I'm at work with very little time so I'll make this short-n-sweet. I didn't have much tread reading time either so I appologize for any repeat Qs;

A) How is the server stability with EQ2 & Tech support?

I went from FFXI (2 years) and loved it (awesome servers performance also), but it was time for a change. To WOW, which I also enjoy, but the servers are very unstable. They have lots of unplaned downtime during peak hours (even on a very low population server) & give no answers or details why. I don't enjoy the constant nights of TV because I can't play, but will put-up with it if that's just the way it is with these games.

B) In EQ2, how far can a group of 2 go with quests/levels?

C) How far can a group of 3 go?

My wife & brother will follow my lead to any MMO, so we generaly stay as a "head setted" group and enjoy it very much. Those questions are based on if we need to still search for larger groups to get the majority of the quests completed.

The biggest question is for server stability... if needed I can read the forums and determin what the game is like on a duo-solo-group stand point. Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you in advance.

A. Its not as good as FFXI or as bad as WoW as far as stability and tech support. Theres sometimes some unplanned downtime of certain things (like the broker) but not very often. I'd say somewhere in the middle.

B and C. All the way on the level part and with a group of 3 you can do most quests in the game, except for Heritage Quests and such, for those you need larger groups and sometimes raids. If you plan on basicaly staticing with just you there make sure to get a good setup of tank, healer, DD. I personaly like Zerker, Temp/Inquis and Brig/Swash. I trio'd that with a few friends for a whiule and it seems to work realy well.

Another good combo is Pal/SK, Warden/Fury and Ranger/Assassain.

Oh and you couldalso do Guard, Warden/fury and wizzy/warlok. The damage of the warden and wizzy makes up for the guards lack.

IMHO, server stability has never been a problem. The servers are new (just over a year old now), and are well maintained. The company does regular server updates, to push patches and hot fixes, usually at around 7 in the morning Pacific time. These usually last less than a half hour. when there is a major patch like a live update or a new expansion, the servers come down at 7 AM and the update takes 4 hours plus.

Duos and trios, (what SOE refers to as "small groups"), work very well in EQ2. I have a regular duo partner and also a couple of friends from work that I trio with and as long as you hold to the holy trinity of healer/DPS/tank for the trio and healer/anything for the duo, you'll do just fine.

In fact, my trio buddies have duoed from time to time with tank/DPS and that has worked fine as well... They've had to be a bit more careful in mob selection but other than that, they both remain standing!

Server Stability seems to be fine. I have never had to wait ina que or anything like that to play. That was the main reason I decided against WOW, no way I am going to pay a monthly fee and then have to wait in line just to log in, that is BS.

Im not sure about recent times as I am usually sleeping or at work in the morning, but used to they brought the servers down every day. SOmetime during the morning (around 7:00amish EST) they bring them down for 1 hour or so.

Customer Service wise I would rate eq2, or any SOE game for that matter, as horrible. Anytime you ask them a question they give you some BS answer that half the time has nothing to do with your question. Anytime you petition a GM and ask for help you can expect a day or more to get a answer. I have been told alot of the GM's are now from foreign countries and they only know how to cut and copy a premade (canned) answer for anything you ask them. I seriously doubt some of them even know anything about the game.

A two person group can work pretty well, take the advice of the posters above. A group of 3 could do quite a few things. In fact just solo you can do quit a few quests. I have heard alot of peopel talk about all quests 30+ require a group, but that is simply not true anymore. Alot of the mobs that used to be heroic for these quests are now in solo groups and can generally be soloed, or at max duoed. Now if you get into Heritage quests you will need help, but there is plenty of quests you can do solo. I am 54 now and I have a whole journal full of solo quests I can work on. As a 3 person group though you can probably do most quests. Tank, Healer, DPS and you are set.
