Arria, you're absolutely right, and it's one of the cardinal rules of this thread - cut newbies some slack. From now on, folks, if you're going to add someone you partied with in the Dunes to this list, I expect them to be rank 7 and on their 10th job.

from the first post in the thread:

Quote:
3) I'd really prefer if we left new players out of this thread. I don't think anyone on their first time through the Dunes is fair game - they'll learn better later. Start another thread for "LOL NEWBZ" stories if you like, but please reserve this one for warnings about people who SHOULD know better or who are flat-out malicious.

I wanted to post 2 people here for people to be on the look out for. Neither of these people were jerks or anything, but they just do not know how to do their jobs well at all.

Cellus - 65 RDM. Very bad RDM. Doesn't dispel ever, and doesn't listen to anyone. Don't know if he doesn't understand english well or what, but I've pt'd with him 3 or 4 times now (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment) and he has to be the worst red mage I've ever pt'd with. Just for example, an elemental pops nearby and we shout over and over to not cast magic. It seems that everyone listened, but then Cellus goes and casts refresh on himself and gets aggro. Another time a crawler pops nearby our camp. We shout over and over for everyone to move, which everyone does. Everyone, except Cellus, who continues to stand there casting Refresh and various spells on himself while we keep telling him to move. Of course, he gets aggro and once again we have to escape. He then says he didn't notice us yelling at him in party chat. Please don't invite this guy. He needs to learn how to do his job before he levels it any further.

Hulksmash - 64 MNK. Once again, not a bad guy, just really dense. Doesn't listen to what anyone tells him, doesn't play his job well, and makes a lot of mistakes like getting aggro on the way to camps and such. If you have a THF in your party with this guy, it's going to be a rough experience. He doesn't work well with THFs at all. He won't get behind the mob so the THF can SATA off of it. It takes him forever to initial voke so that tank can set up behind the mob for THF to SATA. He usually lets the puller get beat on for almost half their HP's before he finally vokes. I'm thinking he may be a younger kid, and he really doesn't seem to understand some of the mechanics of the game. I've pt'd with him a couple times, and each time we've had someone die almost from the start because of his mistakes. Beware inviting him.

Rate-up to Bagram for giving the two people in question more than a second chance, but instead 3-4 chances. This is above and beyond the call of duty.

Also for being generally polite and understanding in his reasoning for adding them to the list.

I second YukioOfBismarck's post on adding Illusions to this list.

Way back when before I even signed up to post on these threads, I managed to find my way into a party in Crawler's Nest where Illusions was the White Mage. We were heading down to the hidden room in CN, where the item replicator machine is, and when we finally got to the bottom of the ramp, I sneaked everyone who needed sneak, or could not sneak themselves (I was a BLM/RDM in my 40's at the time). Since Illusions was our White Mage, also above lvl 40, there was no doubt in my mind that he did not have sneak.

Sure enough, as everyone on the party began to head towards the hidden room in CN, we see Illusion's HP dropping fast. Apparently he got aggrod by an exoray. After he dies, he blames me for not sneaking him, calls me various nasty names, and then he home points back to Jeuno, and disbands from the party.

Apparently, he was by himself in this conclusion, since everyone else in the party agreed with me that it was not my fault for not sneaking the White Mage. In fact, he should have helped sneak everyone on the way to camp, including himself. Instead, he refused to spend any MP for a mere sneak. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not going to sneak someone who knows the spell and is just too damn lazy to cast it. If you run into Illusions, avoid him.

Oh man, Illusions.

Yeah.

I was in a pt with him ages ago, as a RDM lvl 41 or so (odd that he's still about that lvl o.O)
WE were waiting for him to tele us to Altep, but he kept us waiting for half an hour while he tried to decide on armor and food, etc. No apologies for this, just "Should I get this or this?"

We ended up kicking him finally, after standing around feeling foolish for all that time. He was really contemptuous and impolite to everyone, and I'm kind of glad we were never exposed to his WHMing skills.

Poseidonsiegel

This guy was a BLM who thought BLMs should never debuff and just nuke like it's the last mob of a possible chain #5 then sit and rest the remainder of the battle after he had already sent hate flying everywhere.

Even after several of the pt made polite suggestions he would just say, "I am not wasting mp on debuffs, that's a RDM's job (when we had no RDM). I have to save my mp to keep you all alive! (even though he never cured one time)." Then the last mob we all died on before I disbanded he zoned when the mob had about 1/10 HP left while he still had over 120 HP and 123 MP left and he would not cure any of us.

