When I very first started, I just wanted a sub job. XD
Then I wanted to get to 30 so I could take up an advanced job (SMN)
Then I wanted level 20 so I could solo the avatars.
Once I did that, I leveled 3 more levels and decided, my real goal was Fenrir. I had thoughts about just saving gil to leech him, but ultimately decided I'd level another job to do it myself.
I've leveled BLM to 60 so far, so I can start working on the avatar whispers soon.
And then, Fenrir... he is my current goal, and almost one I've had from the start (as I had been interested in SMN since I looked at the back of the box and saw Ifrit)
Once I get him, I'm going back to level SMN mostly, to 75.
Never expected to take this route when I started as a WHM XD

Ninja to 71. I just want to beat Maat.
Every other job to 37...almost there but BRD is killing me slowly.
Other misc. crap like missions and quests.
But the ultimate goal is to try and show people that there are job combinations that havent been used before that are worthwhile. What are they you might ask? Give me a couple months and I'll let you know.

ahh the goals back in the day - well i did start the game afterhalloween which put me at a little disadvantage of leveling yet -
My goal was to be the first NA 75(no chance at first 75 since jp had such a huge lead). Our set raced to 50, once i caught up with sub and stuff, i was first NA to 50, but we got stuck on genkai 1 for like 2 weeks, no joke, in eldieme every day for 4 hrs. Itsy/bitsy group took the lead since they finished before us... At around 55 our set broke, so i had to rely on japanese pts since no NA were high enough to lvl with aside from itsy/bitsys set pt. race race race, hit 70, beat maat up 2nd try(was fastest record), rocket to 75 with skrgrs and yunn, even after we had to leave yunn behind since he lost to maat 50 times :P hit that january last year, like a week or 2 in
i achieved that ;D 4 months later i had a 75 smn too.
after that, my goals were simple, get great gear etc, do stuff well, raid hnm, well my hnm ls kinda flopped since lunies had all the high lvl tanks :P so my ls and lunies kinda merged, well we took our higher lvls and went to lunies i guess....well some of us at least. sorry jwb huggles etc! =p

Hum Hum. My goal, since I started Samurai has always been to be the most capable and well versed samurai on our server. I'm not competing with DRK or RNG for damage ^^ I'm striving to be the most flexible and informed samurai on bismarck. Not for recognition so much, as for personal enjoyment. I think sam get's the short end of the stick by squenix in several ways, but I find it fun to work around that for chain after chain. I get /tells sometimes for advice or suggestions from new sam's and sadly I always feel like people miss the sam's function. "I need this item for more damage" sure damage is great, but why did you blow your tp? oh well now I digress. The point is I put alot of effort into my samurai, and party formations, I also experiment alot. ^^

From before I ever started, rdm/drk all the way to 75, and to show the ignorant that it can work well.

So I came out with many goals in this game
Wanted smn - got the job
Wanted fenrir- beat him on my first try with my insane pt ; p
Wanted to fly around in an airship- got to do that
Warp2- got it

Since i beaten fenrir, I have been more chill about leveling and stuff, (haven't had too much trouble since i been in blm parties as of late). I been slowly leveling summoner too.
So my goals now is to finish all the rank missions of sandoria, ziltart mission ( on 4) and promy missions as well.
I want my blm AF2 and all the 1+ gear i need for my blm.
I also want smn AF2 and 1+ gear for my summoner.
After all that iam going back to merpth MTs and gonna kick warbeak **** for killing me on 2 seperate occasions.
Then i wanna go see the gods and kick some butt there too ; p
But iam not as level hungry as i was prior to fenrir so i can level slowly and not worry about it ; p. I know one day i will be there. In the meantime got cooking to 39 and intend on getting it to 80 at least. Maybe start goldsmithing ; p

Well my first goal was realized last week.
I got to kill Genbu.
The fight was exhillarating, everything I thought it would be. Slightly chaotic, very fun, and definatly enjoyable.
I'm sure the HNM'ers will be laughing at me for being so proud of killing what is recognized as the weakest of the sky gods, but we went through hell getting my entire LS sky access for anyone 60+ and the hard work was very worth it. Here's to Kingpopof and Stinna, for dragging our sorry butts through ZM after ZM and on to the Genbu battle. I can't wait to do it again:)

