Why do you continue to play this game?
I waited almost a year after the NA release before I bought it, knowing that it would take time and money to keep playing. Being the FF nut that I am, I knew it would get me soon enough, and it did.
I have been enjoying the game….questing, doing missions, playing with the other jobs and yes, even XP’ing even though I really hate it. But, it’s a means to an end…
I come on this board though, and besides the pleasant exchanges and postings for help with missions and the like (I still don’t have my Promy’s done…/cry) and the wealth of information you can find…..I see a lot of pissing and moaning.
NM’s are over camped.
Gillsellers, gillbuyers, gillfarmers…ad nauseum
Sky is ruined
Hyper competitive HNMLS’
Granted, I have met some really cool peeps in the game, and some real retards at the same time.
But really…what waits for me at 75? It sounds like the game get LESS enjoyable at that level.

To be honest a lot more of the game opens up 70+
you got Dynamis, a hella lotta people LFG always so you can put together a ****** group just to have some fun while your XPing. Groups don't have to be cookie cutter for Merit XP (in my opinion though, I am close to 75).
Sky is fun for the first week, but it loses its appeal very fast.
Progession to SEA is the next big thing, there is NO competition for mobs, NMs or anything as of yet. People are just starting to explore this area, its a whole new horizon and its amazing and has a lot of potential.
I can list more stuff but I am very satisfied with this game, same with my friends.
I can't wait to take another job up the the levels and play it all over again.

There is the fact that I am writing a fanfiction ************* (I Love You)[/i]) that I do a lot of in-game research for, but as I am starting to wind down the story, I am finding that I have to go in game less and less for ideas now.
I love the people of Vana'diel, and those that I enjoy knowing the most/closest to I keep on my phone/IM/e-mail so even if FFXI was to die tomorrow, I wouldn't lose them.
What keeps me playing is the PMs. I have to reach the end...and find out if there truly are chains that bind us...

Mostly because my gf plays, but there are ohter reasons as well. There still is quite a few things to do in the game. Still have to get sea, still have jobs i'd like to level, items i'd love to get and nm/hnm I want to beat ^^
Besides, still have good friends in the game, can't ditch them just like that XD

I strive to be the next Kaji/Deity. Incredible gear in any job I play, with max crafting skills.
Oh, friends and exploration are up there too. Sometimes I take a bunch of crating materials and just got out to some random zone, find a nice view and craft. That's how I've made all of my signed staves, and most of the signed instruments I've made for friends.
