I made a terrible mistake,Follow

This thread is an apology to a party I had today in Bibiki Bay. Because of my mistake, four of our members died.

I know there are plenty of people out there who probably dont care about what happened since they were not affected in any way. I am only posting this thread because I feel that my party deserves an apology from me.

To Zeruthal, Margos, Jedimindtricks, and Sibent, I just want to say I am sorry for having failed at doing my job.

A bomb in Bibiki Bay had aggrod us while we were fighting Dhalmels, and I was supposed to be on Stun duty in case it self destructed. Right after we had pulled off a Light SC, I began to burst Fire III, and the moment I started, the bomb readied self-destruct...

Only I and the WHM survived, but I still felt terrible. It was my job to make sure that I stunned it, but I failed at my job. This was the second bomb I have failed to stun ever in my time of playing the game, partly because I usually try to avoid them as much as possible.

Anyways, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for having screwed up ._.
I should have just waited for the self-destruct and done my job, but I made a poor decision that cost these people time and exp, and for that I apologize >_<.

(Please forgive me.)

lol dude if I had to apologize for every bomb that self destroyed or doll that did Meltdown or w/e mob casting spell you'd need a whole forum just for that :p

You only have the one stun every 45 secs (right?) so it's either do absolutely nothing and be on permanent stun watch and feel useless.... or toss up barfira and pray for some luck :p

Also you coulda Elemental Seal Sleep, or Bind, then move further away form it :D

Anyway you worry too much ehehehe.

Nothing you could have done. Just bad luck that you started to cast the second it began to self destruct. Even if you tried to cancel the casting, there's still that wait time between actions and this would prevent you from casting in time.

Shoot, one day I was pulling, and was in first person view for SATA in Garliage, and didn't realize the bat was on the other side of the trench. Next thing I knew BAM I was yelling zone and telling everyone to run.

So, we all make mistakes.

I'm a BLM too, so I know it makes you feel guilty if you miss a Stun on a Mob.
But dude if your in the middle of a cast there is NOTHING you can do, its not your fault and if the people who died think it is they have a problem.

Believe me Chibi, I know how it is to be in the middle of a cast when something else happens that needs immediate attention. That wasn't your fault honey, it happens, the mobs...JUST...KNOW.

I was about to give an example from the BCNM 60s we ran last night until I realized that metakaiser = chibikaiser and you were there.

Anyway, it's the same thing. We had two people who could stun, three that could silence, yadda yadda yadda. Every single one of us had either just been silenced or were casting something else when silence suddenly wears and he decides to drop some heavy-duty magic on the tank. Personally, I think it was revenge for me taunting him for manafonting while he was silenced.

Sometimes the timing is just bad, so what's your option? Miss every MB in order to be sure you never have to silence/stun/whatever in the middle of a chain? I can't tell you how many dispels I've missed because I've started casting a MB right before the crab gets smart and puts up shell.

You play the odds. Usually they work out for you. Sometimes they don't. No one should get upset with you either way - I don't know a single player who has never had something like that happen at some point.

Chibi, **** happens. Like last night wasn't anyone's fault at all, this shouldn't be something you blame yourself for.

Chibi!

I agree with the previous posters.

Its good gesture for you to apologize for something that went wrong, but theres some things you can't have control over in the game. Mobs can and are unpredictable, and bombs are no exception. If the game was predictable, it'd be no fun, and great BLM's such as yourself won't have a chance to show your uber l33t skillz.

Don't feel bad. :(

If you were waiting for the Bomb to use its WS, you would have stunned it, maybe. But if it hasn't used it, you would have "failed" the MB, and would have been "useless" for 1 fight :x ...

Anyway, you say it's the 2nd time you failed stunning a mob. Meh, you can be proud it's only your 2nd time ! That means you've done a great job.

And remember, everyone in the game makes mistakes. Nobody has "perfect" skills. You don't have to worry about this ! You apologized, even explained the fact here. Continue your greataru job ;)

/em gives a big hug to Chibikaiser

Goddamnit Chibi.

Shit happens meng. No need to get all down in the dumps. You're very good at what you do, so STFU.

And yes, I'll agree with Vimes. I think that Antican had enough of us laughing at him for blowing Manafront every....single....friggin time.

That sure was one hell of a flood, let me tell you. >.>

Thanks for the input everyone ^^;

When I think about it, I guess I was just really dissapointed in myself because I was the only person who could stun, and therefore, all the pressure was riding on me ><.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone keeps having fun playing, and I will too.

P.S. I got hit with a goblin bomb toss yesterday and was one-shotted from 720 HP to 0 XD. I guess everything was evened out in the end hehe >_>...

Thank God this is just a game. I can see how if you were in Vietnam and your were on stun duty and you fail to save your friend from the Vietnamese bomb core. How it could eat a man up inside and possibly scar you emotionally.

But since this is just a game, poof you magic swiped away to a home-point or you can lay around in the sun and wait for a raise. You said the WHM lived. All is well if the WHM lives.

First, I think it's actually really nice that you've done an apology thread just for this. But as a BLM myself, I find it hard to feel too sorry in those situations.

If you asked the party beforehand whether they'd rather have you Burst Fire III or whatever it was for lots of damamage or do nothing and have your finger on the stun macro, they'd probably choose the first.

I really think what the game could use is a better way to stun. I see two things that need to be changed to do this.
1) There should be a faster way to interrupt your own spells than running around and waiting until then end of the spell timer. (This could apply to lots of other stuff as well --> if you're casting escape and accidentally move you shouldn't waste like 8 seconds for the timer to get to the end and say "interrupted".
2) For stun to really be effective it's hard to imagine that mob abliities shouldn't take longer to prepare. Maybe there are people who can do it, but even if I'm not nuking at all and just waiting for Sickle Slash or something to be used, I still usually miss the ability. It'll be like:
Whatever Spider Starts Using Sickle Slash
Qwix Starts casting Stun
Spider uses Sickle Slash
Paladin takes 600 points of damage
Qwix casts Stun.
The Spider is Stunned.

Again, I may just not be the best with it, but it seems to me to be a little too tough.

poor guy, I just wanted to come on and say what a non-issue this was. Not only was it not his fault because he was in the middle of an MB, but we all got raise 2. im honestly shocked he would even come on to apologize, because we had already said it was np in the pt. keep your head up man nothing you can do if youre already in the middle of casting something.

It's situational, depending on how long the spell takes the cast, but taking a knee to med will automatically interrupt your casting.

Some things are just bad luck and can't be helped, tho I admit it doesn't take away the fact you feel like could have done something better... being a pld I know I feel like I could have done something different when I loose hate, even when its a rng that does Slug Shot for 700 dmg right after I pull the mob off the puller... :P in the end it makes you a better player cause then you start trying harder ^^

nothing he could do, he was mbing. even if he took a knee and then stunned, it would have been too late. it wasnt a mistake just bad timing by the mob.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that would've helped there. Mostly it helps to cancel escape quickly.
