It was the first RPG I ever laid eyes on, and to this day, one of my favorite games ever. I don't understand why exactly... There is virtually no challenge, (although back in 1996 when I first played I thought it was hard, and died many times), the battles are repetitive, and it ends far, far too short.

There is something about the way the sound effects, the music, the sprites, battle system and the interface itself that blends together so beautifully. How did this happen? It was just supposed to be some collaborative effort between Square and Nintendo to make a game that would draw the interest of more mainstream gamers typically familiar with Super Mario and little else. Instead, it was like Square met eyes with Nintendo, and became overwhelmed with desire, mounting her from behind and thrusting his perfectly hard wood into her eager and anticipating pink *******, releasing almost instantly, throbbing and quivering in an ****** that would last for the rest of eternity, and they called it Legend of the Seven Stars.

Of course, there were other good RPGs back in that decade... Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Breath of Fire, to name a few. None of them were quite able to create that same feeling though.

To pick up a typical Japanese made RPG these days is like stuffing your mouth as full as you can with sawdust and afterward attempting to swallow it all with only an ounce of water...

Now they're both impotent. Shame, really.

While I don't think I enjoyed LotSS nearly as much as you did, it was still a shining example of what Squaresoft used to be. The company that many of us fell in love with and follow (unfortunately) to this day. There are very few combat sequences, to this day, that compare to Bowser throwing Mario at an enemy. Even the DS Mario RPGs have been highly enjoyable experiences.

Was the hidden fantasies of Square and Nintendo kinda freak me out, I did really enjoy Mario RPG. One of the many games I miss since I've sold my SNES years ago.

Some of the side quests were difficult/time consuming. The only part I ever had problems was the giant weeding cake. Something about it could heal itself or re light candles or something maybe?

Otherwise yea pretty easy. Can pretty much max out if im not mistaken easily before end of the game?

Ya, the cake could relight candles. I remember having trouble with that one when I first played it. But I remember the solution being something simple.

I loved Super Mario RPG, but I don't like the Paper Mario and the newer Mario RPG games (Like Bowser's Inside Story, etc.) Legend of the Seven Stars had just the right amount of timed inputs during battle. The ones for the GBA and NDS focused way too much on A/B (and X/Y for the DS) button timing and screen touches. When I started playing them, I was expecting them to be much closer to the SNES Super Mario RPG... and was disappointed.

I had trouble with the cake a lot my first time as well. Granted, I was child, but later I found the best way was to attack it relentlessly, even if it is a weak attack, it makes one candle go out. Also I agree, the new Mario RPG games are just "meh" in comparison. Part of me wishes there was a way to reverse engineer the old game and expand it somehow or create a decent sequel.

I haven't played any of the other Mario RPG's (Paper Mario) but I have fond memories of LotSS, It wasn't hard or challenging, mostly but had a good mix exploration, story, gameplay. While not being to heavy or to light. I was more into FF4/6, Chronotrigger, but it was still a very playable game. Kinda funny I recently grabbed an SNES emulator and a few roms to replay some older games, FF6 fanslation, Chronotrigger (Since i dont have a DS, and MarioRPG.

Also Viva la Geno

and If you havent seen this. You should it's awesome!

Oh yeah, the classic Super Mario RPG was a blast. Complex enough that a thicky like me had a bit of a challenge but not overly complicated that it would turn people who are not familiar with RPGs. I remember one of my fondest memories of playing that game is one really retarded but completely OCD thing I did. Whenever I used "Geno Blast" I would always say out loud "Geno Blast from the past!". Didn't matter who was around when I did it, I would say it. Amusingly enough I played my friends emulator about a month ago and it turns out I still do it. -_-

Edit: Awesome Mario video is awesome.