He was Elvaan with BLM/RDM job, so he didnt have uber mp to begin with, used no food or drink, and would rest EVERY TIME til he had full mp, even while we were fighting a new mob, he would just rest during the first half of the battle. At one point he even seemed upset when we asked him to cast something he said, "Well, I am trying to eat while I do this, too."

O.o

***** your dumb ass Poseidonsiegel. The worst part is the party was going really well before he came along and everyone got along and was having a good time. Then the BLM had to leave and we had to get this ****. Just goes to show you people who think a bad player thread is a bad idea, these players should be called out. Its not a crime to be a poor video game player but it is a crime IMO to make several other people from wherever in the world they are have a miserable time after they had been having so much fun.

Heh Taruofdeath was in my PT for a bit last night, but as SMN. He wasn't lotting on anything at least. He was asking me tons of questions about avatar battles though, cost per battle, which ones are difficult etc. Asked me for gil to do the battles but told him the battles left me broke so I couldn't.

Now, there is something I find odd about him though. Someone mentioned that he is a newbie so not to go to harshly on him, but he has the SMN job, so he had to have gotten SOMETHING to 30 you'd think. While partying with him, I had thought that perhaps he purchased his account. Either that or he has just been squeaking by.

As for how he was playing, he was letting carbuncle out, letting him use poison nails, then leaving him out to melee. We had a power level though so there was no need for him to do any backup healing, so I can say for sure whether he would or not if needed. Also, the most interesting thing I noticed were his macros. His release macro said in /s "Return from whence you came!" Word for word from the Brady guide XD

Before he left, he added me to his friends list >_> /sigh. I have a hard time telling people no so I accepted. He wasn't rude at least so there may be hope for him. ^^;

Longshanks I had the displeasure of grouping with him a few times in CN. Probably one of the most egocentric people I've met playing this game, and for some reason he decided to play a paladin. I beleive the best line out of his mouth was "I don't play this game to help other people".

Group leaders beware.

This one is getting added just for obnoxiousness and for obviously low maturity levels.

Nagasaki, lv 18 taru BLM. Spam invited me tonight in the dunes because my search comment said not to (because I despise blind invites, I put "/tell first" in my comment and "spam invite won't work.") So, in a lovely show of maturity, this Taru spam invites me until I blacklist him. I don't see him for awhile, til later that night when he gets invited to a party when he immediately disbands when I take him off my blist and acknowledge his presence. Another hour passes, leader of the party changes, and Nagasaki is again invited to the party and again leaves when he sees I'm in it. Not a word is uttered.

Of course that's nothing to be reported for, but the fact that he acts like a little child and then runs and doesn't take responsibility for his actions merits mentioning. Also, the THF in my party apparently knew him and used a couple vulgar words to describe him so it's obvious he has done something in the past.

Be wary.

For once perhaps it would have been nice to drop your elitist attitude and enlighten him on the role that a summoner really plays in a party. I partied with this kid once, he was your typical overnuking black mage until I started talking to him in /tell about mp conservation. (he asked me for gil as well, I said no as well)
Believe it or not people are new to this game everyday, and not everyone spends their whole life reading allakhazam, killingifrits, or ffvault. (I am not one of these people, I must stay entertained while at work)
I think this is another example of how the "Players to watch out for thread" is being taken too far. He's a newbie asking questions and unsure of how to do his job, yet since he's not up to your level as far as knowledge goes, you automatically assume he's a bad player and a bad person.

I saw someone post something that intrigued me...

Quote:
Currently lvl 46-47 WHM named: Brenetta

For starters:
underleveled sub, ok this was not the worst thing though still unacceptable.

Equipment:
merc. captains head and body. the only mage like items they were wearing were 2 electrums and a red cape. They had a justice badge (lvl 7) as well. and no earrings.

did not have teleport-altep or even the GC. so we were forced to go to CN;;

Ahh man, I thought this name looks familiar. I was in a party with Bren around level 49, and she didn't have Altepa Gate Crystal nor the spell. I'm cool with that, maybe annoyed, but still alright with it.

The thing that boggles my mind is...she went AFK for 10 minutes, she comes back saying...
<Bren> Hey guys I got enough money now for Altep
<party> Cool it should be roughly 80k
<Bren> Yeah I know, I bought gil
<Bren> It'll be here shortly
..........................

Needless to say the party leader booted her after that.

Battosai-

ARG he's done a lot of crazy stuff to many people..But this is the reason i dont like him...

