ok, our set up was:
whm/blm : Immortalsoul(pt leader)
rdm/blm : Lewyo
smn/whm : Alya
rng/nin : Lelia
drk/war : Braje
DRG/war : me
we were camping in gustav fighting mostly crabs w/ the occasional goblin.
now as you can tell, this is NOT a PT built for mad fast exp chains. we were all bored of lfg so we built this PT to see how it would work. other than the occasional bad pull by the ranger, we had a great time with very few deaths. the only deaths we had were caused by the ranger getting aggro on the way back to camp. i was the main tank, with Braje backing me up as a secondary voke.
the only reason i'm posting this is to show that non-cookie cutter PTs really do work, even if they aren't always fast at getting exp.
btw, we were all around lvl 57 at the time of this PT. anybody else ever been in a party this wierd before?

i had one once in CN where i was the main healer and all the others were melee, they figured out a transfixion sc so i could burst banish for like 60pts but it worked really well on crawlers, unfortunately, not so well on flies ><
How about 2 WAR/NIN, THF, SMN, BLM, RDM getting chain 4 for 240 every chain. and getting 3 lvls in 3 hrs.
How about WAR/NIN RNG RNG RNG RDM WHM at level 60+ getting chain 6+? Not a standard party by any means, but one of the best set ups for an arrowburn.
As I progress in te 60s, I find myself as a RNG getting more and more options for non-conventional parties. In fact, I go so far as to put "RNG PT ONLY" in my search message, indicating that I only want arrowburn parties. The only normal party invites I accept anymore are ones from friends who need another DD.

I was in an all Galka party once in Kazham. The setup was (I may be a bit off since it was back when I was starting out lol) Rdm/Blm Brd/Whm War/Mnk War/Nin Rdm/Blm and War/Mnk. It didn't too bad if I remember correctly. A deffinite lacking on MP but I was surprised at how well that party functioned. Fairly decent exp and what an odd party to have your very first time in Kazham. When the 6th joined, everyone was like "<That's interesting.> all Galka party." All in all though, we had a good time.
well thats what its all about.. I would rather take a fun party with my friends, getting OK xp, than taking a rude party with other people getting awesmoe xp..
What is the point of playing this game if you are not having fun doing it. I was very fortunate that i chose BLM as my main, and i had alot of BLM friends that were into the whole Black Mage party thing. At level 75 i think we were getting chain 11 or 12, and that was really fun and stuff..
anyways... Main point of my post was just to Congratulate people on having fun while getting XP, we all know how greuling the Grind can be!

On the night of the update, somehow we managed to get enough people to make a pt and went to camp darters in boyhada. About an hour into fighting the whm d/c's never to return. With 5 people we still were doing chain 5 just fine.
Pt setup: nin/war, rng/nin, rng/nin, whm/blm, rdm/blm, brd/whm.

Best party I was ever in was 43-45 in Crawlers Nest with:

We were doing crazy chains, in the teens easy, and we would pull miliple mobs and I would voke off for both Nins when we had two mobs going. Biggest issue was I missed a lot because I had to constantly use my macro's to change between VIT/DEF gear and DEX/ACC gear.
The second best was in Dunes with TWO Nin's, RDM, BLM, PLD, THF. Only prob is we didn't get past chain 5 due to lack of damage, but we had a lot of fun. Only deathes we had was due to Bogy's ;_;
