When EQ2 first came out, I was a die-hard Ultima online player. Old school I know.. the original MMPORPG, the daddy of it all. When I saw the advertisements for this, I knew I had to try it out.. It looked amazing. And sure enough, the beautiful graphics enveloped me and I was a full-on hooked convert... poof went the UO subscription. Right away, I missed a lot of things about Ultima, but the sheer beauty of EQ2 blinded me. The sad thing is, in the past year the novelty has worn off, and what is left is a very boring game. No houses to build, no real player made world, just an SOE made world devoid of any personality and nothing to do but XP. Soooo, back to UO I went. Now that is ruined too.. I got spoiled on the graphics of EQ2, and it has made UO feel flat, hard to get excited over. Why can't we have both.. great gameplay that allows a world to evolve and shape itself around its players, right down to the landscape by homes built, endless combinations of skills to make each player unique, but enjoy the eye candy and realism that technology offers? Whyyyy? Now Im stuck flipping between the two, not enjoying either. I spose I'll blow a few bucks and try another that sounds interesting. But I know what I want,UO with better graphics,or, EQ2 with more freedom and sadly, I dont think that will ever happen *sigh*
