The second least played class is Brigand, the evil only rogue. I've never heard any complaints about that class.
I play a Brig and let me say that I love it. We are really high damage, have many fun little abilities, and have decent staying power for mobs that turn their attention to us.
I don't know why we would be a low played class, i'd have to mess around with the other scout archtypes to see how they compare at a low level, but maybe it is like you said, fewer people play evil, though that seems to be a common thing in any game with "good and evil" sides.
Maybe a reason Brigs aren't played much is we are so high damage we can't live up to full potentional in a group because of hate. I'm not sure if these are scout abilities or brigand, but some of the more nifty (high damage) ones we get are:
(Names may be off since often spells get more powerful with different names but have same icon and effects, damage is also just off the top of my head and is rough amounts)
Flurry, at my level (24) and having gotten Master 1 level, this is a two-fold attack that deals like 70-90 damage each hit (off the top of my head) though if the first misses the second wont hit.
At 26 there is a book I have my eye on (want to wait for then in case I learn it naturally) that is an upgraded Flurry that deals like 110-130 or so damage each hit like flurry.
Black Jack, stuns target for 5 seconds and deals something like 160-200 damage at the same time.
Rake, have to be behind target but like 200+ damage.
Pretty much all of my combat abilities deal like close to 100 damage right now. I can take down a mob a level or 2 higher then me in like 20 seconds or so if all my timers are up.
Besides those, we have some nifty things that change hate around and put us in stealth, we also have one (i'm not sure how it works for sure though so this is just a guess) called Ruse that decreases our threat, def, attack, ect... We fall over "dead" but when the mob takes a melee hit (or we do, not sure like I said) we pop up and deal like 200 damage or something.
So, maybe because we are too high damage? I don't know, i'm really loving it personally and that news is interesting to me.
As for tradeskilling, it does seem to be that prices for any crafted goods are high right now (higher then quest rewards and dropped items and such, and the market is leaning towards an alt's market atm imo so that explains it a little), but I seem to have the most problems finding things like rings and such personally. Though I do have quest rewards that are pretty good so I really should say that have decent stats for me.
