Simple solution for gilselling problemFollow

This is a soluton for the gilseller problem:

Why not limit the amount of gil a player can send via the delivery system. This featur alone would severely hinder gilselling operations. It would force the gilselling to take place in trade in person. This means a player would have to not only buy the gil but setup meating times to meet with the representative from the gilselling company firsthand.

This cap on the amount sent via delivery would seem like a very minor inconvinience in order to put a huge limit to the amount of gil a company could sell. I think a 500k limit on sent gil is resonable. And I also propose a limit to the max gil sent in a week to other characters. I'm looking for ppl's opinions on this.

Also I think sending gil to and from mules should be completely exempt from the cap.

Seems reasonable, but IMO ppl that would buy/sell Gil would have no problems setting up a "meeting" in order to complete their transaction, therefore really only inconviencing the quote unquote "Little Guy" i was thinking more along the lines of a claim timer... set an internal clock similar to the empress band where if you claim and kill a NM you must wait a specified amount of time before being able to claim said monster again(for example you claim and kill Vulkrum emperor can't claim again for 72 hrs)i don't know for sure the time restraints but i agree SE does need to help "Fix" the profesional NM campers making my imenient "retirement" look better and better thats just mt 2 cents

I like the idea of a kill-timer for NMs. Also I think to help even the scales, why not have a "message board" in every major city citing the death of all NMs by region. This can be worked into a storyline or into the world if it was some kind of NM-Hunting organization. Yaknow, like V.E.R.M.I.N. or the Tenshodo. This could be a group of NPCs whose backstory relates to them wanting to hunt down rare monsters. Maybe they'll even give you rewards or special NM-hunting gear if you kill certain ones or accumulate enough points? Crickey!

But this would level the playing field and make T.O.D.s (and maybe who or which party killed them) open to all who sought to kill a notorious monster. An in-game board might even be popular if you got to see your name on it (like with clear times in battlefields) and may hinder constant-campers because everyone will see their name hogging the mob.

Good try but won't work.
Do you know how much gil a HNM Ls can make?
Some people could get 1Mil+ sent to them as payout for they're work.
Now some HNM Ls's "save" gil to send out for a later time.
So one person would hold a HNM Gil mule.
And at a later time send out greater chunks of gil.

Some ppl legitimatly camp NM's all the time for periods of time to help fund a craft or new item. Claim timers are reasonable for most but still gilsellers have more then one char they play, alot work in teams so this would not be resonable and the best solution is to limit the selling alltogether.

1. This is a small sacrafice that would really not effect most players ever. Even keeping in mind a few HNMLS to legitimately send lots of gil, this is a VERY small percentage of the population. And How hard is it to just trade the gil in person to someone you see all the time in your LS. remember small sacrifice to solve a huge problem.

2. This is effective for example: Think of how much more work it would be to buy gil. Player A buys XXX gil, now has to set up a meeting where 2 party's need to be at the same place at the same time. Say player A can't log on at the agreed time. Now he has to get back in contact with the company to get his gil. These meetings also make gil selling/buying more of a 1 on 1 occasion, as it would only occure face to face.

3. I"m not looking for ways to prevent camping or way out ideas of how to end the AH but more along the lines of a simple solution that SE could easily implement to help solve the overall problems of gilselling.

An even simpler solution: Shoot the owner and admins of IGE in the head with a large caliber handgun.

problem solved! sure there are other gilselling websites, but none as active as IGE, IMO.

one can dream, eh?

I actually really like Phyree's idea. I wouldn't post it in that thread from the SE rep though, main boards would eat your karma for that.

The layout could be similar to the Auction House (using the existing menu construct) and you can see who killed what when, and maybe the last several kills prior to that.

