My guild has a competition running so we can level the guild to 30. It's very cool the way they set it up. http://norrathwanderers.everquest2guilds.com/en/index.vm

Read about it and you will see what I mean. Maybe it's not something new and possibly it's a borrowed idea but I have gotten into it.

Currently we are lvl 26 so the the 20 to 29 members are working to gain status points and to level the guild to 27. I 2-box so I have been playing my monk and my mystic. They started out at 19 and 20 and are now both lvl 26. I have done numerous writs and I am having a blast. I decided to take a break and finish up some Blackburrow quests before they were all totally grey to me and before starting some serious HQ's.

I needed one more diviner and the only one I could find was in one of those 3-back rooms. There was a whole mob of gnolls and and they were greeen aggro. There was a named in the bunch but my monk and mystic make an awesome team and I knew I could take the lot of them. After the last corpse hit the floor the loot chest appears. I open the chest and what's this? The chest window had a scroll bar. I scroll down to see all of the loot. There was 1 ring, 1 spear, 3 adepts, and 1 master. I thought surely this was a very rare loot drop.

A little while latter I need some tacticians and end up with a similar scenario and loot drop. This time it's a hammer, a bracelet, 3 different adepts, and 1 master that my Mystic doesn't have. Woot!

Again, a little while later I needed yet something else and end up with a wash, rinse, and repeat.

I almost went back a fourth time but thought that would simply be greedy of me, not to mention I was running late for work. I don't know if that' the normal for the named mobs but it was very nice. The whole of Blackburrow is now gray to me so I can't go and check this out again.

My mains are approaching 50 so it's been a lot of fun bringing up these two younglings. I started them before the new Outposts but then never played them. I was able to take them through the new newb zones and had a blast. My play methods with the younglings is so much different then what it is with my mains. I know what quests I really want to do and which ones I want to pass up.

My mains go for each and every quest that comes along because I like being one of the highest in quests in the guild. My younglings aren't that way though. They can pick and chose and toss out whatever they want.

Maybe I am nuts but each one of my toons has their own personality. Kirstin, the mystic, is a high elf scholar who makes loads of gold and her apartment shows it. She is a prissy thing and pure lady. Woodiva is a carpenter half elf who is real rough around the edges is constantly gesturing at NPCs and her apartment is oveflowing with rejects of her skill. Raeebe is my mage provisioner who's love is for the kitties, the 7ft kitties, she is bookish and constantly looking for a new receipe or legend to study. Temperra, well that's my Dark Elf who changed her allegiance to Antonia in her young days and has never looked back. She has a temper, like her name implies, and mischief in her heart.

I guess to me the game is so much about the roleplaying and questing. It's about the not know what's around the next corner. Numerous times I have walked around a corner to be jumped upon by some mob and physically jumped in my chair. The game is about the friends and family you meet and make, the bonds, and the teamwork. It's about the figuring out how to accomplish something after the 6th death. It's about being nice to newbs and answering their umpteenth question on what's the difference between this game and that game. It's about good and the bad and the ugly (no trolls). It's about having fun, relaxing, and immersing yourself in "our world." It's Everquest. Thanks Sony. I appreciate what you have done.

When I took down the Captain in Blackburrow for the quest alongside another monk, I had the exact same thing happen. 3 adepts, one master and a weapon. It most likely wasn't the same mob as you took down, you must have taken on the tougher room (with at least double the amount of mobs), but the reward was the same. Great loot, a shame I levelled shortly after that and it all turned grey Smiley: smile

As for the rest, I'll agree with OldBlueDragon, very well put!
