I know that EQ2's numbers do not compare to WoW's but then again no other games #'s do.
Yeah and Hannah Montana & the Jonas Brothers are both huge... doesn't mean I want to buy their records... The size of the player pool doesn't necessarily prove that the larger game is the healthier game. In EQ2, there are countless active players and guilds stretching across all servers, with all play styles well represented. Guild groups and PUGs for whatever tier you are in are almost always easy to come by. Overall, the population is vibrant and growing.

Is the game still living strong and at this stage of its life is it worth returning to and sinking effort into?
I've just returned after almost a year away and yeah, I think the game is worth coming back to. In fact, I have found that after rolling up a couple new characters and starting fresh on a new server this time, I'm really having a ball! Even the oldest content feels fresh to me now!

A big difference between this game and wow is that on the whole, the community is far more mature. Sure, you'll find some whiners and cry-babies here just like you'll find some adults there but on the whole, we tend to be a more mature bunch
