Katreena, I wouldn't be too concerned If I was in your situation. The AP's come pretty quick if you quest and explore as you level. I do understand the the concern, and I actually made the decision to turn off combat xp's on more than one occasion. Catch that...you can turn off the combat xp's not the entire adventure xp system (someone correct me if this is wrong). So if you turn off your combat xp's and run around and finish off quests...you will get AP and Adventure xp's for finishing the quests.
I'm lvl 58 now, and leveling slowly. I have 48 AP's and I'm trying to increase that number so that I don't hit the lvl70 wall at full speed. So occasionally, I will turn off the combat xp's, so that I don't lvl too quickly. Granted, SOE added 50 points to the system after I was already lvl 45 or so, so I had a bit of catch up that was beyond my control.
I spend allot of time harvesting...harvesting in the tier above my adventure lvl. With that in mind, I have found that my adventure lvling gets out of whack with the AP's. Lots of xp's for killing white and yellow mobs that aren't associated with a particular quest while I'm searching for the harvest nodes. I typically turn off the xp's when I harvest now-a-days.
There are so many choices that you can make for progressing your character, turning off the combat xp's is just a tool that can be used to slow it all down a bit so that things don't get completely out of whack.
