Not an Inq, but when I check for a spell line upgrade, what I always do is to look at the description of the spell and find one that compares - that is to say, uses the same wording as the new spell. Here is what I found for one of yours:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Cleric 17 Greater Smite - Deals instant divine damage to target enemy and pacifies them, preventing them attacking in combat for a short duration as long as they don't receive additional damage
Inquisitor 31 Cruel Invocation - Deals instant divine damage to target enemy and stifles them, preventing them from casting spells or combat arts for a short duration as long as they don't receive additional damage
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also remember that in order to complete an HO, you don't always have to have a specific spell... you just need to have one that has the correct wheel icon. I don't mean the hotbar/spellbook icon here... I am referring to the small green icon that is located in the examine window of the spell itself.
There are a bunch of these and they are broken down into "families" or groups. These include coin, hammer, lightning bolt, eye, cup, etc. When you are in an HO chain, there will be an icon showing on the wheel that will tell you what kind of spell you need to advance or complete the HO.
There is a list of your spells with corosponding icons and wheel icons
HERE One additional tip on identifying spell line upgrades... if you suspect that a spell is an upgrade of another but aren't sure, put them both on a hotbar and cast one. if they are in the same line, they will share the same recast timer and when one is cast, they will both gray out.
