Hello, I am sorry to keep bothering the board but Sony's Forums are really not that great. Plus.. I cant even start a new thread and I have been a "Station Member" since 2004 or something.
The question concerns me installing and playing Vanguard. I realize that this is a EQ2 board, but I figure it might involve the same problems that I am having if a person who had a Station name was trying to start EQ2.
I was planning on restarting EQ2 this weekend, but I havent restarted the subscription yet. So as of 2 hours ago I didnt have my Station name linked to any "active" games.
I installed Vanguard (which is brand new and I have never played it before) and was going to try it out for free for 30 days before making a decision about paying monthly for it through the Station Access.
When it got to the New or Existing Station Account input screen, I put in my Station name (which was still not linked to any active game), and it started asking me for my CC#... which is fine and all because I know how the companies just like to have your CC# in their system in case you decide to play longer.
It then went to the Enter CD Key screen. After I entered that it went through the other first-time screens and started updating the client and game.
At no point did it notify me that I have a free month to try it out, so I am guessing since I entered my old Station Access it wont give me the free month?
The line on the box (which I read after I already used the old name) says, "30 day subscription included for new accounts only (excludes existing Vanguard: SoH and Station Access Accounts)."
Now maybe this is where someone can answer my question...
Did I have a Station Access account even if I didnt have any games active?
I thought you only had a Station Access account if you subscribed to the thing where you could play any Sony online game for $29.99/month.
I actually looked on the My Subscriptions page to see if it would say the Vanguard month was free, but I didnt see the "free" text anywhere.
I would like the free month but if I am going to get charged $14.99 for this first month I might as well just upgrade to Station Access so I can play EQ2 this weekend, but I dont want to upgrade quite yet if I am actually getting the Vanguard month for free (which I would still have to pay the $14.99 for EQ2 when I started it up again).
Once again... I am sorry I posted on the EQ2 forums here on Alla, but you EQ2ers are so nice and helpful.
