This isn't a flame EQ2 thread, I have to say, it's a really good game. The thing that really irked me about it was the skill systems and how you upgraded them.
In EQ1 and WoW, you gain a certain level and just talk to your trainer, pay some cash that increased as you levelled. You'd buy scrolls in EQ1, but they were always available, just had to find them.
In EQ2 you have to rely on drops or player crafted scrolls or books to update spells or skills.
As a Necro and I can't vouch for other classes, I found it very hard to find scrolls on the brokers or even via drops. I'd get scrolls for every other class, try to sell them, but I didn't make much. If you do find one on the brokers, high level players want and arm and a leg for it, who the heck has 10 plat at level 20? I spoke with a crafter, she said she'd make it, but I'd have to farm some rare incredients from rocks and herb spawns. This took hours. Some skills you do upgrade get replaced later and it was a waste to update them in the first place.
I just wish there was a better way to upgrade spells.
