Really good point there. We are all playing "blind" in that you don't really know anything about the person behind the toon and so your first impression of that toon is all you have to go on. The name tag may well be the only detail you have when deciding whether or not you want to group with that person.
And although to me, names like "Moonglow" and "Swiftwing" show only a minimal level of creativity, they are infinately more clever than <insert lame 14 year old's pun here>
I also agree that plagerizing the name of whichever film/book character is currently popular shows a general lack of creative thought process.
I mean really, now... do you want someone who named their toon "Leggoolliiss" to be the person responsible for determining raid strategy when you go up against a major boss mob?
Back in EQ, I played a ranger named Moriarty. The name often drew interest and comment from strangers. Personally, I liked the dicotomy of a lawful good character burdened with a name that embodied the classic concept of evil. My guildies nicknamed him "Morty", go figure!
