In the end, is it worth doing? Are the items really that cool? I already have a transmuter. Would love to hear from others before I take on yet *another* task. I'm leveling pretty slow as it is, already!
been offline for awhile or i would have responded to this sooner. in case your question hasnt been answered, i find tinkering pretty useful. theres not alot of items that are real popular but i think this is two causes. one, ALOT of the stuff is tinker only. two, it seems the general community (on befallen anyway) is still pretty in the dark about tinker stuffs.
some examples, the gnomish spring boots are fairly common for folks that know them. usually as soon as im seen with them or someone starts up a conversation about them, then i get asked to make a few pairs. my absolutely most popular item is my mendor bot. despite that it says 1 charge, its a constant item and is never used up. ive brought it up in groups several times, and its a constant companion for our raids. each time after i explain the details of it i get comments about folks that are seriously considering making a tinker just for the bot. ive had alot of folks asking for the portable crafting stations and the harvesting tools. and my feign death tool is awesome. and other simple items have their uses, like the eb item to be used for getting your swimming caught up, etc.
all told, there is more stuff that you'll end up vendoring than selling as you level, but if you avoid making it a serious grind it doesnt hurt bad. and once gu33 hits, you wont have to spend nearly as long foraging.
however tinkers mainly come into play when they are secondary to an adventure class. using them as a straight crafter i dont see a whole lot of worth. so if its a straight crafter, then i would say take your time with it. you can get some benefit, but the cost return is slow. 95% of my sales are broker or guildies, and on befallen, the price isnt great profit margin.
if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM or contact me in game and i'll do my best to help you.
