The test of greed.Follow

Well, i know that alot of you who dont really know who i am, and have never even been in a party with me, or done any quests with me, would like to call me a Greedy bas[Black][/Black]tard. And thats ok.. i can take that.. but i have a little story to tell, and its rather funny that when i have shared it with people, they tell me that what i did was stupid, and they would have not done the same..

Most of the higher level people level 73-75 have recieved thier Relic weapons by now, and have started to collect Dynamis currency so they can upgrade to the next level, and then spend month after month collecting more from LS Dynamis runs so they can get more and more.. Most people will sell the Currency from anywhere from 5k-10k. Well, i would like to upgrade my Relic staff, just because I think it would be cool, so i have been amassing as many T. whiteshells, Bronze pieces, and Byne bills as i can.. i put them in my bazaar to let people know i have them, and that i would prolly buy some..



i put them in my bazaar for 100k each.. that way nobody would be silly enough to buy them.. Well, the other day, some Japanese Only person bought 12 of them.. lol for 1.2 million gil.. at first i didnt even notice, till i was looking at my inventory, and i was like wtf? where did my T. Whiteshells go? then i started searching in the log for who would have done it.. it took me a while but then i found it..

So, a asked the person why? and they said mistake.. and then proceded to ask me if they could have it back.. I said yes, found the person, and gave them back the 1.2 million and when on my buisness.. I started telling a few people what had happened, and to my utter surprise people were like..

Why? It was his mistake, i say you keep it.. Or like i would tell them i passed the test of greed.. lol and then i would get responses like.. "Well you failed in my book" or "That was a stupid thing to do".. of course i got told i was a nice guy and such, but the majority of people said they would have kept the gil..

So, i was wondering.. What would you have done? And do you think what i did was stupid? I for one think that if this happened to me, i would appreciate the same courtesy, and i think it was the right thing to do.. So yeah.. i would like some feedback..





Oh on a side note.. Remember when i bought all those astral rings, and there was a certain person.. hmm.. oh yeah Tsetsuo.. he posted pics of me, so people would get all pissed off and stuff at me.. Well guess who i saw selling a astral ring in his Bazaar for 750k!! thats right.. Geez, they dont even sell at the AH for that much..


Now i cant wait to see the response to this.. lmao..

Meh, if someone makes a mistake by buying something off my bazaar or auction and tell me the {mistake}, of course I would give everything back to him/her. But if he/she doesn't tell me anything, I won't run after him/her in most of the cases. But that's what Hiptaruu did, and it's one more story to proof he's a very nice guy.

lol when you sent me a tell i did respond, and i will respond the same way here:

"i don't want to sell it, but if someone really wants one then thats what it would be worth to me to part with it."

At the time i added it to my bazarr they were around 700k and even now they are 700k, i just checked.

why would someone list an item for a high price that they really had no desire to sell?


I have thunder III in there for 99,999,999 I am such a greedy *******.

when did the astral ring price start getting really high ... oh thats right...

Why would you rehash an old issue over something that isn't even close to being similar?

well, sorry, i didnt see your reply.. and i just think that it is the ultimate form of hipocracy.. at least thats what a few people around me said.. lol

And yes you ahve Thunder III in your bazaar for 99,999,999 because you will get to use the scroll one day.. i remember when i did that with Thunder IV. I remember when the Astral rings prices started to rise.. it was after that update, when they changed the location.. and i dont think i was responsible at all for it.. because guess what.. The rings sell for the same price on all the other servers, and i didnt go buy them all out on those servers did i..

and I bet i know who rated everybody down in this thread..

Well grats hip on showing your a good guy (even though i knew you were in the first place),it looks like fire and tse were made fools of originally and want to stab your rep since they cant stab you.

I find it highly amusing your means of trying to get a pat on the back Hiptaru.

As Tsetsuo already said, how selling one ring in a bazaar for a slight profit (one that is only in his bazaar anyhow because it was replaced with a better ring) is anywhere near the same as buying all 15 from the AH and trying to triple/quadruple the price on them, is completely beyond me.

Are you still this sore that a large portion of the community frowns upon you because you got called out on this, to bring it up again?

And what the fu[/b]ck is this load of bullsh[b]it about how you think you've passed this "test of greed?" For every nice thing you've done in this game like this, it's been backed up with 20 times the amount of scheming and greedy attempts and making yourself money at others expense. In fact I don't even believe you gave this guy his money back. But thats beside the point.

Whoa, hold on there guy, you might want to lay off, the brain cells seem to be running thin.

Astral rings wouldn't have stayed at that price if people weren't willing to pay that much for them. You don't find me whining when I finally had 4 million gil to buy Eurytos' Bow a few months ago only to go to the AH and find that it was up over 1-2 million. Now it's at 10 million, and I have nearly no chance of getting it any time soon, as I continued leveling RNG and there are other things I needed to buy.


It also seems that we don't know how to ignore people here. Some slight thing is said, and that person immediately jumps to defend himself.

Tse, if Hip is as bad as you think he is, let his actions speak for themselves. There's no reason you should have to defend yourself. People that think the same as you won't listen to Hip, and actually defend you if given the chance. Aut is the perfect example of that.

Regardless, Hip did more than I would. I'd return the gil if asked, but not unless the person sought me out. I garuntee that most people wouldn't be that outgoing, and it shows Hip's character that he'd do that. The reason Hip posted this from my point of view is simple: most people play this game for fun, but get too caught up in the game and stop playing for fun. It's more a stress to get gil and get the best gear than it is to stop farming or stop leveling to be with your linkshell. In that aspect, people will do anything to get ahead and get more gil, and people accept that common courtesy isn't alive in-game, when it's just that--a game.

Rant aside, things are taken too seriously in a game that's meant to be fun. That's my main problem with this game right now, though finding a group of friends that know how to put that desire to take the game too seriously has helped me more than I can say.

I have to agree fully on what Drowsorez said.

You know if TseTsuo were to make this post everyone would be like "OMFG TSET YOU'RE SO FOOKING NICE OMG CAN I CLEAN YOUR SHOES?!"

Autechre would say something like "wow Tset what a nice thing to do, it's good to have people like you on Bismarck :)"

All I have to say is get over yourself. You know who you are, and if you don't. You're the reason this topic turned out the way it did.

Ugh, just wanted to add that I never had anything against you Hip, nor do I now.

Also, I would have returned the gil. I can't say that I've ever been given anything in this game. Hell, my Secret Santa even ditched on me!

If it was an honest mistake, then it takes an honest person to respond correctly.
