does race really matter ? end-game play.Follow

#1 Jan 08 2006 at 5:08 PM Rating: Default
just wondering now that the endgame has been played for months now. does anyone see a real advantage being 1 race or another for any particular class?

ex...Ogre was pretty much everyones quess for fighter, and so forth.but from what i can tell from the eq2 site there are a ton of dark elves, wood elves, and other races also as fighters.
is it more or less like eq1. where at the highend it really doesnt matter what "race" you are. it was the person at the keyboard and the equipment you had.

just looking for a few opinions from the higher end people here.

You can be anything you like for any class, it's all just eye candy in the end Smiley: smile

This game is very different from EQ1 in that regard.

Barbarians in robes do look rather suss though Smiley: lol

There are a few skills you gain based on your race, but none of them really seem to make or break you. For instance frogloks get a 3 minute endureing breath skill. I think Dark Elves get a short duration invis spell. Also various races get various crafting bonus skills, however most of them are not really big bonus rewards.

All in all Id just pick whatever race you want. Barbarian casters do look kinda odd as do Ogres, but hey whatever works. If you really want to look unique make a race that can only be made in 1 city and betray. Not very many Froglok Shadowknights in the game :p

I have seen people in game pick a large race tank over a small race tank if both tanks are the same level (IE 2 level 30 guardians LFG they tend to take the BArbarian over a high elf). OF course that High Elf probably has all rare imbued armor and the barbarian hasn't upgraded armor in 10 levels, but hey he is a large race :p
