Yeah, I read the FAQ. These shouldn't be reposts.
I admit it, I'm interested. I'm getting seriously burnt out on WoW, and I need something new.
However, I definetely cannot pay for two MMOs at once, and I think it's time to make a decision. I've got a few questions about EQ2, which will probably influence whether or not I join.
I feel ya there, I got burnt out on WoW awhile back and went back to FFXI... got burned out on that and tried out EQ2.

Are all the classes generally accepted into groups? I played a DRK in FFXI, which was nightmarish (no pun intended) when getting into groups. Is there a class that is more solo-focused?
The nice thing about EQ2 is how they handle classes actually. All have a place in groups really. There are a few more group oriented then others (hard to solo) but I don't know of any more solo-oriented classes. All classes can solo, (some harder then others like I said above)
The classes are set-up into 4 arch-types, and each class can do the job of their arch-type in a party. They are:
Fighter: Tanks
Priests: Healers
Mages: Magical DPS/CC
Scouts: Melee DPS/Support*/Limited CC
*bards fall into the scout catagory and will either cripple the mob and damage it with songs while SLIGHTLY buffing the group, or help buff the group and damage the mob with meelee rather then songs (Dirge vs Troub)
All the scouts will be able to do dps decently, all the fighters can tank, all priests can heal, all mages will get magical dps... it just varries from class to class how it is done (like Monk is a "blink-tank" in a sense because they focus on avoiding hits) but each CAN do it.

Is it possible to purchase and download the game online? I've heard Bodhi say something about this, and it would make my life a lot easier if I could go about it that way. Which expansions do the game come bundled with nowadays? How much is the monthly fee, and does it cost anything extra to have more than one character?
While you can download and buy online, I would NOT recomend it because you will end up paying MORE for the game. The reason is the online downloads don't have the second expansion, Kingdom of Sky, included in it like you can get in a store. I HIGHLY recomend getting the bundle, it is 30 bucks (vs 20 for the base game) and includes the base game. You can use this expansion as early as 10ish, but it's real good point starts at 20, and that is the achievment system. Think modified talent system.
You get 6 chars per account, or you can "upgrade" to a station account (which gives some other bonuses like other MMOs I believe) for like 21 bucks a month (vs the same pricing plan as WoW has with the whole 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, and 1year which WoW doesn't have) and get 10 chars.

How does player housing work? Is it like FFXI, where you initially have a house that you place furniture in? Or is it more like a house that you can actually see from the outside, that's really placed into the game world? Can the size be upgraded?
The housing in game starts you out with a little 1-room inn room in which you can place furnishings and such. You can move up to a 5-room two story house as max. The entrances to housing is actually doors that are phsyically in the game world. You can get housing in places like the upper floor of a tavern and you'll actually have to go upstairs in that tavern to get into it. You do have to be in higher level guilds (yes, guilds have leveles) to get the better housing, though you can buy a 2-room w/o being in a guild, but that is the only other I know of besides the "starting" 1-room. You do have to pay rent on the rooms though, and for the 5room house this can be a sizable chunk per week. You aso get more slots to sell things on the broker (ah) with a bigger house. In order to sell on the AH now you have to place a bag/box into a slot (1 w/o housing, 2 with a 1 room, 3 with a 2 room, ect) and then place items into that. Boxes can go pretty large, like 30ish slots! Bags don't go as large, but in general you use bags for your normal carrying (they are lighter) and boxes for broker/vaults.

Finally, what is the max level, how long (for the average player) does it take to reach it, and what is the end-game like?
Right now the max level is 70, and as for how long it will take I couldn't say because i'm only 37. There are some levels that seem to fly by (i've heard the 50-60 stretch flies by, and i've been in my 30s for maybe a week vs the 3 or so to get to them... though I did take a break from that char) and some that seem to drag on (like my 20s). I've been playing about a month and a half. However, I wouldn't call my playtime average by any stretch of the immagination. I have a LOT of time to play the game. I rarely have a high amount of "vitatlity" (think modified rested exp bonus lol) since I play so much. It does build up a lot quicker then in WoW, and I think i've even had it build up in a BIG chunk just running around not killing things. If you build up large amounts every now and then by being offline for a day or two I immagine that would really help with the leveling.