This could even initiate a monster-hunting/catching type quest like the popular one in FFX. Maybe the more mobs you catch for the NPCs, the more gil you get. Actually it kinda sounds like a new guild, doesn't it? The Beastguild? Located out of Jeuno? /shrug

With your guildpoints (or equivalent), you could purchase items that would give you maybe a slightly heightened chance to have a lotto spawn pop in a certain area or give you special properties toward reptilian NMs or avian ones, etc. Or maybe an item that enhances widescan or given a non-widescan class the ability to have it for a limited amount of time.

Of course, that is taking the idea really far from the base of "I just want to see a list of T.O.D.s and who killed what where." =)

I just wanted to let you know that I liked it, even though some dillhole decided to rate you down for it without explaining why.

Would be cool for the bigger HNM's to have which LS killed it last, rather than the last person. Kind of an LS bragging rights thing.

I still think it'd be cool to have an LS Guild Hall, like Guild Wars, where LS members can all go and hang out without anyone else coming in. Like a big mog house, but in order to enter it you have to have your Linkpearl equipped.

Edit: Adding on to the guild hall idea and combining with your NM hunting idea, wouldn't it be cool if the LS could mount the heads of the NM's they've killed? Picture King Behemoth's head above the fireplace in the guild hall. That would be frikkin' sweet Smiley: grin

After killing the NM a Rare/EX item would drop that you could have crafted into a piece of furnature that you would be able to put in the LS Guild Hall only. Sack holders and the shell holder would be able to change the layout of the guild hall and place these items.

Yeah, my MH has some stuff in it but I already know about my personal achievements. If there was a common area where a LS could meet and share their decorations and such would be nice. But the problem would be in scamming LS members or if the pearls were to break, then everything would be lost.

Sure, it creates a more tangible anchor to keep people in a shell and subsequently the game, but you'd need some kind of system where all is not lost if something happens to the management. But I will say that this LS Hall could have an online "bank" of sorts...maybe so if members want to see what's in it themselves or just save the cost of having a bank mule (which can up and vanish under circumstances shady or legit).

I also like the trophy idea, though after killin Kirin so many times what would you do with "Kirin's Claws" or "Roc's Beak" yaknow? Hahaha, I just imagined being able to put together little parts from every or selected NMs to create the UNM (Ultimate Notorious Monster). You turn in your completed trophy collection to the Monster Guild and they bring it to life as some kind of chimera or Frankenstein's monster. You fight the UNM to get some kind of great reward. ^^b

Maybe from all the NMs you can beat from 10-20 you get UNM20 and are capped for that fight. Or all the dragons would give you the DNM at whatever cap those are. It'd be kinda like a BCNM only a...uhhhh...NMNM. XD; Hahahaha!

It is a bit off-topic, but it would be nice to have synth-macros (or do they exist and I'm just a derp?) too or be able to link one macro to another...chained macros I guess you could call them.

Ahem, but yes, how about those Notorious Monsters? =D

Half the work in killing an HNM is getting the time, I would be pissed as **** if SE made it to where others could benefit from my hard work.

I have a idea~ why dont SE each month sweep the prices from the AH and have people take they're item's off.

Then after all prices are gone Have SE put 1 of each item back up for they're own price do this each month so that it stay's equal to what they put or what we sell that would kill most the gil seller's off.

SE already stated they will NOT interfere with AH transactions.
It's players that decide how much they ask or pay for an item.

Not to start a flame war, but gilsellers are the reason Bismarck has such a stable economy, with the low prices we have.

Other servers have Scorpion Harness for 11+ million gil, where our Scorpion Harness+1 is only 15 million.

Other servers have Strider Boots for 20-40 million, and our gilsellers set the price at 10-13 million.

Really, you have nothing to ***** about; yes, people will cheat, but the economy won't go to **** because of that. Someone is making the gil, and it's just changing hands for real life money.

The fact that gilsellers undercut most everything seems to escape a lot of you.

(I sense rate-downs coming; bring 'em on.)

I see no difference between gill sellers and most HNM ls. Why is a HNM ls that spends all day every day trying to make gill better then a gill seller doing it? Most gill sellers are nicer people then the average player.

