Since I didn't ever play EQ1, I don't know how THAT PoF was, but man that portal looks cool
Plane of Fear lived up to its name. You literally groaned and started to sweat as your raid party was zoning in. In EQ1, something we wont have to deal with, you would die and end up wherever you bound yourself, naked. Youd have to run back and drag your body and loot it. These were called corpse runs. The problem with POF was that everyone would die many many times just ZONING IN due to the long range aggro of the mobs, making the corpse runs last for (in some cases literally) hours.
Then you had some really hard names, that required a lot of strategy to take down, and patience. (EQ1 pics but just for reference)
Dread ,
Fright , and
Terror were in essence, the three body guards of the god Cazic Thule. Also you had to deal with the
Dracoliche a skeleton dragon, and most feared of all before the God himself, the
Ire Blind Imp. All of these were raid targets in one, not very big zone. Also, before you could even think about taking on
Cazic Thule himself, absolutely everything in the zone had to be killed. Everything. Because if you missed even one little mob, when fighting CT, he would summon them to help him out. And even the smallest mob in the zone was a pain in the ***. It was geared for the lvl 50's, but even in the 60's and close to 70, the zone was tough. It was one of those rare zones where no matter how high you got, you still had to use your mind and use your mind to conquer the zone. And you needed lots and lots of friends to help you out. =)
