KOTOR 2 is a mess without the fan made patch to add all the lost content.

had forgotten exactly how old kotor/2 are, my pc should be able to handle them. which particular mod is this? darthstoney's?

I assume its the restoration project started by Team Gizka. I had been following them closely until a couple of years back, as the mod seemed to be progressing so slowly I figured that it was never going to happen. I had actually forgotten all about it until it was mentioned here on this thread.

Anyway I still had the link in my favourites, however it seems like the site is now down (No idea how long its been down, whether its permanent or temporary) www.Team-Gizka.org

Basically due to time constraints and presure to hurry up and release the game, an aweful lot of content was cut from the final release. Including an entire planet (The droid planet), an additional companion (iirc), and the end of the game was a lot more fleshed out and in depth. There was also a HK factory area that got cut.

A lot of these files were still on the game disks, they were just never implemented in game, so the team had been trying to restore them as best they could.

I did however find a brief trailer on youtube for those interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjTw8qexs8c

All the mines and other traps in KOTOR hurt it for me. :/ Enter a room, frantically search for any mines, try to disable them before your idiot teammates run into them.

Places where this wasn't happening were fun though. And the storyline was pretty darn good for a Star Wars game, though the bar is fairly low on that one.

KOTOR 2 is a mess without the fan made patch to add all the lost content.

However, with it, it's one of the greatest games I've ever played.

KOTOR 1, however... I don't know why it's not on there.

I could have sworn I read about them being put on Xbox Live not too long ago. I must have read there were "plans" to put them up. I'd say they'll get there eventually.

As for EA buying Bioware... just look at Mass Effect 1 & 2. You can see the difference EA's influence has all over Mass Effect 2. On the positive side, the graphics are better, and there is a wider variety of environments and stuff (no more recycled copypasta underground bunkers like in Mass Effect 1.)

On the negative side... there is much less of an RPG element. The game feels a lot more like playing Gears of War than Mass Effect. This is where the "mass appeal" kicks in. The leveling system is streamlined to the point where there is no reason to have it in there. There are also a lot of times where it feels like the dialogue is forced into having swear words and other "tough guy" talk to make the game feel "edgy" when really it just feels retarded and awkward.

EA kills the soul of the companies it buys. It's that simple.

I didn't like Kotor at all, I tried playing it 3 times, got bored every single time, same with Fable, Mass Effect, Oblivion, I just can't get into most western RPG's, they seem watered down, too easy.

As opposed to JRPGs in which the only interaction is telling a group of androgynous, whiny tweens to attack goblins for 30 straight hours? Smiley: rolleyes