What SE really needs to learn is that some people have a job, life, etc. People don't have time to spend 4-5 hours standing around waiting for a nm to pop. Even spending 2 hours sucks. Then on top of that, the nm rarely drops the wanted item. FFXI is dying and the main reason is it is just to time consuming for people that want a real life. I still get mad everytime I have to wait on the airship.

lmfao! oh man this is funny. Solutions to gilsellers are all personal choices.

1: don't buy gil.
2: if you buy gil don't whine about the effects of a gil=cash economy.
3: quit whining!
4: see #3
5: give up on SE ever implimenting a workable solution and go get a job earning cash money with which you can buy real items or lots of gil.

... I forgot the question. But I'm mad at squenix at the moment anyway. they keep delaying all the square side ps2 realeases and they can't get the crew in place for a ff7 remake ;_; .

Okay I know I am asking for rate downs here, but actually this is kind of true. Now here's the part that people will hate me for... I actually had a couple of well known gil sellers on my friends list, their English wasn't the greatest, but they actually helped me do a lot of things. If you need an example if anyone saw me do my DRK AF they saw me toting around with a few Red(you all know the word that goes here)s. I know it seems bad and all, but they were nice enough to me as a person and I kind of forgot that they were gil sellers.

Some of you knew me in game, and I never actually spent my own money to buy gil, but I did have someone send me 1 million gil for my birthday and it didn’t come from their character so it isn’t rocket science to figure out how that ended up in my hands.

Now that this is horribly off topic, it just kind of bugs me that people go and bad mouth gil sellers when in my experience they have been much nicer to me then normal people/HNMLS campers.


And now for my economics trip, SE kind of started this game and AH on the whole good will system. They neglected to remember that people always look for the easiest way to do something, and that usually involves lying/cheating/stealing. People are greedy, that is just our nature. Some people don’t believe this, but in my honest opinion because we are so greedy we are the highest on the food chain.

I think perspective also needs to be kept here on item-aquisition. You don't NEED a haubergon (sp? forgive me, I'm a whm) or a byrnie to play the game (PvP aside if even that is something you feel you absolutely must do). You don't NEED tathlums or scorp harnesses or noble's tunics to be an effective player. Sure, if you want to min/max your character then the items are available to use, but yes they come at a high price and with good reason! You <(X.x<)O=('v'Q) AH

This is my largest eye-roller when it comes to games like these. I see many people grinding out their time, effort, and patience only to lose focus on what makes this game great and instead focus on getting the +1 STR extra from the few hundred thousand more it costs until you level up and do it all again! To each their own but come on! O_O

The game gives you or makes available a lot of what you "need" at little monetary cost to you. RSE is powerful stuff as is AF gear. "Normal" armor won't lose the day when you are trying to get some level's up on your character either. Maybe I just don't understand the "plight of the fighting class" here because I'm a simple white mage, but when I see a ranger - a class MADE for ranged combat - wear gear that gives him/her something like +60 to ranged attack I can only think "why?" Why do you need that much ranged attack on a class that is made to naturally shoot things already? Is it worth it...all the millions and millions of gil? ~_~,

As a white mage, I'm sure I can do a lot more to improve my MND and MP, but the cost is so prohibitive for the benefits that it just seems dumb to pay a hypothetical extra 100k just to eke out one more MND point or 5 mp. I already get the job done with what I have, yaknow? And what I have (if you check my equipment I posted for my character here) isn't exactly top-dollar stuff...but I guaran-dern-tee you that you will never PT with a better white mage. =D

How can I possibly say that, especially when I don't own a Vermy or Noble's Tunic? >_O

If any of you know me, you'll know that I'm social. I make fun comments in parties. I keep my patience when things go wrong and say dumb things like {config}ulations! or {Connection Lost}ulations! when party members level up. I randomly cure people in Jeuno and am otherwise a helpful individual. The marketers at Squeenix weren't just being touchy-feely when they put "Community"(^11) on the posters and stuff advertising the game. (>'-')> !Play Our Game! <('-'<)