So i'm in CN looking for my RDM AF boots.. (this was like.. 4weeks ago..) and i get a /tell asking me if i can help him with a mission. i had never met this guy before. so i was like "srry i am unable to.. im busy atm" then he keeps asking me 3 more times.. so i finally gave in "OK ILL HELP U!" i say.. Well.. i go to meet the pty in jeuno and hes leader. He tells me i will need an instant warp to get back.. (at this point i had never bought an instant warp b4 and didnt know where to get them) so i asked him where. he said " i dunno, try the ah" but they were not in ah. so i asked the pty and they told me " ohh its sold from guard for conquest points" and he made fun of me in pty saying " OMG u DONT KNOW!!!! LMAO!!" even though HE did not know.. Later on e are chocoboing to the mission place and he just keeps being a smart *** just making rude comments about how great he is, and how stupid everyone else is. hes VERY hard to get along with. i only stayed because i had an ls member in his group or i woulda told him where he can shove his staff.

Moral of Story: I have also herd he stole someones leaping boots.i would not lend him anything if i were you people ^^;; he is also VERY ungreatful for peoples help.. last time i HELP HIM with a mission

Ugh This is an Idiot, and from what i gather from friends he used to brag that he bought Gil online. He is Very immature and Very Rude to People. I have partied with him and cebause of him i left party before we got to Camp due to his Rudeness. This is one player that yall must watch for

I Totally Agree with this, How can you put someone on here for not knowing there job. I can see if its lvl 50 or so then mabey i would be a lil bit leary. But you said he was pleasent to you and such, so then why would you put him on here? Varcore is right on bro i think you need to come down a few notches. Your Attitude towards him will only make him be a worse player. If you have a problem with his play /tell him about it and offer advice. If he then becomes and Asshat then i would say put him on here but for not knowing a job that seems kinda petty on your part

I think you misunderstood my post. First, someone had already put him on this list. I was merely making additional comments (I probably should've made that more clear). Second, I answered every question he asked me about SMN. Third, I said we had a power level so he didn't need to back up heal. Fourth, I added him to my friends list, how is that "elitist"? Fifth, I said he was acting BETTER than when the last person posted.

Sixth, I said there is hope for him because he is not rude, how is that "assuming he's a bad person"? Seventh, I didn't mention it before (I belive the first person did) but he did seem to go AFK at several points, not doing anything for a few battles. Eighth, he has SMN job, it's fine that he is learning that particular job, but it means he has gotten something to 30 and at that point you're not really a newbie anymore. There is always something to learn, but by then I think you'd have the basics (like wearing pants) down.

Finally, I still agree, to a degree with the first person that commented on him. At this point from what I have seen of him he'll just tie up a PT slot that could be much better used by someone not going AFK without notice or someone not asking strangers for gil or someone wearing pants. I acknowledged there is hope for him, but until then, know that you're going to have to pick up slack for him.

If you still think I'm some sort of "elitist" then oh well, *shrug* I've said all I wanted to about this. Can't please everyone ><

Wow... I saw Briann's name in posts earlier and I was compelled to back up the previous posters. I pt'd with Briann in garlington citidel (sp >_<). Setup 2pld 2thf whm blm

Basically it was a SATA fest, we timed it to have a SATA every 30 seconds. One of our pld left, but lucky (or so I thought) we got another pld.. Briann.

Sure not everyone knows the concept of SATA, but its not that hard... stand behind the mob, let the thf do the rest right? Nope for the life of him he would not stand behind the mob, forcing me to be the SATA partner for other thf (and vise versa).

Briann finally got fed up with us asking him over and over and over to stand behind, and he disbanded and logged. About 15 minutes later we see him in the pt next to us... not as a tank, but their main healer >_<; Needless to say we got a good laugh out of it... but wait there is more!

A few days later I see him on my ls at the time (EliteTaruCollective, good group^^) I decide to give him a second chance, I say hello and ask how he is doing. No hi back just a, Will someone help me get RSE in gusgen mines? I reply that I was on my way there, but I was a thf... so I was just going to pick the lock, not fight monsters for the key. He reply's with a "You all suck". wow... I wasnt gonna let some ****** pld talk to my ls like that, so I rudely asked him to drop his pearl and never ask for one again.

Sorry for the long post, this guy just gets under my skin. Bad player, retarded pld IMO

If he didn't reply to you, you may have been on his black list. People like that tend to jump on offers like that really quick, so it's odd he didn't.

And guys, look for the Players to watch out for discussion thread and take your argument in there.

Since the last 'bad players' thread has thankfully been closed, I'm starting up a new one with new ground rules. Some of this stuff is pure common sense and I'm sure most of you don't need to be told, but enough people do seem to have a problem getting it through their heads that it's worthwhile to set the rules from the get-go.

