I'm currently in the process of playing through it. I don't like how it's blatantly obvious that you're getting pushed around all the time, hell, the party is actually making jokes about it. Also, why the hell reveal Alex that early? It's quite obvious it's him.
Barring some minor story gripes, I like it a lot. It's the old-school RPG I've been after for a good while now, although it could've been a tad harder as far as I'm concerned.
To correct my previous statement about the overall difficulty, yes, the game could've been more difficult. The final boss... yeah, difficulty spike. Mashing attack isn't going to work.
Edit: Just beat the game.
What, the, ****. That made absolute no sense to me. You activate the lens and stop the eclipse. The same thing Chalis and Blados wanted to do is what you just did before living happily ever after. Then there's Alex, who is just gone. He acts as a diversion for Tuaparang, they come back to act as a final boss and afterwards, Alex is gone. He just tells Matthew not do climb those stairs or he'll die, nice of him. Now after Rief joins you hear nothing about those Psynergy vortexes or that Mourning Moon, the reason you went out to grab a Roc Feather in the first place until the very, very last scene of the game. I'm quite forgiving on a lot of story elements, but I don't get some of these.
Only boss I have problems with is Dullahan, and that's more likely I'm underleveled for it. As far as the ending, its essentially leading to a sequel, which I'm looking forward to.
