I didn't start the Betrayal Quest this weekend like I had planned, just so much other stuff to do that is time consuming. I'm trying to wrap up all of my quests while I still can, while keeping an eye on my XP and level. I think I was just under 15 last night when I logged off. It can be a little frustrating though, because it seems that just as I finish up some quests, I find more to do.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I love doing quests. It beats just going out killing things to level up, the frustration is entirely self imposed. From the beginning I set out to accomplish as many quests as I could, but the excitment and challenge of the Betrayal Quest and the imposing level cap (17) make me anxious to "get on with it" so to speak. I don't know if I will be able to do Freeport quests as a Qeynosian, I considered it unlikely, so...
The other thing I worked on all weekend was harvesting and tradeskilling. I made some strongboxes for my bank, a couple of backpacks, some Apprentice III combat arts, and some yummy foods and drinks. I really like tradeskilling a lot and right now the only thing holding me back (besides time) in
that regards is storage space! All of my harvestables are taking up the storage space in my bank and on my character. My skill isn't high enough to create the big slotted or weight reduction items, but you can be sure, getting there is high on my list. I'm glad I chose Outfitter as my subclass, because I will get an opportunity to make those invaluable items.
My time as a tradeskiller is divided though, because I have noticed most significantly now, how substandard my equipment is. This is very bad for a fighter class, especially when I am beginning to have problems with single encounter blue conned enemies. I am
still using my Freeport Citizenship Sword at (almost) level 15. Pathetic, I know. It's so easy though, to gain experience and levels while questing, plus acquiring good weapons and armor is expensive, no matter what anybody says. As soon as I get the time and the space (I need to make more backpacks and strong boxes first) I will start focusing on some hardcore weapon and armorsmithing. It is one of the main reasons I went Outfitter in the first place, so I could make my own gear.
I do have to say though, that cooking is really fun, and if/when I create another character, I will definitely go that route. I've been cooking up a lot of food and drink so I have a decent stockpile before I am kicked out of the city and I start my long expidition.
JACKPOT! Last night shortly before I logged off, I found an Adept I spell,
Ensnare in an enemy dropped chest. These spells (Adept I) on my server range from 15gp to 60gp. I set the price at 19gp before I went to bed, but so far no takers. I've considered dropping it as low as 15gp or 10gp, but only after a little time (but not too long). I am fully conscious of the posts in this forum about the high pricing of tradeskill items and I certainly want to give a fair price, both ways. I believe in creating a win/win situation where an item is still priced high enough for the seller to make a decent profit, but low enough to be accesible to those who need it. What are Adapt I spells going for on your server and what do you think a fair price is?
Concerning tradeskill costs though, I can certainly understand and justify other players wanting to price their final products high. I have yet to make a profit tradeskilling and I have already invested almost 1gp (including recipe books). 1gp is a lot when I struggle to hold on to 30 silver and that is with no weapon or armor upgrades, all of my equipment is from quests or enemy drops.
Well, that was my weekend, the short of it anyways. I am still trying to figure out how to start the language quests, and discover more about lost Neriak. I would like to join the Thexians if that is possible, and even though there is talk in Freeport of this group spreading insurrection, I've not met any Teir'Dal who've offered me a chance to join or attend secret meetings. No matter, when I go Paladin they will all probably hate me anyways.
Look me up on Neriak server if you are thinking about doing the Betrayal Quest also or are on the Qeynosian side and want to lend a hand to a soon to be citizen. I will most definitely want a group for the 500 gnoll gruelfest!
Coolest thing I saw all weekend: A splendidly dressed level 50 Erudite magic user (didn't catch the class) riding on white horse, was leading me to the Wailing Caves when an undead jumped out and aggroed on me. The skeleton was halfway to me when a ball of energy (lightning ball?) shot out of the Erudite's hands (while still on the horse) and fried then enemy in one blast. It happened so fast, that my nervous system was overloaded between the sudden "Oh ****" and then "Wow, that was cool."
