Community: How much of Vana'diel has already been uncovered? Can you give us any more information on the new expansion pack? Will it be in the "Far East"?

Yasu Kurosawa: We did announce that the expansion pack is coming, however the content we cannot discuss at this time. Usually we announce more info at large events like E3 or Tokyo Game Show. Of course the new expansion will be a new zone because things are always evolving in Vana'diel, so please watch for upcoming announcements.

I hate to strike a sour note, but I hope they make this new expansion a little more accessible than the last one.
After hundreds of gil and many hours spent, I STILL have only completed Promyvion - Dem. This makes my AF look like a grade school Thanksgiving play. I could have spent that $40 on roller skates and gotten more out of it.

That said, I look forward to the new expansion, and will probably get it, even though it technically just puts me farther behind :D

I completely agree with Sioux. Quite frankly i hate the promyvions, and while i'd love to get access to all the new areas i just don't see that happening with my promy luck.

I've had 4 times someone dc in the middle of the fight. I've had 3 times where we didn't make the fight. I'm like 1/1 Holla 0/8 mea 0/3 Dem. My war went from almost 38 to 36 doing these. I gave up, I work full time and don't have time for it.

I don't plan to get the next expansion pack. This one was a totally waste. I haven't even been to 90% of the new areas I can get too.

SE really needs to consider that some people don't have 12 hours a day to play a game.

COP Areas that do not require promivions: Bibiki Bay, Ulegerand Range, Molvapolos (Oldton+Newton), Carpenter's Landing, Attowha Chasm...

Theres probably a couple of others I'm not remembering.

How is Holla the only one you've beaten? Thats the hardest one.

Well, it's not really just the areas. I'd love to see Lufaise Meadows, etc, but the things I'm really annoyed about missing out on are the quests from the Tavnazian Safehold and the gear I can't get, like the Glamor Jupon, the subligar and so on.
Basically you miss out on $35 worth of the $40 expansion if you can't complete the Promys. You're missing out on the story, the items, and the greater part of the new areas. Somehow Carpenter's Landing just isn't much of a consolation prize. ._.

I haven't given up on Promyvions, but school's in again, and I don't have time to sit up until 5 AM farming anima, rounding up a party, replacing PT members, going back to Jeuno because we wiped and starting all over again.

This alone, missing out on so much of that expansion for no very good reason, was part of why I temp-quit a while ago. I can understand some of the outflow from the game; call me lazy or inept or whatever, but I think the Promyvions really were made a bit too hard, and a bit too specialized.

Certain jobs - BST and BRD and RDM come to mind, I'm sure there are more -- have almost nothing to add to Promyvions on their own. You *need* to have specific jobs levelled.
You can get through them easily with a party, provided that party has at least one of the 'necessary' jobs.
People will post and say 'it can be done with 6 WARs!' and I'm sure it can; hell, I've heard of RDMs meleeing Maat down, so I'm willing to believe anything. But speaking from the experience of almost never being able to find a RNG or SMN, doing it without these 'good' Promyvion jobs makes it a lot tougher.
Nothing is stopping me from levelling RNG or SMN, I know that; but why should it be that only specific jobs should be able to complete these with anything approaching expediency? It's not the end of the world, but it's pretty obnoxious when you have a useless 70 RDM, and an equally useless 11 SMN...the only reason for levelling which would be completing the Promys.

I did complete Dem, and Dem was the only one I did where we had a RNG.

I really like partying in Bibiki and Movalpolis has made me a small fortune and Lufaise Meadows looks pretty and all...but was it worth that $40? Not even close. $20? Yup that's about right. And I regret buying the expansion the day it was released. What really irked me is that it took them, what, almost a year to even give us the whole expansion...but that's another subject entirely....

About Promyvions...it's nice that you don't have to rely on high level help for once due to the level caps, but you shouldn't have to worry instead about finding that oh so perfect selection of players. Even if it is more lenient since they adjusted it, it's obvious that people are still having problems.

