I just started playing about 3 months ago. I am very happy with the abundance of solo content and group oriented content. Basically, there is always something worthwhile to do. Finding a group has never been a chronic problem. Granted, there are times when it is a little bit difficult to get a group, but like I said, there is plenty of stuff to do to keep you occupied in the mean-time. I have yet to actually start a tradeskill because I haven't had the time to do it; I've been too busy with quests and leveling (and the quests give you most of your experience for leveling). There is very little grinding in this game.
In other games a typical conversation goes like this:
"Whatcha doin?"
"Just grinding, you?"
"Same...grinding"
"I'm bored..."
"Yeah, me too"
In EQ2, it goes like this:
"Whatcha doin?"
"Working on my [Insert quest name] quest, you?"
"Cool I haven't done that one yet, mind if I join ya?"
"Sure, come on over"
"Wanna gather a group for [Insert instance name here] after this?"
"Yeah, sounds fun!"
"Have you started your [Insert Heritage quest here] HQ yet?"
"Not yet, been busy working on [Insert other HQ]"
"Cool, I did that one last week, the last part can be a bit tricky, lemme know if you need a hand."
"Cool, thanks"
