So, Studio Ghibli teamed up with Sony to do a video game. I don't own a PS3, but this is the first PS3 exclusive I've been interested in. Honestly, not so much for me, but because I think my fiance would dig it. The ingame engine actually does Ghibli's animation style pretty well & the animation for the in game movies looks excellent.
I've been putting off getting a PS3 as I'd pretty much only use it as a blue ray player (I haven't upgraded to blue ray, own an xbox that I pretty much only use for Netflix, & play most games on PC), but now I'm actually thinking about it. Thoughts?

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time but it seems we'll have to wait another year Namco Bandai postponed the release to Q1 2013 instead of winter 2012.
So Digimon/Jade Cocoon type game? Can't say I've ever been disappointed by a Ghibli film, but this is a game and obviously requires more than stunning visuals and music to be enjoyable. Guess it all really depends on when it's released and what is released during the same time frame.

It's pretty much a standard JRPG with Ghibli's storytelling and visual expertise.
They're selling a special edition of this available only through the Namco store. It comes with two in-game character thingies, a mini-plush, and a 300 page hard cover book, that is quite beautiful by the way. This is the first special edition of a game I've purchased (only pre-sale so far). I nearly bought the special edition of Dead Rising 2 and ended up passing.
I'm am so ridiculously hyped for this game. I started playing through Dragon Quest VIII again earlier today. Level 5 has a juggernaut on their hands with this game.
By the way, here's a newer video clip with all gameplay footage from 2012 E3. Skip to 0:35 to get to the IGN dude and Namco rep doing commentary while the game is played.
