Sup ladies and gents, well I guess my opening words say it all $&%! the karma system. Stop caring about what other people ******* think, these message boards are all $#%^#@ up becaused of the karma system, I know im going to get rated down for posting this but this **** has been on my mind since I first joined the message boards.

Later bismark.

I tend to just ignore the karma rating. You don't have to look at it, you choose to, if it bothers you that much... well I don't know what to tell you.

I'm sure there's many others like myself who just don't even look at it. I don't ever rate anyone up or down... it doesn't matter what I think about someone's post.

Basically what i'm saying is... I don't agree or disagree with you, I don't care about the karma system at all...

what you seem to miss is that there is a difference in WHY the karma system is in place, and HOW it is used.

WHY: To get posts that are offensive/off topic/spam off the front page of most viewers using the default filter.

HOW: people get rated up or down based more on who they are as opposed to the content of their post.

A karma system can work very well, just look at a site like slashdot. The problem here is that everyone scholar and above can rate up or down as many times as they want. Limiting the number of rates per day would definatley help the situation.

Nice idea Tse, that would help the abusers. I rarely rate anymore however. Usually a rate up if I find myself agreeing with someone or to get some sock to sub-default. Other than that it's kinda a pain to do so I usually just leave it alone.

Hmm... maybe that's a good reason to rate posts. But then... posts like what I typed above can be funny if you don't take them seriously.

Yeh, no ****. It doesn't really bother me too much that my karma rating is a 2.0 i think, because all i did was speak my mind. I just think it's stupid people just can't be nice and appreciate that fact, instead of rating anyone down for not posting an upbeat ******** page, ya know? All i did was like take a random survey once in a forum about "Is it wrong to steal from gilsellers".... and BAM!!!! karma gone. /em sighs