1) Don't just throw out a name because you don't like someone. Please provide an example of why this person should be avoided.

2) Please don't bash an entire linkshell because of one person... as much fun as the last trainwreck was, I don't think we need yet another thread closed.

4) This is the MOST IMPORTANT rule. If you have a dispute with a mention on this thread, DO NOT start arguing within this thread itself. Either take it to the new PM system (thank you, O Great Admins) or, if you feel the need to defend yourself publicly, please remove your discussion to this thread.

This thread is meant to be a place for us to warn each other about untrustworthy, rude, or just plain unsavory players, not to be a running blacklist or place for rumormongering. Again, I believe that most forum posters understand that, but it's worth a reminder. If we all try to be as rational and clear-headed as possible, with any luck, this thread will survive longer and with less problems than the last.

Thanks in advance.

Not that this has anything to do with a PLD refusing to work with SATA and then trying to play main healer (both irritating beyond comprehension), but your stating that you'd only pick locks not fight monsters for keys is in effect telling him you won't help him. XD He'd need the key to get his RSE, and he'd need to open the chest himself. If you were going to be opening the chest without needing RSE and/or outside of your race/gender time it would also increase the respawn time for his chest, making the RSE chest hunt more grueling than it already is. All I'm saying is...maybe that is why he got mad and said everyone sucks. Still not excuseable, but...

No no no. I will be the first to back up what was said about Briann. He claims to be in his mid-twenties, but acts about 14. He was in MysticAvengers and was booted after openly talking about buying gil, calling us all idiots, and sending me a /t with many expletives that weren't necessary. He pretty much only asked for help, never offering to aid anyone else.

I saw him in Dunes playing as an unsubbed lvl 11 Monk. I believe he started a new account for some reason...maybe it was cancelled due to someone reporting him, I'm not sure. Either way, I didn't assume it was the same Briann until I walked by him and he slapped me. Needless to say, I got a laugh out of that.

I'd also like to add Arrielle (We are now 99% sure it was her) to the list. Lvl 35 elvaan thf...she was in Gustav Tunnel, stealing off gobs and then fleeing to zone. She also has a higher level rdm, I believe. This action pulled the Poachers, Robbers, etc right into both my camp and another. We needed 4 high level LS friends to clear her mess....our WHM died on the first train she brought. On that note, I'd like to THANK Jenx, Aaylah, Detric, and Taylore for some great comedy during probably the WORST xp, but most FUN party I've had in awhile.

Edit: To update about name....twice

Well, make sure you double check that spelling, because there's an Aryana and an Ariana and a couple others. Either that name's really popular or it's from a game I've never played. Aryana is a GOOD person, I can vouch for her, only saw Ariana pass me by (and pretty sure it was a THF actually), and I saw the other one as a mule. Only posting this so the wrong Aryana doesn't get a bad rep.

EDIT

New addition: Infamouskiller

Hume RDM, absolutely arrogant and overreactive. Blindly invites a LS member when he is not even seeking. LS member declines. About an hour later, he sends a /tell "pt" and that's it, sending the invite again. LS member declines and, as is his way of playing, says to Infamouskiller that he will Black List him for the BlindInvite if he continues to press it. Infamouskiller gets rude, says the "F-word" and threatens to put the LS member on his LS's blacklist board. I then get involved, telling him he has no place putting the LS member on the board when he himself was the arrogant one. Infamouskiller claims the LS member was rude in his declining and with the Black List warning, and "didn't mean to blindly invite." To which I said, if it was an accident, you tell him, otherwise you are the one who is overreacting." Naturally I never got a reply to that, and I am most likely on his black list and his entire LS's blacklist. Not that I care, I really won't miss his company.

For as high and mighty as he acts, he not only had an underleveled sub (something I rarely pick on, but when you act elitist, you better fit the bill), but couldn't even form a coherent sentence.

No doubt in my mind he has followers here, so if you would like to contest this, please, feel free. Follow the link provided in the original post or what Nataraja posted.

[ANOTHER EDIT]

Now he has no room to talk. Two mins ago he sent another tell out of the blue to my LS member, "****." Wasn't provoked, LS member siad absolutely nothing to him since he stopped talking, and then he says that to him. This is why I nearly quit this game, because some little boys have too much time on their hands.

I just noticed the other day that he is the lone person on my /blist. But I can't remember why :-/ I really wish they would let you leave a note for yourself when you /blist somebody.

So I guess I second his nomination on this list, but it's a cautious second since I can't remember the reason. But he must have annoyed me in some way.
