how many of the original first wave are still playing, or the beta guys?

what mistakes did you make in that first few days of the new game 2 years ago?

ill lead with an example:

my first day i was trying to chat with a NPC cause i thought he was a player... i chased that guard in ronfure back and fourth asking him why he was stuck up..

I got the game the moment it came out. Problem was, my high school dorm blocked internet gaming. For almost two years I was only able to play in the weeks of summer, as I usually had no computer when I returned home during fall, winter, and spring breaks. My first real playing experience was months after the release. Now that I'm in college, I guess no one cares if I work or not!

It's been wierd. People I partied with in one run are now end game players who have long forgotten that quirky RDM. For example, when I logged in that first summer, I met a Mithra named Naruka (sp? can't log on to check). She was a WHM in the dunes while I was a RDM. We had a lot of fun, even joined eachothers friends list. I went back to school, came back to the game a few months later, saw her by the Jeuno HP in full AF (I didn't say anything because I doubt she remembered me). Sad part was, I was still leveling in Khazam!

I suppose I have a nice photo album of experienced players back when they were newbies. Who knows? Maybe I can produce some Bismark rookie cards?

I've been around since November 2003. I just missed Halloween that year. I'm still kickin' !

Half hour running around town, before I figured out a way outside. First enemy I engaged, kicked my butt, and I had no idea that when you disengage, mobs still follow you. So yeah, I died, and HP'd having no clue where I just went to find a way out.

Wow, life before I knew what a macro was... yeah this was my first MMO. looking back, I would NEVER have started this game as a subless Red Mage. "I'm gonna be a Red Mage/Thief! It's going to be so cool!" /grin

SH: Teleport: Holla 500gil!
Me: Holla??? (somebody please holla back so this guy will shut up!) Man these players are ghetto!

Kestra was intimidated by the Auction House. (I got over that.)

"I wonder what those colored dots mean."

Not quite NA release, but Feb 04. I'm still here, just not as much as I used to.

I got to lvl 20 before I even touched the AH.

My first character was on Titan, and I ran her (lv 2 elf rdm) to Jeuno, somehow. I then set HP and realized I couldn't get back to where I could fight anything. I *did* grab the Holla crystal, so some nice taru ported me and I proceeded to run to Jugner and get killed by a tiger.

I originally logged on during the NA release, switched servers once, quit for 3-4 months, then came back for good as Drowsorez.

I remember first finding out about the Auction house when i was about level 15 or so...I was throwing away my fire crystals because the NPC would only give me a lousy 7 gil for them. Boy did it take a long time to save up for that Bronze armor(also bought from an NPC :( ).

Oh, and did anyone else really have a good time when they found out what "/em" does? I think i was playing with that command alone for at least a half hour.

I played Import started over in Beta and yet still started over again in NA release day 1.

Boy oh Boy! Good Times...lol
I began the relese date for the ps2( na). me and all my socom 2 clan decided to get the HDD and decided to try the game FFXI (lol and i said, "man what a gay game" and i don't mean gay offensive...) now im still just lvl 51 >.< but I'm ADHD when it comes to lvl'n. lol the /em was pimp and macros? lol not till lvl 25ish, and i am rdm :O the funniest part was savin up for a LS and when i very 1st got on I couldnt find any of my friends...BUT we were standing in the exact same place (on phone w/ them) "OMG there are different worlds???"

I started NA release on Odin. :/
I've only Been on Bismarck for a few months.

Here are some of the mistakes I've made

1. When the Intro cut scene npc asked me a question. I typed the answer. :/.

2. I used around three scrolls of warp in a row before i figured out what it did.

3. I thought running around the mob in a circle increased evasion.

4. Had an under leveled sub until level 30

5. I sold crystals to NPCs

6. I had macros in /say instead of /party

7. Took me 2 hours to figure out how to open a door.

I've been playing two years, but I can't say what the time frame is in relevance to the NA PC release. ; ; When I saw it in the game store, I bought it, but I didn't go by the store but once a month or so.
I started playing after a gamer at the resturaunt I was waiting tables at bought it, and brought the manual in to work. It probably wasn't too long after NA PC release, since he was one of those hardcore guys that probably knew when it came out. ;)

Either way, two years here, and I plan on playing for a while yet ;)

Got the game on NA PC launch day.

I think I tossed beastseals because I couldn't sell them and they were taking up space. <.<

I've been playing since spring of last year, so that makes me about one and a half. I'm anxiously looking toward my terrible twos!

I started out in Sandy and I tell you what...every time I am back in my home town I remember the day when I was an onion rod-weidling white mage. My chest swells with noble pride at the bagpipes and Ronfaure's music soothes my soul.

I was the last of my irl group of friends because I thought this game wouldn't be worth the monthly fee...now I am the only one of them left playing...

If it wasn't for the friendships I have made here on Bismarck, it it wasn't for the helpful players and patient mentors then I would not be here nor the Phyree that some (most?) of you know me to be.

Thank you everyone for an amazing year and a half, and here's to a longer time to come. m(_ _)m

*cheer @ Bal* Christmas 2 year! ^)^

It's funny, just last week I was trying to search for a group, and I couldn't get any results. Someone kindly pointed out that you needed to put a dash between the level ranges... Of course this person knows I've been playing lamost two years so they kindly took a screenshot for my embaressment XD

My mistakes early on were too many to count though :p
