Hi guys!

I've heard as of late, RDM's are particularly having problems with Maat... I know I was...

But as of this morning, I finally defeated the Ol' Geezer!!!
d(^.^)b

So to help out meh fellow Pimp/Pimptress hat-sportin' people, I thought I'd post my story. I posted these links in the Red Mage job forums, and I hope if anything, it can at least be an inspiration to you all...

    Anyway, luck plays a huge part for RDM Maat Fight. Sometimes traditional approaches work, sometimes ya gotta be different...

    I dont get this at all...
    I beat him first try, using 0 meds, 2 yag drinks, and ending with 250 mp, and only took 17 damage the whole time...
    One of the easiest/most dissapointing things I have ever done in this game...

    RDM Maat is 60% luck, 30% cool head, and 10% skill.
    All the prep and skill in the world isn't going to come out to anything if he gets Blink/Shell off before you get to the circle, if Sleep fails to stick, if he manages to interrupt an important spell.
    I fought Maat 3 times, using exactly the same strategy every time, and won the last time without a problem. First time was a disgrace; Shell IV on Maat, fail Sleep II, fail Sleep. {Good night!} {Come again.}

    You got lucky, Sirro, grats on it, but it doesn't make those RDMs that go through hell any less skilled. Luck is a *massive* factor in the RDM Maat, it's one of the reasons it's (arguably) the hardest in the game. Hell, the spell Maat decides to cast first may win or lose the fight for you.

    The primary reason why Maat is the hardest G5 is because RDM and WHM have Magic Defense Bonus. It's equivalent to a Shell III or IV, from my experience.

    A dispelled 160 exp Ruby Quadav resists spells similar to a Shell IV'd 200 exp Sapphire Quadav...(@ 68)

    Anyway, congrats. Maybe now I can camp Ruby without Thend complaining I'm too slow :)
