we're running out of time.

Dumbass: Raise 1?!?! I'll lose so much exp!

Veteran: tough luck kid, that is the nature of Dynamis.

*1 hour later*

Dumbass was gangraped by a massive train caused by a bad pull.

Dumbass: OMG! this sucks! I have to take a 6th Raise 1!

Dumbass: we've been killing nonstop! Why has no <insert job here> AF2 dropped yet?

Veteran: <insert job here> AF2 rarely ever drops, noob.

Dumbass: Well, at least a relic weapon dropped!

Veteran Big deal, it's practically impossible to upgrade to the final version, and it costs millions and could take years. It's barely feasible.

*several time extensions later*

You find a <AF2 piece> on the dynamis mob

Dumbass: OMG! Yes!!!1111

Veteran: Wow, that's the first AF2 drop for <insert job here> I've seen in 2 weeks.

Dumbass's lot for the piece: 101
XXX's lot for the piece 354
XXX's lot for the piece 392
XXX's lot for the piece 621
XXX's lot for the piece 291
XXX's lot for the piece 257
XXX's lot for the piece 252
XXX's lot for the piece 282
XXX's lot for the piece 348
XXX's lot for the piece 348
XXX's lot for the piece 382
XXX's lot for the piece 984
XXX's lot for the piece 991
XXX's lot for the piece 493
XXX's lot for the piece 420
XXX's lot for the piece 392
XXX's lot for the piece 593
XXX's lot for the piece 657

Dumbass: OMG!! WTF!?! I lost the lot! What is with all these lotters?!?!

Veteran: /sigh
---------------------------
Reality Train: as you can see, Dynamis is lots (pun intended) of fun. if your run isn't sponsored, get ready to pay anywhere from 20-50k for nothing. Oh wait, I'm sorry, you do get something: massive XP loss and the necessity of having to spend several hours to gain that exp back, only to lose it again on another dynamis run. Let's not forget how extremely annoying it can be to synchronize 64 people to follow a set of instructions which more often than not requires reactive/time-based precision (sac pulls, etc.), even if it's all dynamis veterans, which in a lot of cases, it won't be. Many instructions need to be followed exactly, or else everyone will die. All it takes is one idiot to ruin a dynamis run for everyone.
Now let's follow the newb 75 on his first HNM camp!
-------------
Random: Behemoth window is now open!

Dumbass: w00t! I can get me some leet gears and abjurations! I can't wait to fight!

***time passes*** they arrive at camp

Dumbass: Ok, what now?

Random: Make a claim macro and spam it once I give you the word.

***an hour passes***

Dumbass: wow, this is really boring, and now we have competition??? hmm, it's a JP HNM LS! Bring it on JPs! SE has said we're on an even playing field, and if SE said it, it has to be true! After all, they're japanese!

Random: /sigh, not at all actually, but we'll continue camping for kicks since we've dragged everyone out here
already.

Dumbass: ??????

***1 hour and 59 minutes later, approx. 1 minute until window closes***

Random: get ready everyone, he'll be spawning any second now, as we're about 1 minute from his final half-hour mini-window. <call>

Dumbass: (wakes up), damn man, why does he have to spawn during the very end of his window? what a waste of time.

*Behemoth spawns claimed by JP HNM shell*

Random: oh well, D2 plz

Dumbass: WTF

Random: we'll be camping fafnir tomorrow, window opens at X time.

Dumbass: ***** that!
---------
Reality Train: As you can see, HNM camping is very rewarding. Bot-monopolizers, super low drop rates, lots of time wasted, and MPKs based on idiotic LS politics await you in the super-hyped end-game! Can you hardly stand the anticipation? Oh, and let's be honest here, if you're levelling WAR, DRG, DRK, or some other useless melee job for the endgame, stop levelling now, and go level something useful. Sorry, but that's the brakes. This is the way the end-game was designed, by no fault of the players.

Reality Train: As you can tell, the culmination of your months and months of hard work and time wasted will be well worth it! Now that you have seen what the fruits of your labor will yield at 75, stop reading this, and go level grind for hours! This has been another dosage of reality provided by yours truly, the Reality Train!

Not gonna post names or names of LSs

But anyways this really happend and so far is my favorite

LS member couldnt get his leet gear from his 1337 shell. Leaves his 1337 shell, starts his own shell. After getting the required number of members to get what gear he wants and countless sky farming sessions to get the spawn items. The new LS LEADER that left the 1337 shell earlier now gets the item he wants to complete his uber gear.

2~3 weeks go by. LS leader has now appointed sub leaders...no longer helps sky farm...Occassionally gives advice in certain situations...On dynamis nights enters late or not at all because they were leveling another job or just didnt care to show up on time or to show up at all...LS leader gets bored decides to take group to sky farm when the sub leaders scheduled something else that day...Nothing really gets accomplished this day but alot of arguing...

Not to anyone surprise LS splits...few members stay loyal to their 1337 LS leader but the majority of the members move to the new shell...the new shell is just as prosperous and the old shell ran by the 1337 leader is bickering and mad because they dont have the number of members to do some of the things they used to do. Some more members left the old shell to go join other shells...What else happend with the old shell I couldnt tell you I left when the shell split and went with the sub-leader that actually gave a damn about the shell.

I know some people will recognize who and what I'm talking about and I understand a flaming will happen...but do I care...nope cuz as you can see I posted this...have fun again this really happend...

Wow, a post that degenerated into flames and dead-horse beating almost instantly? What a surprise. CAN WE EVER HAVE AN ACTUAL CIVILIZED DISCUSSION ABOUT AN ACTUAL TOPIC ON THIS BOARD?

Ahem.

Anyway. Without accusing the OP of having poor english skills or being *****, or stupid, or a noob, just because I disagree with him, I'd like to respond to the original post. I think there's a really serious dillema that SE has presented us with. They've given us tons of endgame content which you NEED high levels of organization and huge numbers of people to complete, but then again that stuff takes so much time that it eclipses the rest of the game. Except for particular people with rediculous amounts of spare time, I don't know anyone who manages to partake in an HNMLS but still level other jobs. The uber endgame goal of getting all your mega gear is in direct conflict with the uber endgame goal of getting every job to 75... I'm not really complaining about it, just musing, maybe daydreaming about what it would be like if I could both get my relic/god gear and work on leveling my next job at a decent pace ^.^

You know I don't so much mind the yelling or name calling as much as I mind the fact that the same thing is being said in a different way on almost every post.

You start with some one saying something like "Well if you don't like them don't join them" and then you get like 30 posts that all say "well if you don't like them, then don't join them." Just some more long and drawn out than the others.

Also I would just like to continue my campain against Mooooo as a troll. Mooooo you suck at trolling please for the sake of all our brains just stop. I swear i will have my family suer you for wrongfull death if I have an anyrism(sp?)caused by reading your posts.

Also was testing out me new siggy thing and did not want to just say BLARGH!
