So I'm just ******** around in Splitpaw after first making my way to the den. Do the solo arena, get owned by the champion. Repeat 3 or 4 times cause I'm stubborn and can't get it through my thick barbarian skull that I ain't gonan kill him. Finaly figure out that I'm not actualy gonna kill him w/o a change of strategy and some new equip. But since I don't have my Teleshard yet I realy don't wanna call back to qeynos to get an imbued BP or some power potions, so I decide to sit and listen to the storyteller's story that I've been hearing bits and peices of running around in there.
So I'm sitting there hearing the story of this gnoll dude who like fell in some caves and started getting pokeded by the giant shrooms and since nobody likes getting ****** with by shrooms he understandly goes pyscho and sluaghters like all of the shrooms and then falls asleep.
Well see I thought it was just a cool story to hear but lookie there! The storyteller offers me a quest for sitting through the story! Its a solo one to! Might as well do it since I ain't going nowhere til I get my teleshard anyway.
So I zone into the temple of harclave and start busting on some gnolls, the qest journal says to let these fire thingys but I can't figure out how to do it so I just slaughter some gnolls figuring I'll discover some torch or something later. 4 gnolls 2 levels higher then me gang up and start whooping me so I try to run and don't get far. First death. Go and sit through the story again to get the quest and zone back in to try again.
Ok managed to pull the gnolls seperatly but got aggro from ANOTHER spawn and fell to the bottom of the cave while trying to run away. Death number 2. Listen to the storyteller repeat the now not so cool anymore story and then try again.
Ok manage to kill every gnoll in the area I can access, still no torch. So I finaly ask my guild and about 8 people tell me its right next the the entrance and that I walked past it 3 times already. So I head back and being the surefooted, nimble barbarian guy I am, I fall of the board. Again. Death number 3.
So I go back and sit down and listen to the now incredably annoying storyteller tell the horrible annoying gnoll story again.
Zone in, grab the torch and fight my way through the gnolls lighting all the fires along the way. Stack up the boxes at the end and light the last 2 fires near the Arc of Harclave. Once I light them I'm able to click the arc and receive "Spirit of Harclave" a buff with a unlimited timer that the description reads
"Grants you the strength of Harclave and allows you to perform feats unheard of by mortals." I check my HP and Its over 4k what it was before I got the buff!
My quest journal now tells me to go kill the shroom king that has taken up residence in the temple. I saw some shrooms across the cavern earlier but they were heroic so I stayed the hell away from them, but now I figure I should go check it out. I build me a little board bridge across the chasm and prepare to cross hoping I wont fall again, but lo and behold I start to slip.
As I fall I get the mouse ready to hit the revive button so I can go and listen to the damn story AGAIN when hit the ground and see my hp bar still in the yellow!
So I proceed to ride the magic elevator back up and jump off the boards again and again and again. I had to prove to the ground how much more uberer then it I was! So after about 30 minutes or so I finaly decide that the ground knows whoes boss and walk across the boards to the shrooms.
I then proceed to slaughter the group of yellow heroic like they were green solos! Cackling with glee I weave a path of destruction through the hordes of shrooms and finally I spot him over the rotting bodies of his fallen comrades. As I slash my way through the last shrooms I slap a ranged DoT on the king. Toe to Toe we stand, slugging it out. And I'm destroying him, not even going into the yellow. As he dies I hear magical ding of a quest update as well as the cha-ching of a chest drop. I breathe a sigh of relief thinking the quest, as fun as it is, is over as I look to my quest journal.
"Kill the gnoll that stole your throne." Wtf!?! I thought it was over! <sigh> Back to work I suppose. I open the chest to find a leather arm peice thats no good for a pally but perfect for my druidy duo partner.
I pick up my axe and begin the mass genocide of the undead gnolls barring my way to the gnolly king. Swinging my axe and and watching all foes fall before me makes me feel like a level 5 twinked warrior with temp and a Druid Pl slaugtering the orcs in crushbone again, ahhh the good old days.
After 30 or 40 minutes of rekilling masses of udead gnolls I finaly reach the orange heroic undead gnoll king.
"Eat cold Qeynosian steel you canine son of *****, that throne is MINE!" I yell as I start the battle (hey its an instance, whoes gonna complain?)
I stand toe to toe fighting the gnoll just as I fought the shroom king earlier and I see his health start to drop slightly more slowly then the shrooms but still fast. As his HP enters the red and his power is almost out he begins to cast something.
Its a debuff.
I scream with rage as my Hp returns to its pre-god buff levels and I lose my uber hp and power regen as well as the damage shield. But I don't give up, I go all out on this ************ wailing away with every power I have left but its not enough, suddenly my Hp gets a boost and its just enough to allow me to finish the job on his gnollish ***.
"Lay on Hands ************! Only spell I need!" I say As I kick the pile of bones and step over his redead body.
I plop into my rightfuly deserved throne and am instantly teleported back the to the Den. My adventure in the Temple of Harclave finished, For now at least.
Hope you enjoyed the story, I had to do something while the servers were down. Part of it was embellshed, like the the debuff. I had to make the ending cool. In reality I raped him just as easily as the shroom king but that would have been anti-climactic . You realy do get an uber buff and you realy do get to go and slaughter heroics. If you don't already have it I suggest you buy splitpaw, its well worth it for anyone level 20+, not just for harclave but for everything in it. Ok peeps, I'm out for the night.
