Put simply, the People.
I've thought of quiting MMO's in general several times and just sticking to less addicting regular Rpg's but I can never last more then 2 weeks.
To me the whole point of an MMO is interaction and making new friends, best way I can realy describe how I feel is with a story (short one this time I promise
).
In late march of this year my crusader was just reaching level 19 and I was looking for a group in antonica. Someone shouts about a group forming to kill highwaymen and since I got nothing better to do I offer to help, the group is me, a level 18 halfling druid named loam, a level 19 half elf bard named Selgaunt and a level 21 dark elf scouty type.
We decide to do Guard of Motte quest since we are killing highwaymen anyway. We get the quest finishd and the DE has to leave so its just me loam and selgaunt left. I say something about lord grimrot's sycthe and dwarven cleansing and tell them how cool the weps are. The say sure and we take off for the claymore, along the way loam asks if his good friend twylite, a level 18 wood elf predator, could join. I, of course, say of course and she joins us.
We start the quest and it takes us forever to get the scythe peices to drop but we are ******** around and having fun nevertheless, and I notice they are all unguilded so I invite them to join the greatest guild on the planet, Hierarchy of Equality. They all say yes so now we look all cool runnign around in our guild tags together and we finaly finish grimrot's sycthe, we knock out dwarven cleansing fast due to my expert knowledge and Twy's sneakyness., but its getting late so we say goodnight thinking I just got some cool new guildies.
The next day I go and buy my pally horse since I dinged 20 during Dwarven cleansing and then Loam and twlite log in and we deicde to get a nek group going, we form the group and head over to the beach and bust on some pirates and we have a blast. We make plans to start AQ1 next weekend cause we are all level 20 now. In the next 2 weekends we get aq1-6 and level 20-26. Over the course of the next couple months we knock out 3 heritages and level 27-35 and become the best of friends, we officialy call it a static and none of us level w/o the others.
Me and loam spend weeks camping SH for the SoT and never get it, but become best friends in the process. Me and twy create evil alts, a zerker and a inquis, to play when loams not on and our characters get Rp married. In short these guys are some of the best friends and allies I have ever had.
One weekend loam doesn't log on so me and twy play our evil alts. One week becomes 2, then a month, then 2 months and no sign of loamy. My guild trys to get me to level my pally with them but he sits stoicly at level 35 for the day when shortstack returns. Slowly twy begans to spend all of her time on other alts and she finaly decides to delet Twylite. I contemplate deleting Tarudor and can't do it.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I'm leveling my monk when i see a little yellow message pop up:
"Friend: Loam has logged on"
I damn near break my keyboard franticly typing my welcome back message to one of my best friends ever. We talk for a bit and iIlearn that he was forced into taking a hiatus because his comp blew up and he had to get it repaired but the guys ****** somethign else up and it took even longer.
He finaly asks me what level Tarudor is now and I reply:
"He's still 35, I knew you'd be back shortstack"
Loam's quiet for about 5 minutes and then he says:
"Thanks"
And that folks is why I keep playing, since hes been back me and loam have duo'd up to 37 and have done most of splitpaw.
I can't think of a reason I would have to keep playing if it wasn't for my friends.
So here's to friendship