As I am easing off the game a bit in preparation for our coming baby, I had to retire from my static. Those great people have also put off leveling their main jobs in favor of working on other things until I can return.
I too have found a new love while WHM is on hold, Summoner. Currently level 34, I'm hoping to get it into the 50's by the time our baby gets here.
There in lies my goal(s), I would like:
1) To get Fenrir, my LS has helped me get all the whispers save Ifrit and Titan, and I should have those soon.
2) To have an Austere set of armor waiting for me when I hit level 50. This stuff isn't cheap, and I've never had more than 300k on me at any time, so this will be quite a challange.
Great thread Geran, grats on 60 man, look me up if I'm on and you're going for your Pimp Hat, I'll come for the ride. And if you need a SMN for a mid 30's party you know who to ask :)

I think my first goal was to see Dynamis first hand, from the moment I'd heard about it. At the time I didn't know it was a death sentence and required level 65 and rank 6 just to be allowed in, heh.
Currently 51, rank 5... but almost there!... though probably not really.

When i was a teeeeeeeny lil ronfaure noob i saw this PLD named Kanonn ( still plays i think ) standing AFK in sandy, he has my characters model, was in full paladin AF with golden sword and shield. Thats what i wanted to become, and i recently hit that point.
Level 69 Full AF ( thanks to those who helped ) Espadon and Generals Shield.

My goal when I started playing was RDM in full AF. Somehow what finally convinced me to start playing was a friend telling me, when I mentioned I liked RDM in past FFs, that I could look just like that in FFXI. He neglected to tell me it was lv60 armor of course. XD
Did that, got a little bored and was inspired by exping with one WAR (Centaur) and having AF3 fights tanked by another (Laty) and decided I wanted to be an endgame WAR tank. Been doing that for about eight months now. ^^
No goals now, which is probably kind of odd. I should come up with some.

My goals have mutated somewhat since I first started playing right after NA release. I remember buying the game and (somewhat later) that dippy Bradygames guidebook and deciding that I wanted to be the Master of Melee. All melee jobs at 75. Yeah, that's gonna happen. But I actually tried to do it; I leveled everything I could get my hands on. Couldn't get a party in one job? Switch to another and LFG! Grind, grind, grind. Burnt myself out quick-like.
So after eight months away, I came back and my goals are a little bit different. I want to get THF and SAM to 75, Sky, Dynamis, yadda yadda. I want to get WAR and NIN and RNG to 37 - no small feat, given the passion with which I hate leveling those jobs.
But there's a lot of other stuff, too. I've never had the benefit of knowing ppl who would push me to do things like missions and quests and camps and whatnot, I want to find exactly that - a LS or static or something that will push me to explore the game further and reap the benefits of doing so. Sound silly? Not to me.
It's sorta hard to sit here and read people talking about sky and dynamis and whatnot, and to think that my silly goals - both short and long term - amount to a whole hill of beans. But I'm also pretty sure that once I've clawed my way to THF 60, standing there in my AF, with a hornetneedle on my belt, I'll feel just about as good.

well, at first my goal was simple : have fun with my real-life friends playing the game. However, they all quited soon or later ( @_@) but something else was keeping me in Vanadiel.
The world, the adventures, the scenery and more importantly, the people. That was pretty much it... it was simply to mess around in Vanadiel, going on adventures/challenges, meeting new people and Tank HNM.
Kinda impossible goal to accomplish given the magnitude of Vanadiel. Some might never even be accomplished due to various factor but it doesn't matter much. It's nice to acomplish goals but it's more important to remember the journey.
On to that, I could leave Vanadiel tomorrow and have no regret (well, I lied... few regrets).
The world, the adventures, the scenery and more importantly, the people. That was pretty much it... it was simply to mess around in Vanadiel, going on adventures/challenges, meeting new people and Tank HNM.

My goal was to be an uber force able to destroy anything with little effort and show off to noobs.
But as life loves to **** with me, I got the power (BLM75) but the whole destroy anything with little effort got all turned around on me and now I die at the drop of a hat.
