I was talking to several of my japanese friends some time ago.
For some reason the autotranslation subject came up.
anyway, they told me that one of the statement like, {Please Help Me Out!}, actually mean {Please Save My Life!} in japanese.
English /shout: "{Peacock Charm}{Sell?}{Please Help Me Out}
Japanese /percieve: "{Peacock Charm}{Sell?}{"Please Save My Life!"}
lmao, i found it rather funny.

Someone told me that {Reward} is something close to {Feed the Dog}. I have no idea if this is true, but they seemed reputable.

Someone once told me that {hill} is close to wb.
Most Japanese players use "wb" and can recognize it, so we can avoid trying {hill} to see the response. ^^
I've known about {Reward} for a long time and still laugh when I see it used for requests in Jeuno.
Or when someone uses {back} when they come back from being away...works with english players, but in the translate function it stands for the equip slot.
I would love to see a website dedicated to showing direct translations for both English and Japanese commands. That way WE can know what we're really saying, and vice-versa (although I rarely see Japanese players make long-winded statements in translators)

i also find it interesting that there's no auto-trans for "you're welcome"; and that this has been overcome by both cultures thru the use of 'np', which means 'no problem' in english netspeek, but has become the common response to {Thank You} in both cases.
also interesting is the development of 'k' as an affirmative, since i often see the JP hiragana keyset "Oh" followed by an english k. i assume that the english 'k' or 'kk' developed by itself, but seeing it in phonetic Nippon-glish makes me laugh a little.
and i still laugh a little at NAs who don't understand 'Orz' yet.
all in all, i think the auto-trans and its role in the development of a game-specific pidgeon language is one of the coolest features of this game, even if it leads to terrible misunderstandings sometimes. ^^w

I agree; no concept-centered word in Japanese will have an exact English translation. Reward, as it applies to a BST refueling his pet, is a different thing than literal dog food.
The difference is negligible though, and 'dog food' translates the same as far as humor, which is where I was going with it. Conceptually, that's how it comes across when shouted in Jeuno.

how idiotic is that... ; ; And here I was, thinking "finally, they added please, so people can quit using 'please listen'" -_-
As to take care.. I recently found out about it when a japanese player was saying "{take care} {fish}" in terrigan about pugils ^^; I've used "see you again" since, but... meh. I don't necessarily want to see those people again ! ;)

The only problem with using that is then any JP players assume you know Romanji
I asked a JP player who spoke decent english to tell me how to say "I only know certain Romanji phrases" but I lost the paper I wrote it down on now

It's actually in lower case, orz. I didn't know what it was either, and Athamar explained to me that it's a man kneeling down. The o is the head, the r is the arm, shoulder, and back. The z is the rest of the back and the legs, bent at the knees.

As far as "OK" goes, it is supposedly the only word that is universal. It is used in every language. But yeah the "k" from english is probably because we americans are lazy =)