I am not even considering this new expansion until it's released and I read reviews and hear player feedback. I should've done that with CoP but I gave into the hype, but I won't this time. If we pay $40 we expect our $40 worth. Some of you may have gotten it, but what of the people who quit already? What of the people who just got so frustrated at the BEGINNING (Promyvion) that they just gave up? Or not even being able to complete it like Sioux here. That's a problem. It's not impossible to beat Promyvion, and a few restrictions are ok (like Sky for example) but wow, CoP really overdid it. It may make sense to do this to keep people playing longer, but they won't if they get so mad they quit. Lots of money in the short run, but not the long run.

I may regret not having access to the new items right away but oh well. I hope some people here will give us a few opinions upon the release.

Well... in S-E's defense they did try to make CoP more accessible to people by having lower level caps. However, to be able to complete the bc's throughout CoP really requires very specific party set-ups, as well as well-coordinated parties. Any old pick-up party cannot go into a CoP bc and expect to win hands-down. As such, to progress through the PMs is best done with a supportive Linkshell.

As far as the new areas uncovered by progressing through the CoP storyline... Al'Taieu is probably the best to look at. With the overcrowding in many of the upper level xp areas, an xp party in Ru'Hmet is quite refreshing and very rewarding. The rings received from finishing the PMs is simply godly, and the new obis, gorgets, torques, and weapons found from sea have a lot of people drooling.

Was CoP worth it? I think it's kinda like how RoZ was to the Japanese when it first came out, and even to us till we started getting high enough. It had some interesting things, though nothing of great interest... but when you finally got to the end it increased one's enjoyment of the game immensely.

I got holla done with the set pty I had at the time, and friends of theres. We all just followed what stinna said and both groups won. Sucks she quit. Stinna is how I got rank 10 too.

The level cap makes it harder. It means you have to go buy gear to do it, and it means it is hard to get people that have done it to do it. Unlike things like 2-3 that are level cap you need decent gear for it. Even bcnms you can go with second rate gear.

I agree on the difficulty of promyvions due to selective usefullness of jobs.

Ive only gone twice. I did Dem both times. im 1/1 and 0/1 for the Dem ENM. The first time went I was like **** it, ill take a good pt in there and just give it my all. Thinking that the situation was probably blown up out of proportion. I was wrong. I took a highly skilled pt and we were beaten badly. I mught add that it was some of the people attendings first attempt at it. But we didnt lose our cool and played it well and we lost.

The second time I went with the cookie cutter set up, which took forever to get going. Most of the SMN and RNG act as if they are hanging on a friggen cross if you ask them to come: Pssh ive already done that 10 tomes sorry". Now before RNG and SMNs serverwide cchase me down and beat me I will say that becauswe the events are skewed towards them im sure doing it over and over would get real old real fast.

All of the upper tier events in the game require a good pt. But these are the openers and there friggen three of them and yes you do have to have good gear to even play. Im having to lvl a job just to do Promyvion. And that is lame. But whatever ill get to it one day.

That being said, if the new exspansion has new subjobs ill buy it, and so will you. That will be the selling point for me. I could give two ***** about new content Ive been playing for a long time and ive not seen very much of the new content from either exspansion, so im just not going ot get my hopes up about new areas in this exspansion.

Thanks,

Gob

Souix, we'll catch you on our next Promy run. There's no reason why you should have to go through all that ^^

I still have yet to get ANY of the Promyvions done due to some stupid mistake SOMEBODY ALWAYS makes while trying to get to the boss. Wipeouts happen and people leave/give up. >.<

i saw that somebody posted about having a LS dedicated to doing the PM missions, and it really does help. my LS, Broken Dream, has managed to do all 3 promys in 1 night, both mission and ENM without wiping. we are currenly on PM 4-2. but it really does help to do it w/ your LS and not a random jeuno pick up pt
