Conjurer vs. NecroFollow

I just want people's opinions. I see a lot of conj but not too many necros. And what about damage who does more and who's better at solo play? Thanks!

As a Necro, I will try to answer this as un-biased as I can:

Both: Solo effectively. Probably the top solo classes in the game because of roots and pet tanking.

DPS: On shorter fights, I've seen Conj's do nice dps. On longer fighters Nec dots can steadily take a mob down. I think Conj's get more straight up nukes...where as Nec's are very limited in that area (Lifetap, Masterstrike, AA Dethreat, thats it).

Heals: Conj's do not heal. Necro's do. With AA our roots/stuns/etc can heal our pet without even using our life. Conj's get a nice stoneskin for their pet (Necro's can get a limited "absorb 3 hit" or "drain mana instead of damage" abilities with AA).

Pets: Both have 3 pet classes that are great for a variety of situations. Tank pets are pretty self-explanatory. Scout pets are nice for single target dps, and mage pets are nice for encounters (I also believe both class mage pets get some healing spells, at least I know necro mage pets do).

In the end I would say it comes down to preference and gear. A raid geared Conj will out DPS a solo content geared Nec, and vice versa.

Things I sometimes play...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a unicorn!"
"Awww, why's that?"........
"So I can stab people with my face."

Conjurors do get a pet-only heal, though it's a far cry from fantastic.

Like Dya said, both have nice aspects. I've played my Conjuror into her late 60s now and I enjoy it. Personally have never tried a necro but always have been impressed with their dps output in groups.

from a totally different angle...

I have a high level sage and I sell a lot of spells. Between conji and necro spells, the conji spells sell a little faster and for higher prices (both common and rare). However, I find that necro spells sell well across the board while it's mostly the conji nukes & pets that sell fast.

From this I can draw the following conclusions:

over time it will cost a little less to keep a necro updated with spells
there may be more conjis out there (since demand for spells is slightly higher)
necros tend to keep their entire line updated while conjis concentrate on upgrading their nukes & pets

please note: these conclusions are drawn from an EXTREMELY small pool of data!!!
