A rant on ^^^ mobsFollow

#1 Feb 11 2006 at 11:28 PM Rating: Decent
So i have a writ that takes me to Crypt of Betrayal. I am a lvl 31 pally and the quest mobs are lvl 22^^^ some single but mostly grouped. Here's the situation: I spent 20 gold to upgrade my armor and spells as much as possible, and i can barely take the lvl 22 mobs that are single. The duo'd ones own me and sometimes there are lvl 23^^^ mobs that also own me. In one lvl i think the 22 mobs are going to grey out to me because alot of CoB already has. My problem with this is that there is hardly anyone in CoB on my server (najena) so getting help is not gonna happen. I hate to ask a guildee to drop what they are doing so they can mentor down and come help me kill a few mobs. So i guess my point is this - Why in the blue hell did SOE make 80% of the mobs in the game ^^^ ? What was wrong with some no arrows, some 1 arrow , some two arrows, and some three. Why would you take a "casual friendly" game and force people to find a group when maybe they dont have the time or dont feel like it?? I think this is a situation better suited to eq1, which if i had time for sitting around lfg and only played to be a hardcore raider i would still be playing.
What are your opinions on most all the mobs being turned into ^^^ heroic?? And your opinions on a casual game basically forcing people to group. And yes i realize i have one long
run-on sentence but i spend enough time in school and i dont feel like worrying about it right now.

Sounds like you're trying to do a group writ by yourself. We're not supposed to be able to solo heroics.

Just work out which are the solo writs and change it Smiley: smile

There's plenty of solo mobs around.

Between lvl 25 and 29 about all writs involve heroic crap in either ROV or COB. Bad thing is COB never did seem to be a very popular zone, and why should it being its a pain to get to and its very mazey and boreing. I personally hate all the mazey sewer zones of qeynos/

My suggest is to delete it and get a lvl 30 writ which is back to being solo. If im not mistaken about half the writs you get at 30 are heroic mobs and half are solo.

I also hate how they converted ^^ mobs into ^^^. I think it is a big reason why as a tank I can't get into a group until the mobs are blue and green. I see alot of groups shouting for a extra healer because of how much dps ^^^ mobs have. Its really BS.

I completely agree with Fronglo here, just delete it, especially if you are level 31. Usually the ones prior to the 5's (15, 25, etc.) are soloable, and the ones after the 5's are heroics.

I use this list when trying to decide which writ to take (it's not updated with the DoF writs) but it does list both Qeynos and Freeport and has all the old world ones.

Hope that helps.

Pretty much everything in dungeons was changed to heroic recently, if there are any writs available in overland areas, take them instead. You can delete a writ after you accept it and then imediately get another.

It may not be of any comfort to you now, but the solo writs for level 45+ in the Sinking Sands area are a real improvement over the previuos tiers. They're specifically set up to solo, and some of them even involve collecting objects that spawn on the ground rather than killing stuff. You can also get 4 writs in the same general area (like the Eye of Annuk) and speed throught them all at once.

Also, I believe the next update is going to let you select writs from a list, which will make getting the ones you want much easier.

If you are anything like me you won't like deleting any quests and especially an HQ. I have spent many many hours in CoB and pretty well learned my way around. Eventually.

Don't be afraid to ask guildies for help. That's what being in a guild is all about. It's also a good way to get to know those guildies. I bet that there is someone out there just wandering around waiting to assist anyone who asks. So ask.

With the changes made to the mentoring system it's now easier then ever to mentor down.
