Good afternoon friends!!!

I am a long time PS2 player of FFxi and I've converted and started playing on PC now. I was wondering if any of you out their would be so kind as to let me know what controller you use that is compatible with FFxi. I'm looking to get a nice controller comparable to the PS2 controller that i'm familiar with, as this whole mouse control is kind of a pain some times

Thanks a lot

I played via keyboard for over a year and was hooked on a controller after trying it for just one day.

Square reccomend the "Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2"

I just use a cheap "no name" brand usb controller and have no problems with it.

Just get this

...and make sure you download the current driver from the website...

...driver is here

I use this and it's great, just make sure to configure it in FFXI Config before you start the game. Controller won't work while in POL but once FFXI is started you can navigate the menus with it as well. Plus you don't have to buy a new controller
Smiley: yippee

Edit:

Wanted to add that the rumble feature of your PS2 controller will work with this adapter. You need to make sure it's enabled when you're configuring the controller, then you can test it to make sure.

thank you all so much for all the suggestions you gave me they were all very helpful.

I got the accessory from radioshack and was wondering if you could let me know how to access the ffxi controller configuration area that you were talking about. The only config. thing i know of is in the FFxi game but it doesn't give any options for controller config that i saw. I tried looking through the playonline folder in my program files on my hard drive and couldn't find anything Reguarding controller set up as well. any help would be appreciated. thx.

Thank you in advance for your help

No need to buy a controller at all. Radio Shack sells PSX-USB converters. Just buy one of those - they're less than $20 IIRC and work fine.

Before you start POL, open windows "start - all programmes - playonline" - and there should be a congig shortcut somewhere in there.

I think on the first page of the config programme, there is a configure gamepad button.

Sorry, not the most detailed, but it will point you more or less in the correct direction.

Anyone else notice that every thread on our board has been rated down? Who's the 10 year old abusing the karma system?