One reason why Star Wars Galaxies has lost so much is because Sony changed the system to be more party-based and a lot of solo people became upset at that. That is also one reason for the immigration of people to WoW, that you can nearly solo or not have to rely on others as much. "God drops" to them can come from normal monsters. But one friend of mine who picked up WoW said that she got to level 60 too easily and that the game itself is a piece of cake. You get XP for walking around for Pete's sake. =O

I kinda got derailed there, I'm sorry. This piece isn't directed at any one person, but I hope it helps lifts your all's spirits and renews your vigor. Not just because I'm a white mage, but because of who I am as a player, I want to support my community of fellow players in game and out. With their buffable stats and their feelings. (b'-')b

To me, that's what the game is about...not min/maxing equipment. Thank you. =)

This is coming from a BLM, mind you, so I might get some of these points wrong.

The reason a RNG needs +60 ranged attack? You said it yourself. They're MADE to shoot things. If they can do so better, it's worth it.

Sure, maybe paying one million gil for one point of INT is bad. But not paying, say, 200k for a Black Cloak doesn't really make sense. Or not paying for an Ice Staff or an Elemental Torque. This stuff makes me SO much better that it doesn't make sense to go without it. I mean, an ele torque is like giving me 1.2 levels of BLM.

And you're talking like there's something better to spend gil on, the whole point of farming and making cash is to get crap like that. Not like gil can buy you anything real that matters.

Gear and food does matter. I've been in many pty with melees that rarely hit becuase of there gear and refusing to eat sushi.
I admit I won't eat sushi if the pty is really slow. But then a lot of +1 gear is a waste, like my Arhat stuff for ninja. The normal stuff will be 5K. The +1 stuff like 1.5 mil, and the +1 stuff will just have 1 more enm and 1 more evasion. The +1 stuff is nothing more then status gear. The same is truth with earrings. Dodge earring +3 evasion are 40K, the +5 evasion ones are like 2 mil. I already have like +29 evasion plus I have 226 evasion skill from my job/level. The extra 2 evasion isn't going to make much if any difference.

About gill sellers being nicer, I've had "normal" whms walk over my dead body then had a gill seller raise me. I had a gill seller give me a 10K item for who knows what reason. I've seen gill sellers risk dying to take a mob with AOE away for exp ptys before fighting it.

Once a gill seller died saving my pty, and then my pty said don't raise her she is a gill seller. I left that pty the sec that was said.

Disclaimer: I haven't played in months so some of my figures for damage are completely wrong or at the very least innaccruate.

I find it all very entertaining to see the gil grind and mongering of all kinds that takes place. Honestly while I was playing I kinda just rationalized everything I camped/acquired/purchased etc. For instance The Byrnie/Haubergeon, this is truely funny because the first time I was playing through my sam I rationalized that the +10 acc was avbsolutely essential. Of course when I sold all my sam gear and tried whm again before remembering how much I absolutely hated the job after becoming undoubtedly the most frequently killed elvaan whm ever, I couldn't afford my fancy haub anymore. So I went the way of the pumpkin... orange I mean ie the byrnie. Of course I had some rationalization behind that as well.. "Oh man! Str is the sam's best friend! and I'll cure my acc defficiency with the rng sub! huzzah!" ...

you know, I really forgot what I was talking about, all I know is that I hit things alot more often with the rng sub than with any other sub job.

What is the point here you may be asking yourself... well that's very simple, the point is, I'm going to be in serious trouble if IT finds out I've been surfing the web from my office... but wait, I AM IT!! LOL!!!

oh man that's great.

Everyone will buy and play as they wish to, let the numbers speak for themselves. If you prefer to pt with super effective killing machines, you might as well write some bots. The most entertaining parties I ever had were the craziest, lvling my monk naked ... etc etc.
